so like say i wanted to dj at a birthday bash in a hall how would i connect the loudspeaker speakers?

There are some sweet harman kardon speakers that I got to go with my Ipod.
http://www.mobileplanet.com/product.asp?code=121355&partner=froogle They're mad loud.

As for DJing a party, do you have a PA? (Amp with speakers or self powered speakers?) You really can't use normal computer speakers for that. JBL has some nice self-powered speakers varying in size and price. But, they all use xlr plugs, so you would need a mixer to line the computer into and then like the speakers out of. You might be able to get an adapted that goes 1/8in (computer speaker hole) to 1/4 inch (normal speaker cable) and then get a 1/4 inch to xlr cable, but you'd only be able to use 1 speaker.

I'd say either get nice computer speakers or go to a local DJ/ sound store and ask about buying a PA system. It's really hard to explain online.

I have the Klipsch in the pic, pretty nice but no comparison to my Denon 7:1 receiver I have in the living room... I have a TV card in my PC so I blast the PC Speaker's and blast the TV downstairs, the windows on my house shake
I got a disturbing the peace ticket from a dick cop last summer so I have to kill the noise by ten... The neighbors are kool, but the prick cop was the complaintant...

I've got a Logitech setup. I think it's the Z-5500 or something.

10" sub. 5 satellites. Optical input. 5.1 out.

All I can say, is :D

Hey! Mr.Salsa! :)

Really? Didn't know that...

I'm sure that if one is hell-bent on getting the most powerfull thing, you can build your own. But in any event, straight out of the box, this system kicks ass.

I saw in CompUSA the other day that Logitech has a new system... I think it's better than my setup, but the rear satellite speakers where wireless.... I'm not too convinced about that.

What really did hurt, is I bought the system in $400, and CompUSA now has it in $280. Arghhh....

Well, yeah.

How many outputs does your laptop have? Only the headphone output?

There are laptops that have 3 stereo outputs (3x2 = 6 out).

So, in those six channels, you've got
left/right front
left/right rear
sub
center

.....

You can use the splitter, but how many outputs does it have? It wouldn't be good to be splitting the subwoofer's feed.

BTW: From what I understand, you're DJing this party... and you're buying the speakers now... ok... if you ain't a DJ, and you're buying speakers only for this situation, place the speakers on a HIGH level, pointing semi-down... because if you place them at people-level, you're going to have to UP the volume so much, you'll blow them.

Unless you buy some heavy duty equipment... like some Peavys or something.

Wow.... memories from my DJ days...
I built this super-mega-moFUCKER speakers... I used 3 amplifiers per speaker... 6 amps total. Two amps where 600Watters. Two where 550. Two where 1000.

My parties thumped.

These were the best pc speakers money could buy until the new wireless ones came out. i don't know the quality of the new ones though, does anyone know if there's any signal or sound degredation due to being wireless?
