Bong help

I woke up this morning and was tired of not being able to get a bong. I decides to make one and it came out real nice. I used a 2 liter bottle, some tubing, gum, and a 5/8 socket wrench head as the bowl.

Since i wont have any weed to later on in the day i wanted to try my bong so i used tobacco. I put some water in the bong and backed the bowl with tabacco. when i was sucking on the top of the bottle trying to fill it with smoke all the smoke was going staright into my lungs. Like it wasnt staying in the bong first.

Isnt that what a carb does? Do i need a carb and how do i make one. How does a carb work?

welp, a pic would be super-helpful, but oh well...

first off, there should be no way for air to enter the bong except through the bowl, or through the suck-hole (mouthpiece) so, seal the bowl with your thumb, palm, whatever and suck as hard as you can. you should not get any air in your lungs, since the hole is plugged (and if its a pop bottle, the sides will crumple inwards due to the vacuum). if air is leaking in, you have a hole to patch.

next, make sure that the tube (I mean from the bowl to the bit that goes under the water) is airtight, especially around the base of the bowl...somehow I think it might be the gum. try using some hotglue, or even duct tape if you think you're handy enough...

then, make sure that when you suck on the mouthpiece, you get bubbles in the water; you might need a longer tube/more water...


also, if its plastic tubing inside the bong, be sure to put a screen on the bowl! burning weed will melt the plastic, making the whole bong taste like a baboon's inflamed anus (if the baboon had been inserting melted plastic into its ass)

hahahahahahaha jezuz gonzo, how wood u kno wut a baboonz inflamed anus inserted wit melted plastic tastez like?? hehe...anywayz....gonzo prety much covered erythin i wood ov said, it soundz like she aint air tight. an hez definatly rite about puttin a screen on that bitch. if i were u, id try n find a way to make a metal bowl n stem, cuz once u start smokin shell get hot an u will start to taste nasty ass plastic. i had a"ghetto bong" made out ov a 600ml bottle, a pen an the metal screw in frum a cable cord. i dint realize at first, but i wuz gettin sum plastic. an i aint even fuckin aroun here, i put my tongue on the roof ov my mouth an it felt unlike my gumz so i knew i had been gettin sum plastic. i wuz actually able ta PICK THE FUCKIN LAYER OV PLASTIC OUT OV MY MOUTH...i will never smoke anythin wit potential ta melt ever again. take the metal part off yer cable cord(perfect bowl), an try to find an old set ov tv antennaz er any metal thatz hollow. i got my tv antenna to fit wit the bowl perfectly so itz airtight, an no burnin plastic.

I can honestly say I have never, ever thought of that...but come to think of it, it'd work fantastically...are they typically hollow, or is there a certain kind/brand to look for? that'd solve my age-old problem of 'stem is too short for this nifty jug/lamp/foreigner that I want to make into a bong'

Don't use aluminum. Use hollow steel. If you're going to use an antenna, find one that is not too narrow. You don't want to have to suck your lungs so hard that you end up blowing out of your ass. Oh, and don't use copper.
