Okay, generally I do think of gothic people as either weird or just nuts. That is completely due to my lack of knowledge on the subject. For the most part, the goths I have encountered seem to dress that way simply to go against any sort of conformity or any popular clothing item society deems "hip" or "in". Instead, they are just part of an underground road of conformity, and it really doesn't make any sense to me why someone would claim to be a faithful anti-conformist. Yet you still conform with other goths.

I am just really confused on the whole matter. Just answer me this: what's your own personal reason for dressing like a goth? Is it more than just wanting to express yourself? Really, I want to know.

It's just group that Goths feel comfortable with... it doesn't matter what you wear or how you wear your "Goth" materials, cause that doesn't mean squat. im not against goths. theres a goth chick at my college, theres quite a few actually, she is really nice, and the way she dresses suits her. people dont bag her out, but if they do its only because she is different but thats not a bad thing. they socalize with people who arent goths and they arent outcasts. it must be different here. but people seem to accept them. which is great.

I have a group of like 20 goths at my highschool. It's sort of silly, as there is clearly not a sense of anti-conformity between so many people. They don't make any trouble necessarilly, but they seem to be tied to the whole anime-loving scene, or online strategy games ... very anti-social. I just think that the girl who shaves her head in to a big ugly mohawk and has 20 face peircings is going to look back at her life in 30 years and probably cry at how ridiculously stupid she was.

I apoligise for generalising a group of people that all listen to the same music and dress the same. You should be glad I can put them into two categories as that's one more than most people. one guy had red/black striped stockings, arm stockings, wtf. n he acted hard too while i was laid back n amiable/deceptive in hs, one day he wants to play 'body punch' [i'm 6'4" 275 then, & hes less than 5'10" a buck 90]n halfway down the hall to the restroom he asks me wearily if I can fight, i just laughed, it clicked in the guy's head that all that 'dark' music wasnt gonna help him any.

Everyone who ever put themselves in a social category was primed for mind control. I'd say the time I actually was at school I'd kick it with the homies n thugs, but circulate to the preps who had money n loved getting fucked up, great clientele since i punked all the jocks n ripped em off, plus the superficial bytches they had were easy, simple too. the alternative fools, not the goths, were alright, nirvana listening potheads n shyt. actually made some bombs with a few. i think i picked more on the emo chumps, their girls were easy too. if anything, i fucked around with the teachers/staff the most, peices of shit.

you sound like me. i would chill with everyone in highschool, i never had a set group. from thugs to grunges to jocks, i went. i agree with you about the people who put themselves in social category. if you like something just like it and dont get into the whole scene just cuz you think thats the way.
