If you go to the website of the Scientific American podcast (http://www.sciam.com/podcast/) and download the February 15 version of the show, you can hear their discussion of American and British policies on cannabis. Basically they conclude that the British decision to decriminalize cannabis was based on actual scientific findings while the American government continues to ignore any evidence that contradicts its current policy.

(P.S.: Yes, I know I haven't been around in a long time. I've been really busy, and I still am, but I think I can manage to post once in a while now.)

Its True about the decision being based on science if you mean the ACMD report that was excellent the way they stood up to all the media pressure beforehand. With all the reefermadness in the mail and that though I wonder if the politicians will override it anyway one day soon "for the sake of the children." I hope not but don't trust them at all with our smoke.:(

If the history of science has taught us anything, it's that scientific truth never bows down to political opinion. Political institutions have had to concede that the Earth is not the center of the universe, that whites are not biologically superior to members of other races, and most recently, that the universe was not created by God 6,000 years ago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitzmiller_v._Dover_Area_School_District). Eventually the evidence will pile up to the point that no rational thinking person can deny it, and those who still cling to the outdated theory will die out. It may take a long time, and momentary setbacks are to be expected, but I don't think it can realistically turn out any other way in the long run.

Yes start with legalizing for the over 18's theres no excuse for not doing that as even the worst of the reefermadness brigade only claim it hurts kids.
Then make them do decent research to see if thc really does cure cancer and who know perhaps we won't even need their herceptin after that.
