you definatley wanna switch back to mh and save the hps for flower, hps may seem to make your plants grow faster but mh puts off a different spectrum thats crucial for veg, it will help you get those short and bushy plants apposed to tall skinny plants from hps

there is also a theory that seeds arent sexually pre determined and since its a very indepth subject i chose not to go into at this time, high blue spectrum during the 3rd and 4th week of veg(when the plant determines sexuality) promote more females apposed to hps a red spectrum promoting males, unless your growing clones it doesnt matter cause your already sexually mature

but i repeat, i highly recommend going back to mh and saving the hps for flower you definatley will appriciate the results

I assume you want to flower them then. As the others said HPS is better suited to the flower cycle.

Yes you can just change them from veg (MH) to flower (HPS) just that easy. (as long as the ballast are the proper ones or you have a switching ballast or conversion bulb)

I use MH from seedlings to 2 weeks into flowering then HPS from then to end. MY reasons for using MH for first 2 weeks of flowering is to counteract the pre-flowering stretch (which is an issue for me with limited headroom). It was worked a charm and have almost halved the amount of stretch.

But.. bottom line... DONT use HPS yet and expect some stretching when you do.
