Roaches not universal?

I rolled a J with a cardboard roach ... my girlfriend, her best friend, and some other people all thought I was crazy for it... they still do. I look like a goon.

Roaching a J ( a piece of rolled cardboard approx 6mm long) means you can smoke all that lovely green down to the roach so you get less waste.

I roll with roaches, longer than 6mm though! Having a decent roach in ur blunt makes the smoke flow better and from gettin resined. even made blunts with double roaches, like "s" shaped curled up. its good makin a coned roach for big spliffs. The oldskool way is just as good

a roach is like a cigarette filter on a joint but a cardboard tube. Lots of people in europe and the UK use a roach. Ive never seen anyone roll a joint without one and i know a lot of stoners.

yeah it means both, can be the rolled up cardboard filter or just the end of the j, i used to roll w/o em, but you get a much better shape to the j if you use em, and i'd always forget what i did w/ my old roaches when i used to save em, this way you can just smoke the whole thing...has anybody ever hit when the filter was burning tho, trying to get the last bits of weed, its pretty nasty, harsh as hell lol

I guess it depends where your from, i think the end of a j is called a roach coz it looks like a cockroach (dduuurr). In the Uk paractically everyone uses roach

i always call a roach the very end of a joint that u cant smoke cuz u burn ur fingers, but then agian i dont no much about joints or roaches i just smoke bowls cuz i suck at rolling and im to lazy to roll i'yd just rather pack a bowl. but quick question ... i remeber reading online that a roach is the strogest part of the joint becuase it collects resin and thats why its all brown and kinda gooey, if u use a carboard roach do u think the resin would build up on the card board and go to waste?

I always roll my J's without a roach/tip/filter/tube, twist up one tip, and THEN insert the roach/tip/filter/tube. It helps pack the weed in more, and give you a firmer, smoother J.

Roach is a term that has been used by brits for many years and it can hardly be called a filter since it does no such thing.
Filters do just that ,they filter, since a roach has no filtering qualities why call it a filter? ;)

i dont use cardboard when i roll blunts or Js i just throw the roach in a bowl i never seen anyone do that down here we either smoke it or save ithe roach for later

Jeff u r one ignorant bitch, u cannot call a tube of card a filter. in a way the roach is the most potent part of a spliff because that is where all the resin collects, and if u have the bright idea of puttin a roach (not filter) in it then u can smoke all that precious resin without burning your finger or stickin it in a bong! wow - TriP

A lot of res does come on filtered spliffs. The resin just doesn't clog it up. On non-filtered spliffs, the res clogs it up most of the time....

depends on how its rolled the way i roll it the roach is fat and the mouth piece is wide so it does not clog my joints get cloged up though.

Youve contradicted yourself your sayin your j's clog up but they dont clog up! and if it does block up big time, just poke somethin thin down the roach (like ur penis) and unblock it.

ive smoked alot with alot of ppl and ive never in my life seen sumone use a peice of cardboard or anything like that in a j or blunt ive only herd about it from stories ive read on cannabis.com. ill never use one myself i just save my roaches and make generation blunts or joints out them

roach is the key to a proper joint, keeps the shape, holds the resin, you smoke all your weed, you'r not burning yourself... plus a j without a roach becomes like shit after it is smoked more than half. paper gets wet, oily and u burn ur lips.

Its just a regional thing. Almost nobody around here uses roaches. We also roll with no tobacco filler. There is no right or wrong, its just your style.

ive smoked a joint with a friend before when i was peaking on shrooms, i ate a 1/8 full of caps and when we were smoking the joint, we didnt have a filter so we were just gonna see who could take the last hit without pussing out. So i take a hit and its almsot done, burnt my fingers. and when i watch him try and take a hit, i swear that he smoked the rest of the thing and it just turned into ash and blew away on the wind. i had to shut my eyes for a second and when i opened them he was packing the rest into a bowl, lol it was sweet
