i just bought one of those 4 1/2" computer fans i have mounted it on my box but i also bought a 25 foot metalic flexi hose {like everyone else is using} and it is 4" in diameter how do i connect the hosing to the fan(what kind of materials do i use?) so i can complete my exhaust system. ALSO i have that at the top of my box once i make the exhaust system there will be no light showing from that hole......but i have a hole at the bottom to suck in air(no fan just negative pressure method) Is there any kind of screening or ....damn ANYTHING that i can use to block this light without affecting air flow. Any help is so appreciated.thanks

duct tape is a wonderful product for lightproofing and connecting tubing. also for the intake vent just put a length of tubing on it with 2 90degree bends. light cant travel around corners. as long as it isn't reflective inside the tubing. if it is paint it black 1st. it's called a light trap, if you don't understand just think of the trap under your sink, same idea. also a 4 1/2 inch comp. fan is not powerfull enough to cool much more than 1 or 2 42 wat cfl's. i originally tried a 4inch fan to exhaust my 350watt cfl cab and the temps were like 115 or higher! i had to switch to a much more powerful fan. just make sure you run it for a day or 2 and watch the temps before you put any plants in there. when i upgraded the fans i switched the 4 1/2 inch fan to intake also.

Hey guys,
Another neat idea I read about for making a light trap with a flexible hose:
Attach your intake/exhaust side to the cabinet/room/box... then, make a 180degree smooth bend in the duct... simple.
(did I write it right?)

i went to HD a lil while ago and was looking on the flexi hose aisle and found a 6" in-duct fan that blows 250 cfm is that good or too high for such a small space also would it be to loud because i have to grow stealth.if i get that all i have to do is return my 4" flexi hose and get the 6" instead. that would be great. 250cfm's should get the air outta there long before it has a chance to heat up
