Alot of classic rock and old school punk (i hate the new poser punk shit). Some rap , not the commercial 50 cent type shit but some of the stuff like Tribe called quest, Blackalicious, Atmousphere, and other groups like that. A few metal bands , and i have recently gotten into stuff like trance and jungle.

I listen to most types of music but if I had to choose a favorite genre it would be 60's and 70's psychadelic rock or 70's metal. Nothing like smoking and listening to some good Floyd though...

heehe it shouldent be sid vicious and the sex pistols, it should be johnny rotten and the sex pistols, or no name at all. While I admit you cant help but love Sid for some reason he had no fucking clue how to play a bass, he didnt even play at all in the nevermind the bollocks disc, and he rarely was able to play at any event, the dude was a drugged out loser junkie and only in the band because of the way he looked. But we still love you RIP Sid, you did it your way!

oh i forgot i love Drum and bass, and jungle too

Cool opiuser, I made your sig! :D

Anyway, I mainly like Bob Marley (the earlier stuff - Simmer Down and One Cup of Coffee are ace), but Ill listen to anything - apart from techno/trance. Theres just no talent in repeating the same riff over and over again for 10 minutes.

Damn dude, you dont know what you are saying, there is a difference between techno and trance techno is most likely the only music you have heard, and it isnt 'riffs' DJS spin records, they set a mood

you saying that about electronic music is like me saying rap and hiphop are the same thing, and that all rappers sing about is womanizing and drug use, it just isnt true, and an ignorant statement to boot

Theres just no talent in repeating the same riff over and over again for 10 minutes. I used to think the same thing about techno and trance and all that business . But after i started listening to it a bit its really just kinda chill to sit back and listen to and extremely fun to get into the beat.

OK OK, maybe not techno and trance - I meant that 'music' thats just monotonous and repeats the same fuckin thing over and over again.
Chillout music is cool though.

If you think about it, you can really compare electronic music to music of the baroque and classical eras, they both follow a certain form, although different, i dunno i got to go to bed but i could make some connections. I gonna try asking my brother who happens to be a musical genius, the dude is amazing, hes like a master clarinetist, guitarist, drummer, bassist pianoist, organist... i dunno the dude can play anything hes got a studio in his house and sits in it like 24/7

seriously man, if you look at any music, take the words away all it does is repeat

sure there are some solo parts, and variations, the exact same goes for electronic.

Im sure the only DJ's that you have heard before are most likely DJ sammy, (the britney spears of the EDM electronic dance music scene) and prolly like paul oakenfold/ john digweed or something you havent heard anything yet

Another reason you may think that the music just carries the same beat is because it seems slower compared to guitars, it really isnt trance is usually around 130 BPM or beats per minute, my favorite genre, hardcore is usually around 190 BPM or faster, I think tomorow i'll upload some of my favorite tracks. The addition of an MC can be pretty cool sometimes although if they suck then they are just annoying, go to myspace.com/bedake (http://myspace.com/bedake) the song on there is by DJ hixxy a great hardcore DJ, its just a single track comparable to a song by any band. Its not one of my favorite but its decent, on the track it gives examples of the transitions between records, this is one of the ways i think it is comparable to classical music

When im on acid/shrooms/ecstasy there is not a single music genre that I would listen to that isnt electronic.

Sorry for the triple post but i always get a little heated whenever someone bad mouths the EM

You know, Marilyn Mansons real name isnt even Marilyn Manson
He's a skinny public high school kid from Florida and not some monster from out of this world, who like a lot of other long haired public high school kids got sick of getting beaten up by the pullin'gaurd all week just to go out on the weekend and watch the quaterback get all the girls, so he formed a band and now.........he gets all the girls.
It's the feel good hit of this endless summer that gets these kids out of control. Singing along to that star spangled bummer, hail hail rock n roll

