algae

Could someone give me the low down on algae and how it affects the soil/roots

It seems to be spreading even to different pots and i wouldnt be suprised if its whats skyrockting theph to about 8

I appreciate any info on this

Oh god. Is there sufficient drainage in that cup? Are you letting them stand in water?
