Are they ready to Harvest? (first grow)

Not sure what to do. 2 days past 8 weeks since going to 12/12. Looked under a serious microscope and see the 'mushrooms' are clear but occluded like a bad diamond. A couple heads are amber. The hairs are turning.

I have a white widow & NL x shiva. The WW is more immature. The NLxShiva has been in pure ph'd water for about 2 weeks now. The WW- 1 week.

I'm worried about letting them go too long. Thoughts? I could try to take better pics if need be.

Even the one in the first pic on the left? I don't really see any hairs on it anymore but that might be because it was closer to the light & withered?
I'm just so worried about this and lost.

And I can't find a good picure of what 'cloudy' spores look like. I'm still unclear if I should judge by the hairs or the little mushroom dealies. :)

This is from around a week or 2 ago. I've only seen a couple leaves yellow & die at the bottom of the WW (she's not as developed as the NLxShiva). I keep expecting this leaf dieoff but it doesn't happen.

i grow white widow myself and they always finish in 62-65days for me. i use clones though and when i grew these same ww's from seed almost a year ago they took 79 days to finish, as you can see the clones of those plants finish much faster now. those 2 pics still look like they got a long way to go, are you sure they are only a week or 2 old they look to have a month lleft from those.

I just took pics. The first 2 is NLxShiva, next 2 is WW, last is NLxShiva.
I think the WW isn't ready. It's the NL I'm concerned with. I have no idea what I'm doing.

The trichomes should be mostly cloudy with some clear and like 10-20% amber.... Thats what I'm waiting for

OK, I can't see anything under my magnifying glass. I put it under a serious microscope. They aren't cloudy but some are amber. The clear ones have occlusions in them (if you liken them to diamonds), but not cloudy.

Should they appear milky or whiteish? And - they go from clear to cloudy to amber? That order?

yeah thats the order well I also heard its good to have that same ratio... clear/cloudy/amber, also remember if you have to many amber its not good cause when you dry the trichomes they will still be maturing so you want just a few amber as for milky or whitish I'm not sure on the color

How close is your magnifying glass, I had a 2x and 5x but I had to buy a 15x cause the others were to far to see. With the 15x I get really get in their to see whats growing on:thumbsup:

I never like to say something is ready for harvest because I'm ever so bad for harvesting to soon .................. but from the two pics on you're very first post, I would have to say that the one in the first pic is very ready.
Those are really ripe buds on the first pic and the ones on the second pic are not very far behind ;)

Mand - Thanks! That bud in the very first pic is the same as the tallest, main one in the very last pic of the whole plant. I'm very tempted to grab the top of that one - at least. Tomorrow I plan to look at it under the scope again. I only looked at one of the little leaves sticking out from it and not the actual bud parts. Maybe I need to do that? I've been pretty lost since the other places went down.

Any other opinions? Anyone know of any actual good trich pictures showing the 'cloudiness' I'm supposed to be looking for?

You should be good in a FEW days.. But, only very few!:)

Don't wait TOO long, since the THC will start to brake down.. :) but, it doesn't brake down in an instance!:p

Wait for Latewood or someone who can give you PERFECT facts!:p

Thanks for those pics!!! under the microscope (40x?), I don't see any cloudy. Just clear and a few amber. Some amber ones only have amber at the base of the ball. There doesn't seem to be any inbetween clear & amber.
Now I question if my light source is too strong or I need a filter. Wondering if the lightsource is shooting thru the heads too much and making it appear clear. :)

I think my magnifying glass is 10x? When I take a visual without anything - they appear white. Gosh - I guess I'm going to be winging this. Go on gut feeling.

Hello Moreover :) can I just ask if it is possible for you to post a few more bud pics from around different parts of the plant .......... sorry to be a pain and it doesn't matter if you can't. Only from the close up of the first pic I would say that those buds are looking in their prime ;)

Well this is only my opinion but I would say that those buds are ready ;)
The thing is I don't go by the trichomes, I know that you are supposed to but I just don't :o
I try to go by the general look, the pitsels, the experience of growing, the amount of resin, and also I have a very good little book with pics of buds ready for harvest and this book basiclly learn't me how to grow ;)
Oh plus 26 years of smoking and looking at weed :o

I think you said that it is a Northern Lights x Shiva strain, I tell you what love I reckon you have a very potent smoke on you're hands there :)

When checking the trichs it is best to do in the dark or near dark. I use one of those 60 by 100 from Radio Shack. I tried the same bud in the light and the dark and got a different look.

Sorry for not responding. First I want to thank you all for your help.
I harvested that plant, but I think it dried out too much? I hung it for 6? days and am trying to cure it now. I don't think I did it right. The White Widow will be 10 weeks flower in 2 days so I think it's about time. This time I'll hang it for perhaps 3 days. Not sure. The White Widow has about double the amount & size of flowers than NL x Shiva. I think it looks great.

I grew them under a 400 watter. I still have to learn more about proper trimming at harvest time. Still sketchy as to how close to the flower I need to cut. Can't find good instructions on preparation. I go between worrying I'm cutting too close vs. not enough.
