Me and my lil bro decided to dust off the rods and go for a fish where our old man used to take us when we were kids. I hadn't been fishing for a good six, seven years. So off to the fishing shop for maggots.I'd forgotten about those nasty lil buggers!
To cut along story short I caught nothing but a cold. It was bloody freezin! Think it's too cold for em to be biting! Ahh..well was cool reminising with my bro and doing the bonding thang. We're gonna go when it's abit warmer. Are there many other anglers here? Well I wouldn't really call myself that, but there's nothing like being in the great outdoors with a bag of sunshine, dipping your line. Happy days!

Peace

Buddy

'Imagine reaching for an apple on a tree and having your hand suddenly impaled by a metal hook that drags you??the whole weight of your body pulling on that one hand??out of the air and into an atmosphere in which you cannot breathe. This is what fish experience when they are hooked for ??sport.?

Many people grow up fishing without ever considering the terror and suffering that fish endure when they??re impaled by a hook and pulled out of the water. Recreational anglers rarely stop to contemplate that fish are complex and intelligent individuals. In fact, if anglers treated cats, dogs, cows, or pigs the way they treat fish, they would be thrown in prison on charges of cruelty to animals.'

Why not let fish enjoy the beautiful day, too, by leaving your fishing gear at home?

Erm....how does no sound?

no point in going by what hurts other, because if a bear has a chance it'll rip us apart, and if fish could, I bet they'd put hooks through our heads..

I love fishing... espically deep sea fishing on the Outer Banks, and trout fishing in the PA mountains both fly and spinning.

Evil is a term describing that which is regarded as morally bad, intrinsically corrupt, wantonly destructive, inhumane, selfish, or wicked. In most cultures, the word is used to describe acts, thoughts, and ideas which are thought to (either directly or causally) bring about withering and death ??the opposite of life.

Heres a few from last summer;)

Massive Perch and a nice Barbel...Face edited for legal reasons

Fish aren't as Sensorarily developed as cats or dogs and don't experiance nerve sensation to the same degree as mammals.

But they still feel stress and pain [ all be it basic]

Most fisherman have great respect for nature and great respect for the fish they handle...

Ganja ,sunshine and water..that's what it's all about.

Yeh now is the worst time for fish coz of the cold and the Pike season has closed.....

Carp and Barbell are really out more and willing to feed in the summer. The Pike get frisky during the Autum and that's the best time to catch ...Perch are very nice to eat:)

That Perch was 1Kg ;) and it got hooked on a lure;)

The Barbel was caught on the River Lot in France along with a 5 Kilo Pike and a little Zandor;)

Try fishing with maggots and ground bait this time of year for Roach and other "White Fish".. You should ALWAYS catch at least one fish! I NEVER draw a blank when I go fishing....Don't scare the fish off with HEAVY FLOATS...For White Fish use a Pole or the lightest tackle you've got for gentle casts no more than 4 metres away form you.

Really is the perch good? I've had pike before that we caught in France, but I found it to quite muddy and not very pleasant! Would love to try perch! And sweet hooking her on a lure! I havent had much luck pike fishing, it's a lil bros party. I'd prefer to hook me a nice fat mirror carp, god they're beautiful!

Yeh that sort of weight should be ok on 15 ft rod.....with a nice 10 pound line...

See fishing is the buisness:D

But for me ...Live baiting for Pike is the best......You get to spend your time catching loads of little roach on a pole or little float rod ,while you've got maybe two or three Pike rigs set alond the bank waitng to temp some big predators!

Nothing like seeing a Pike float [Live Bait Float] get sucked under in a flash ....and the wait before the strike while your heart is racing.....and then when you pull your rod back and feel that heavy fish get hooked on and bolt off:D

Man I can't wait till summer:D

cool i got 15ft one myself and another mate just gave me his i might try to get a better strength rod so i can do some pikeing ive never fished for pike intentionaly when i was a bit younger i used to go fishing with a little club and a mate there caught a perch and while he was pullng it in a pike must have gone for it because alll of a sudden the line pulled hard then it was slack ....he reeled in and there was about three 3rds of the fish's head left on the hook. LOL

YEAH i luv it when u feel that pull and u know you've struck notice how they allways feel and seem heavier b4 land em? lol '''ITS A BIG ONE ITS A BIG ONE'..........4inch dace...ok lol

