I have read a few things and am a little confused about the whole cloning thing.
In order to take clones, can the plant just be female, or does it have to be a "Mother" plant?
If it does have to be a mother, what the heck constitutes a mother vs. just a female. What do you have to do to make a mother?

A mother is a female that is chosen for taking cuttings. The mother would usually be a healthy, strong and potent or favoured strain. It's kept in a vegative growing state for the purpose of taking cuttings from to turn them into clones of the mother. They will therefore inherit all the features of the mother plant. Mothers are known to be kept for a few years.
Yes you can take cuttings from any female plant.

unbelievably good answer, elcheapo. I found only one thing to add. The clone also inherits the age/maturity of the mother. Great Info
