OK, Ive seen pics showing buds growing up thru a screenwire ... my question is: why? ... why does a screenwire make a difference as to the growing results ??? ... thanks in advance for any tips ... :smokin:

The idea is growing many plants close together and only poking the flowers through the top of the screen to light them only. It's just a method of growing like so many others.

i thought it was for support aswel, so the plant can put more energy into growing rather than supporting. am i wrong in thinking that?

I think thats right too - the stems arent stimulated to bulk up from carrying the wt of the plant

Yes, SOG stands for Sea Of Green. The method behind that is packing a lot of plants, usually clones because they work best and are the cheapest way to do it, into a small area with a screen above that the plants eventually grow to fit under. Then when you hit flowering, only the flowers poke thru so the top colas are what are absorbing the majority of the light.. usually increasing the yeild.. but i've never messed around with it, just going off what i read.

It's not a support issue. The stocks need to thicken up to increase the nutrient uptake. If you have thin spindly stocks the plant will suffer poor uptake and the yield will suffer as well.