True ! I think it depends on the conditions of the fish and species...for instance; I caught a 3 pound carp on a "Utillity Rod" [ cheap telescopic pike rod]...and it just came in to shore without any agro'......
But when I caught a 1 pound carp on some 1 pound line with a tiny little 5 foot baby rod...I got the fight of my life from this tiny fish...I think that smaller fish that havent been hooked before go mental and fish that have been hooked don't go as mental... also fishing with such a light weight line allows the fish to pull and strech the line a bit which gives the fish moreconfidence and thus a better fight.....
When I hooked that little carp , I had about 5 other fishermen rush over because of the scream my reel was giving out! They thought I had hooked Billy Big Mouth! Turned out to be a little Carp with a big heart:D

But Pike fishing is the best.... and it's not as specialized as you'd think....and it's a more active than the long dull Carp sessions....

I've got 3 female Sunk#1 plants a few days into 12/12 ,when their tits get big...I'm going fishing;)

I love to fish. I'd go every weekend if the weather and other plans would let me. The only downside is if I go by myself I can keep anything I catch, but if I go with my wife, I have to put anything I catch back. She doesn't like to see them struggle. She says it makes her feel like shes suffocating. It makes me hungry

What would you suggest we eat then? Plants are alive as well and have to be killed to be eaten. Following this line of reasoning there is almost nothing we can eat. We are omnivores...we have teeth(molars) that can chew plant matter and teeth(insicors) that are made for tearing meat.

Now don't go calling him/her an idiot for believing in the sanctity of life. I'm sure he/she knows that plants die too. What he may not be aware of is that all life is essentially equal in terms of it's right to live. It is our cultures and societies that determine what is ok to eat and what is not. Hence the reason that dog is eaten in asia but Hindu's won't eat beef and Muslims and Jews won't eat pork. It's all relative to the cultural and social mores that are ultimately the constructs of man.

I love to fish. I have some friends with a camp in central NH, it's 110 acres on a pond that doesn't allow gas powered watercraft. It's sooo peaceful and quiet, you can hear and see the beavers working around and listen to the loons in the morning and evening.
We fish mostly for both small and large mouth bass, I love the jumps and fight they give. Of course some days we only catch a bunch of sunfish....but it's still worth it to be out in the sun, drifting around in the canoe and smokin' a j.

If you like Bass check out this bad boy!

My little brother caught this Black Bass [I think Yanks call it Small Mouth Bass]

We both had this fish bite our lures ! But my brother got the hook-up... The lure he caught it on was HUGE...and blue and rattly...I said to him " Your wasting your time fishing with that!!"..and then 5 minutes later this fish showed up for some action...
It had stolen our live bait the night before.....We went back to the same spot and bingo!!:D :D Never weighed it but it was good fish allthesame!

I love using ultra-light tackle with 4lb test line and use a small (1/32, 1/16 or 1/8 oz) tube jig with a minnow or nightcrawler and fishing for big crappie or bluegill. they fight like the devil on light tackle and around here they can be found ranging in size from 1/2lb to 1 1/2lb. Also use same tackle for walleye and bass just for fun. And nothing like fishing for bluegill with a flyrod in early summer when they are up shallow to breed in the warm water.

You talking about ultra-light tackle, Have you ever used berkely's 1" honey worms? I was fishing with my son last summer I used honey worms (a plastic bait), And my son was using night crawlers. I caught 3 to his 1, He said to hell with these crawlers and put on honey worms. You should try them, I have never seen a plastic bait catch fish like these. I got mine at walmart, jar of 50 for $2.95. They come in natural, red and chartreuse, I have only used the natural so far.

Got several jars stocked up for this summer.

I don't understand why these people don't care. It was a simple step for me to transcend this type of behavior. Some people seem to evolve very slowly..
I think it must not be due to one single factor, which is why it's so difficult to pinpoint. On to the elements that compose the logic of cruelty

It's a mixture of stupidity, desensation, ignorance and denial. A stubbornness, fear and inability to change routine (the same dark force behind making drugs illegall in fact). It's the sadistic drive that would let one being kill and torture another for pleasure.

Evolution of society is slow. If we are to survive as a species we will learn to develop an empathy with life.

..as for the arguments "we need to kill fish to survive" is not applicable in developed countries. If you have a computer you have access to food that doesnt involve barbaric disregard for compassionate living. People using this excuse fall under the "denial" element.
