I have often thought, If the world were to become all vegetarians, what would happen to the thousands of cows bread for their dairy products and meat? What would happen to the millions of chickens? They would all be killed most likely, and what would happen to all the grazing cattle land? Most likely sold to be turned into shopping centers, Some would be converted to fields for crops sure, but alot wouldent. Being a dairy farmer is MUCH different than growing crops. Many farmers wouldent be able to afford the switch, farmers have a steady life style but are in debt half the year and rich the other half, its like a cycle.

I'm not saying fur and meat are wrong. I have no problem wearing fur myself,and I support other people's right to eat meat. My vegetarianism is more of an aesthetic thing than a moral one. I just don't like the thought of putting dead animals in my mouth. If that's what you believe, I don't think PETA is the group for you. It's pretty clear that the PETA leadership is against all killing or testing of animals, not just for doing it in a humane manner. Here's what Ingrid Newkirk has to say about it:

That's right. I too, live in Iowa, but as opposed to Bobbi Sue here, I disagree with nearly every single thing she uttered out of her slack-jawed yokel country bumpkin mouth. Keep in mind folks, this is the same area of Iowa that has had two psychopaths break into an animal shelter specificly to kill cats and succeeded in about 50 deaths. They were given a minimal fine and thats it. One juror was quoted as saying, "Those guys weren't doing anything really wrong. Who hasn't killed a few cats?"

he difference is, we aren't our ancestors. We don't eat meat out of necessity to make sure we stay alive. Its a little different having to kill an animal to keep your family from going hungry, which is what our ancestors did.

I can see why you would have a problem killing something like a dolphin or a chimpanzee, but I would hesitate to say that all animals deserve the same treatment. Surely it's okay to smack a mosquito on your arm or cut a worm in half with a shovel while digging, right?
