No, it doesn't. You need to clarify what you mean when you say this because in the context you're using it in it's a myth.

You don't eat enough. Use www.fitday.com and track your calories, you aren't eating as much as you think. You could eat 7 meals a day and not eat enough calories to gain weight. It has nothing to do with how many times you eat, it's what you eat. I use to think I ate a lot when I weighed 135lbs, now I've put on over 60lbs, mostly muscle.

If you want to lose weight you have to burn off morecalories than you consume, if you wanna gain weight it aint all that simple!

Granted muscle weighs 3 times more than fat, like someone has said. Weight is very hard to gain for some people, as is losing weight for some people!

Just so you know in order for you to gain weight at 182lbs you would have to eat appx. 4200 calories a day, which I can GUARANTEE you aren't eating anywhere close to that now(obviously, or you'd be gaining weight). You need to calculate your bodies bmr, and eat about 22-25 calories per lb you weigh to gain weight.

I started lifting when I was 5'11 135lbs probably about 9% body fat. I'm just under 200lbs now @ 11% body fat.

I dunno, I munch chocolate and biscuits and shit, and have 3 good meals and munch all through the day. I'm 6'2" and from like 7 or 8 years of swimming my muscle mass never decreases lol.. I've been asked if I take steroids by people at school before man lol.

Chocolate and biscuits aren't going to do very much for you. 3 meals isn't going to put on any weight unless you're consuming 1500 calories a meal which would be pretty difficult.

How much you eat is 100% irrelevant if the food doesn't contain sufficient calories. YOu need protein, complex carbs and good fats to put on quality weight, plus weight training-obviously. If you ate chicken breasts all day you could eat 15 of them and not have nearly enough calories to gain weight, eat calorie dense food.

No offense, but I'm not exactly sure why people would ask you if you use steroids weighing 182lbs @ 6'2. That's considered skinny to most people I know. Of course if you're a swimmer then bulking might not be in your best interests:)

No, I quit swimming a few years back.. but never lost my muscle mass and tone, and don't. That's what I meant to say lol. :)

being skinny aint easy. i could go into heartbreaking detail, but i wont. just knowthat nothing fits me, big women hate me, and i feel like a freak, everyone seems to think i have an eating disorder-which i definetly dont, and people feel the need to point out my petiteness even though i am totally aware of it and not exactly thrilled. im about 100 on a good day, 5'3'' and 18. was born less than two pounds, about 2.5 months early with a gastrointestinal disease. plus, the skinny gene runs in the family, so its not my fault im like this. im happy im not big, but being small definetly isnt all glitter and gladness like it seems. and im not american

Yea im labeled alot as anorexic or a heroin addict, my parents constantly tell me i look unhealthy, gaunt and lots of things, oh well im happy being me.

But how come the title of this was changed by a mod? It seemed fair since there was a fatness thread for americans

Nothing wrong with being skinny. I just couldn't stand it. I was always looking at bodybuilding magazines and liked the weight room where my mom worked when I was a kid. It just took me a while to do something about it.

muscle does weight more than fat.

like if you turned all your fat into muscle you would weight more. is that in clarity enough for you?

prove me wrong.

The fact of the matter is that a pound of muscle and a pound of fat weigh the same, a pound. A pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat does.

I've allways been skinny, in high school I was freakishly skinny. I tried to gain weight, tried eating more, I tried working out and eating protien shakes, but nothing I did would make me gain weight. I use to look at my wrists and just see skin and bone almost it made me sick. I had low self esteem cause I thought I was a freak because I was so skinny, but after high school I came to just accept it, I have a high metabolisim and there is nothing I can do about it! I got a belly now, but I'm still fairly skinny lol but I acept who I am, Me.

You should get tested for Celiac Disease. If you cannot do this, try a gluten free diet. I thought that I had a "high-metabolism" but it was actually malabsorbtion due to celiac. One in a hundred people have it, but the vast majority, over 97%, are undiagnosed (in the United States). It is EXTREMLY important to address this, in cases such as yours.

You werent' eating enough. Nobody's body denies the principals of thermodynamics. If you eat enough you WILL gain weight, it's a fact. If you weren't counting your calories and you didn't know your bodies bmr you would have no clue as to how much you were eating and how much you actually need to gain weight.

Exactly what I was thinking... Eat a tub of butter or 2 everyday for a week... and buy lots of spot cream while you're at it haha :p

I am an American and skinny as hell. What are you talking about? I have no sympathy for fat people because 95% of the time those folks are just lazy and eat garbage all the time. Fat people should wake up and see that they are gonna die at an early age if they don't lose weight. I consider being fat almost as bad as smoking cigerettes.

Hell yeah, I mean if I ever notice myself losing my tone and getting flabby I'll be like "I'm not gonna eat so much" and stay as I am... but I don't see that happening anytime soon ;)

Yea consistency is the key. Stuffing your face for 4 days isn't going to do anything. You may weigh more, but that's just food in your system. One lb a week is a good goal to aim for when bulking. Of course this is assuming you are going to the gym on a regular basis and know what to do while you're there. The gym is the easy part. That's only 45-60 minutes of my day. Diet is every hour that you're awake.
