I wa sin need for a permanent pipe and hit up home depot, the only stuff I could find useful were a copper elbow and small section of copper pipe, so I made a small piepe out of it...

I know smoking off aluminum is dangerous long-term, btu what about copper? I know brass is ideal, but I couldn't find anything.

Yeah copper is very poisonous, but since the copper you bought is thicker than alluminum foil you probaly will have less fumes released. In the end though I think it sounds like a pretty bad idea, I used to make ghetto solar panels out of copper plates and there was never a fume problem but I'd personally not risk exposure to poisonous copper.
