Today some healthy living "professional" came to talk to my gym class about steroids.

When talking about the effects of steroids on the body she said "Steroids cause men to get breasts, higher voices, and shrinks there testicles...just like long term marijuana use will shrink your genitalia.

As soon as she said this i yelled out "who conducted that study on marijuana? and she said "its a common fact...now lets get back on task"

Now this pissed me off because not only is she supposed to be a professional with all the facts but now there are guys in my class saying there quitting weed which are some of my regular customers. They asked me if i was going to stop tokin and i said no? and there like ha ha have fun turning into a girl.

Daily Factoid: Gynecomastia occurs no more often in cannabis users than other men. Marijuana does not increase levels of female hormones in men, even in large doses.

am i to believe this daily factoid is not true? Does anyone know the real deal on all of this?

The point of that post was THC is not a toxic chemical, nor does it cause your genitals to shrink or make adolescent males suddenly change sexes.

I mean, come on. The only chemical that can make a guy turn in to a girl is estrogen, and the only way to get that in your system is to take estrogen supplements or have so much testosterone in your system (steroids are synthetic testosterone), which forces a body to up the estrogen to find a balance.

I can't believe a medical "professional" doesn't know her fucking facts.

We should print out the Erowid and Wikipedia entries on marijuana and throw them all over the place.

We were just going over what drugs do to you in biology class and right there in the book it said smoking marijuana leads to lower testosterone levels, and then my teacher was saying how its like 10 times worse than cigarettes. Speaking of propoganda, has anyone seen the new "above the influence" commercials? They blare them all day at my school. If you haven't seen them, they usually go like this, A teenager is sitting somehwere in the aftermath of a stupid activity, a narrator comes on and says "Yesterday, my friends told me to smoke some pot (I like the word choice in these commercials), then today they told me to (stupid activity.)

It's crazy, I took a business class last semester and we went over advertising and propoganda techniques, this commercial uses nearly every one of them.

They don't even say the "harmful" effects anymore, they don't tell you anything about it other than it's "bad". It's the real-life equivelent of "Drugs are bad, mmkay?" "Mar-a-joo-wanna is bad, mmkay?"

What I think is crazy is that they focus on cannabis, why? There are much more harmful drugs that I could obtain as easily as cannabis. Yet they focus on weed. Our government is crazy, I'm moving out of the U.S. as soon as I can.