I think half of marilyn's fame and fortune is due to his appearance, all shock factor. Any guy that forms a mediocre band but then spends so much time on appearance and trying to build up this figure as some kind of anti christ gets alot of teenage rebelling type teenagers. It's totally all for publicity, shock sells just like sex. Want to see a real rebel chaos guy? Google the name GG Allin! That guy was one of the only real rebels in the music industry, anyone that will take a shit on stage and throw it at fans is cool in my books, shoot heroin up on stage, beat the shit out of people, get beat up, vomit all over and then die from an heroin overdose and be buried in a jock strap, leather jacket and jack danial's bottle is crazy. Actually people believe the guy was a sociopath. This guy was on a mission to make rock'and'roll dangerous again, and succeded in the punk scene, at least at his shows. take a look at the band the exploited too, starting riots and burning cop cars is much more anti authority, and true to its self than most of the crap people believe is rebellious or satanic, I dunno what im saying but people like manson are 100% fame fortune and glory, i'll do whatever it takes to get people to like me

thats not trance, its a electronic genre called hardcore, check out some of these DJs

Dougal
Hixxy
Sy
Scott Brown
Sharkey
Recon
Marc Smith
Neophyte
Anabolic Frolic -- little bit harder to digest, he is happy hardcore

Those are all some of my favorite hardcore DJs they are kinda hard ot find in the states even if you download it. Try downloading the record Bonkers 15, you can find it on alot of bit torrent trackers, it was released semi recently, its good as hell. If you are into metal, or dark stuff you might like Industrial Hardcore, i tend to stay away from it while tripping it kinda scares me, very intimidating bass lines and whatnot. If your familiar with bit torrent i can hook you up with a link for a private hardcore tracker site, cant post on here cause they like to be descreet.

you know, every ten years or so our country and some other little country start firing all of our newest weapons at one another, like it or not it happens and when it happens people get shot, and when people get shot they show it on TV every night at six o'clock and you dont have to even be 18 to watch it. You dont even need to be in first grade....., first grade where they teach you the pride you'll need to know to learn to survive in the world monday through friday while you stare at the floor and then on sunday they make you go to school once more only this time they make you listen to a guy in a suit and a tie pretending to know where people go when they die telling us that only the meek are going to inheiret the earth, well shit by this time the kid dont know what anything is worth......., now brothers and sisters i am only one guy and i dont even know the words to that song "Louie Louie" but i can tell you this right now without battin' an eye that the next time some latchky kid goes wrong it aint gonna be because that Eminem got to use the word fag in his song...., now i aint trying to preach to you, you know, i'm just trying tos tryng a few words together thats all.........hey kids....... Lets get it on....Lets get it on. It's the feel good hit of this endless summer that gets these kids out of controlllllllllll...singing along to that star spangled bummer, hail hail rock n roll

I'm into all sorts of stuff, but for the last year or so I've mainly been into drum and base, uk hiphop (not the mainstream shit) and stuff like that.

I can't get into hardcore myself, especially happy hardcore - oldskool rave is fucking amazing though, when hardcore and drum 'n bass were one genre..

I listen to hardcore punk mostly. Any band that has ever had Anthony Green in it is definately my preference. Saosin, Circa Survive, The Sound of Animals Fighting ect. I guess I'm in to the emo scene music wise. Moneen, Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria, Taking Back Sunday ...

when I'm high I love trancey stuff and reggae though...

Has anyone ever heard of Sigur Rós? BEST BAND EVER to listen to when you're high ... it's so surreal

Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása = best song on the planet (they're icelandic)

another good high-band is Panic & The Rebel Emergency good hip-hoppy reggae ^_^

I guess hardcore punk is actually stuff more along the lines of Alexisonfire(?), and I didn't list any, but I do listen to that too. I suppose my tastes are considered more "hardcore" for my area, although they're probably not. I don't usually listen to pure screamo...

For fans of ??hardcore punk? underground scenes, ??Saosin, Circa Survive, The Sound of Animals Fighting? may very well already be in your cd or record collection, alongside other classic albums by artists like good charlote simple plan, white stipes and Taking Back Sundays. If its not, you better take a break from sewing punk rock patches on your pants and pick up a copy before anyone notices how lame you are.
