Put it in the Lounge cuz questions everywhere else get ignored usualy...
i understand that males can pollinate females and make them grow seedy buds...
but do males grow seedy buds as well?... or do they not grow anything besides leaves?...
Thanks..

Leaves and pollen sacks!

Males are often, but not always, tall with stout stems, sporadic branching, and few leaves. Males are usually harvested except those used for breeding, after their sex has been determined, but before the pollen is shed. When harvesting, especially if close to females, cut the plant off at the base, taking care to shake the male as little as possible. This helps prevent any accidental pollination by an unnoticed, open male flower.
When a male enters the stage of flower development, the tips of the branches where a bud would develop will start to grow what looks like a little bud (little balls) but it will have no white hairs coming out of it. Females will have no balls and will have small white hairs.

hmm ok thanks, im thinking about growing out my males and stocking up with seeds, do females have seeds in their buds if they havent been pollinated, or is there no seeds at all??

fems with absolutly no male influence will produce no seeds...you need a male to pollinate the fem if you do this you willl have plenty of seeds

i think thats what im gonna do, cuz i still get seeds for more grows, and i still get buds....
can i make my own strain if i pollenate a different type of female then the male strain?

You're on the right track.
Yes, you can take a female strain, and a male of another strain, pollinate the female, and the seeds you end up with will be that cross of the 2 strains, thus, creating a new strain. Cool huh.
A female plant alone doesn't produce seeds. You may get a few hear and there, but usually 99% of the time, they are just a casing and no good. Females only produce smokeable buds.
Males alone do not produce buds, they produce pollen sacks that contain no THC, or very little THC, but not recommended for smoking.
And, as you know now, if a male blows his pollen on a female, you will get seeded buds. As I explained before, you can cross 2 diff. strains quite easily.
Good luck.

I crossed a Big Blue female with a Strawberry Cough male, and ended up with a very potent smoke. Plus, I have at least 4 dozen beans of it left.
I'd cross White Widow with AK-47 or something. Isn't White Rhino just a cross of White Widow anyways? I don't know much about the Rhino, so forgive me if it sounds silly.

i hate seed in my bud
i would keep all males/hermies away
pollen is no joke when the wind blows the pollen goes everywhere.
a lil can fuck up your whole crop.
i would recommend just growing girls and clones

but when plants make seeds it stops the thc production.
the plant spends all its enerhy making seeds not flowers.
wouldnt you rather smoke some wonderful herb nice and clean
compared to seedy non potent fag plants

No, just because of one reason, i can reproduce for my lifetime, and still get high, no matter how much i gotta smoke to get high, ill do it, and be happy :)
I understand what you mean though, you prefer potent, strong bud, but whatever i can smoke on that has atleast a small effect makes me happy.

Some people like growing from clones, some from seed.
I prefer some seed, unlike others who use clones. Starting from a seed, yes, is a 50/50 chance of getting male or female, but from seed I find the plant is much more robust and hartier than from clone. Buds are prime and solid, and I have found that you can only take so many clones from a mother plant before the clones themselves, produce weak results.
Getting a male to blow pollen on only 1 female is not that much of a loss. THC production does slow down, but you can get several hundred seeds from that one seeded female. Use the seeds, take the torn apart females and make hash or some kind of extraction with the unsmokable buds.
That's just from a small, personal, indoor growers opinion though.

ive chose to have a pollen section and a non pollen section, but i am a outdoor grower..
im going to have a section of my back yard with males and females reproducing, then a half a mile away from my house (still my back yard, lol) im gonna piss everywhere and have ALL females back there, the piss will scare animals that will eat the plants...

the scary thing is i have NO EXTRA MONEY for ferts, nutes, or a light, so im even gonna have to start the seedlings outside after they germ, i only got cash for seeds and soil..

I would not reccomend planting directly outdoors, but it is obviously up to you. What a friend told me to do (something that i have adopted) is to save toilet paper rolls, fill them up with a mix of worm castings, soil, and perlite (about 1 part to 2 to 2)...they will grow amazingly well if placed on your back porch or even in a well lighted window...water every few days and you can even put them under one or a few compact flouro bulb(s) (like 5 bucks for a pack at any hardware store) at night to get more light...make sure to get the cfls that produce around 4000ks...bluer spectrum...try not to get any that are around 2700k as it will cause stretching. wait until the plants get a few sets of leaves then place tube and everything into the ground. (after first frost and preferably after solstice...mid march)
as for the patch, you can urinate directly where the plants will be growing, but do it in advance so the nitrogen has time to disperse in the soil (nitrogen is used for veg) also, you can scare away animals with human hair plus it will act as a slow release nutrient feed...go to local barber or something(dont over do it where the plants will actually be growing, you can always move the good soil closer later if the plants look weak...compost bins create wonderful soil btw, but animals may be attracted) one other thing id do before putting plants wherever is test the ph level...you can buy a meter at a gardening store for like 15 dollars. ph should be around 6.5-7...if you find a great sunny spot where soil is too acidic or basic, you can add dolomitic lime to raise and more urine or vinegar to lower(dont overfertalize...)
make sure to check at about 8 weeks or so to get rid of males (in seed patch, just allow one male to grow, he should pollinate the girls just fine)
thats all i can think of for now...peace

No, I don't have MSN or AOL or anything. The only way to get a hold of me is by posting in the Lounge, or the growing sections (that's where I am usually). Ot contact me by e-mail, here it is:
[email protected]
I check it daily, so if you do contact me, you will get a response.
Anymore questions, just ask. :)
