The government had better realize
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sent this as a letter to the editor of the seattle
pi,
they called me that same morning, so I thought for
sure they'd print it in the sunday paper
But,
I just checked the online edition and they haven't
printed it yet.
Actually I think there is asenior editor at the pi who
always blocks my letters because they don't want to do
anything that might actually make people think!
It seems that all my pro pot letters have me blacklisted.
so if ya wann do me a favor, please copy my letter and if you want to add some of your own words.
and send this letter to any newspaper that has printed the article about how washingtons state's number 8 crop is marijuana
the newspaper article says that the work that goes into these mega pot farms is incredible.
wow, stoners working! I thought weed was unmotivational!
It's been over a year since they have printed my
letters.
Dear Editor,
Since marjuana is now the number 8 cash crop in
washinton state, the time has come to legalize this
benificial herb.
It's not only just for getting high, it helps the sick
and you can make anything that can be made of wood,
plastic, or oil out of it.
You could even save the trees by printing this
newspaper on HEMP!
The government had better realize this before they are
overgrown!

You should probably add more to that, it doesnt really have much content. Just being constructive, it kinda comes off as unintelligent.
yeah, back that up with some research for proof, and it could be good. you bring up some fine points.

Yoda, your avatar is just sitting there getting it's ass kicked by bedake's.
Oh and yeah. That letter really isn't newspaper worthy. Let's critique.
Back up those facts with some information. And by that, I DON'T mean copy and paste from bigbluntsmokers.com or something. Write it in your own words.
Make sure it comes across as impartial. As in, you've looked at the facts, and have reached the conclusion that it's beneficial. Not just a stoner explaining why everyone should be getting fucked up.
Make the vocabulary advanced, but not too much. "Advocate" is a good one. "Colloquialism" is a bad one.
Bring up the counterpoints. There are reasons why it shouldn't be legal. For instance, everyone over 50 is terrified of it.
Don't overdo it. Make a point, then move on.
And of course, be nice, funny, witty, and firm.
Oh, and start it with "To whom it may concern".

I have always had better luck in getting my letters printed by making them sound plain speaking, and I have noticed that most newspapers only take short letters.
I see that someone here claimed my letter was not "newspaper worthy"!
how much do you wanted bet that I have had way more letters published than theirs ever have.
that is,
IF THE CRITIC EVER HAD A PRO POT LETTER PRINTED!

It doesn't matter, most people don't have the opportunity to get a letter printed because they don't write letters to editors.
About, a week and a half ago, I e-mailed a local news station saying that they need to tell it's viewers about all this wealth of information, on the positive aspects of marijuana, coming out and especially to educate on the Cannabinoid System, both endogenous and exo-. Hopefully, that will manifest and the subject can be brought up.

Letters to the editor should be plainspoken. They should also be short. But most importantly they should persuade - your letter doesnt really do that. Also, what is the point of persuading people who agree with you? Thats just a love fest. You need to pitch it to the people who DONT agree. Lets read your letter from the point of view of a conservative 'murrican who voted for Bush....

[QUOTE]
Why? So what if lots of ppl grow it? Lots of ppl do stupid things - does that mean we should cave in to them. Anyway, its still the demon weed and will turn nice young girls to life of crime and prostitution

So what? we have wood - and replacing wood with hemp would mean vast tracts of forest land would be given over to hemp. We have plastic and medicine for the sick. How does this justify legalizing this extremely dangerous drug?

Hunh? You are making threats? Well I am not impressed by warnings from some pothead (who cant even spell "marijuana" properly) and I doubt if the Federal Government is much worried either.
What you have written is mostly just opinion with arguments to back it up. People will either agree or disagree but no one will be persuaded.

erm sorry about that typo in the last sentence, "opinions without arguments to back it up"

I like it. It's short and simple. Maybe they'll print it. Usually, though, it's best to send letter in response to articles, because they're more likely to print responses. Good job

okay so I had to personally contact the letters editor, and I found out that it was just in a stack of letters they had chosen to print.
but nowadays they get so many letters that it takes a couple of days to show up.
