Probably. But then a lot of people today could. Did Andrea claim that she was told to kill her kids?
I think the main point of that part of the Bible was to test Abraham's obedience. God did send an angel to stop him. Also, when looking at the culture it was the blood sacrifice (using animals) that covered the persons sin. Other cultures that sacrificed their children to their gods, and Isrealites that chose to follow that custom, were punsihed by God. Later, God sent Jesus to become the ultimate sacrifice for all our sins.
I am still studying it, but as I understand it now, Jesus fullfilled the Law as far as the cermonial Law that was given to Moses is concerned. That does not absolve the Christian from following the the Ten Commandments (the only part of the Law directly written by God on the stone tablets) and the spirit of the rest of the Law. Basically, if we choose to accept Christ a key pat of that is to choose to accept Him as our sacrifice for our sins. He is now intereceding on our behalf so we don't half to spill anymore blood to cover our sins. We no longer have to try to keep the ceremonial Law as a means to salvation. We choose to live by the spirit of the Law because we love and desire to honor God.

To be honest, Today we would put Jesus in an institution. Not to discredit who he was, just to show who we are now. I guess an institution would have been better than the cross, maybe.....
And NOT to confuse andrea yates with Jesus. Anyone who can chase down and drown their own children is dark.....period.
