Ingrown Toenail...please read.

Ok I'm not sure but I think I have a ingrown toenail. One of my worse fears is the doctor. I NEVER liked the doctors office, not even looking at it. And if I cant help this ingrown my self I might have to seek medical attention. I hate the fact that I might have an ingrown toenail, so I'm thinking about getting so high that I am gonna keep tellin my self I'm gonna die from a high dosage. It seems stupid but atleast my mind wont be on the toenail. Believe it or not surgury and shit freaks me out even worse than me dying...or maybe when I'm high I just accept whats coming lol, I really dont know what but what do you guys think I should do? Should I get high before I get surgury (if I have to get it) or will the anesthetic they injection me with affect my high in a bad way?

Surgery? For an ingrown toenail? I don't be thinking so man. I've had one once and all he gave me were some Antibiotics for the infection and it eventually cleared itself up.

You're talking like this is a life or death matter. It's nothing. Suck it up and go get it fixed before it gets really bad. And yes, get high before you go.

the only thing that kinda hurts are the shots... you get 3 of them all around the base of your toe... but after that, no feeling in ur toe for like 3 hours

After that they cut my nail in half and ripped out the whole side that was ingrown. I haven't been to the doctor since, and that was like 5 years ago...

All those needles are is sharp pricks to freeze the toe. You don't feel anything at all while they are doing it. The needle is similair to the one they use in dentist offices to freeze patients mouths for fillings.

you're right, that's what they do for these. I had a buddy who had it done, he just said it hurt after, but jesus I would think so it IS surgery. I have like all ten toes ingrown, and I really hope that I don't have to get to that point. God feet suck.:mad:

oh shit dude... iv gotten stitches many times, and by far the worst part is the needle. im not sacred of needles or anything, but it BURNS LIKE HELL BIACH!!!!

I dont think the needle will hurt. I got a couple of shots before and they really didnt hurt. So I dont expect this to hurt. I mean I might not have to get it. My toe just might be irritated like it does some times for some reason. But then again it might not be. The part that looks like it's suppose to be ingrown to really isnt ingrown so I dunno man...

While many things can cause ingrown toenails, the major causes are shoes that don't fit well and improperly trimmed nails. Shoes that are too tight press the sides of the nail and make it curl into the skin. Nails that are peeled off at the edge or trimmed down at the corners are also more likely to become ingrown.

To avoid ingrown toenails, you should cut your nails straight across. The top of the nail should make a straight line.

When the problem is mild, you may only need to soak your foot in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes and place dry cotton, such as part of a cotton ball, under the corner of the nail. Signs that the problem is getting worse include increasing pain, swelling and drainage of the area. Sometimes minor surgery is needed to remove the part of the nail that is poking into the skin.

Your doctor will first numb your toe by injecting it with an anesthetic. Then he or she will cut your toenail along the edge that is growing into the skin and pull out the piece of nail. Finally, your doctor may apply a small electrical charge or a liquid solution to the exposed part of the nail bed. This keeps the toenail from growing into the skin again. This part of the surgery is called ablation, and your doctor will decide whether it needs to be done. Not all patients need ablation

They will first put you on these stinky ass green pills, and tell you to come back in a week if it doesnt look better. soak your toe 2-3 times a day for around 10 minutes and it will be alot better in no time. or if the pills don't work, you can ask for the surgery, where they give you a couple shots around your toe and cut the nail so you will never grow a ingrown toenail in that spot again. also after I got mine cut out, the doctor gave me a prescription for vicodin, and it really didn't hurt that bad, so it worked out all good, haha

and I don't know what these dudes are talking about, the needle doesn't hurt AT ALL, maybe if your a big puss...lol

aiiiight i got an ingrown nail cut out last year. it doesnt really hurt its just really uncomfortable. what they did was they gave me toe 2 needles then when it was numb as fuck they got out a pair of scissors and cut the half of my nail off. doesnt really hurt....just feels like theres alot of pressure on ya toe, its not bad

Thats what i do now... i got the surgery like 2 years ago. My toe nail still gets ingrown but i eventually adapted and now just cut it out myself every few weeks before it gets infected again. But i wouldnt recommend that if you dont know what your doing, you could seriously fuck your shit up.

Oh ya... and the needles ARE the worst thing, and the DO hurt like fucking hell.
But the rest is cake.

You're talking to the king of ingrown toenail here. I've had the operation done 3 times. I hate to scare you but DAMN. Thats shit hurts like a mother fucker sometimes. My first one was infected like a bitch. So first I took antibiotics to get infection down then i came back in like a week for the "cut". What they did to me was spray me with this cold ass spray gun then inject like 7-10 shots in my toe. shit hurt but surprisingly not too bad. Just dont you dare look damn it! Then 5 minutres after that if you are numb he gets these scissors and starrs cutting. Feels like a lot of pressure but usually no pain. But one time it did hurt bad because I couldnt get numb enough....it really hurt. One time this doctor pissed me off cus he had a "doctor in training" dude with him and he would lift my toe nail up and say this is what an blah blah blah infection is and im like mother fucka i aint no experiement ho ass. But i didnt say anything really....cuz shit that shiit hurts man be afraid!!!!

Well I read that if your socks are too tight on your toes or your shoes are causing alot of pressure and for your toes to be pushed together that causes them. And also irregular cut toe nails. They say you should just cut straight across and not a round-like toenail. They say it's most common in the West since in the East they usually wear sandles and shit so they usually have the pressure on their toes.

just reading this thread made me cringe, I've had it three times now, the first two it was operated on, the third time I cut the fucker out myself before it got too bad cuz I didn't want to goto the doctors for it again. if they use enough anesthetic it shouldn't hurt too bad though dude, and have a smoke before you go :)

Alright, ingrown toenails are when the sides of the nail grow into the skin. It is very painful, but can be fairly easy to take care of if noticed early. (before infection) Ingrown toenails are common for teenagers. Just make sure that when you clip your toenails, you square the edges above the skin, not round so that pieces of nail can get caught under the skin.
