Has anyone actually gone to prison or heard of first-hand experiences inside of one? I'm not talking the local jail, I mean federal prison. How many of those myths (like getting it up the ass) are true and false? How does the society operate in there? Is there really as much male sexuality in there as in the movies?

A friend (well you could call him that) of my mother's was in state prison for 11 years. He told me a lot of stories. It's rough shit. The first couple of days he was in there this big black guy came up to him and said he was going to meet him in his cell later that night. Another guy came up to him, and said you know, he's going to come to your cell tonight, and he's going to fuck you in the ass. Do you want that? Hell no! Well, you gotta shank him then. The guy gave him a shank later that day, a 6" piece of metal. When they were in the yard, the black guy was lifting weights. He went up and stabbed him while he was lifting weights. The guards grabbed him and sent him to solitary. He never found out if the guy died or not, but he never saw him anymore.

Sounds like shit out of a movie I know.. I don't even know if I believe it all. But he's definitely got the scars to match.

You got that right...I fought the first year in there but after I "proved" myself I was left alone. Prison is NOT nice....and Alabamas are so corrupted the Federal has taken over it now...hope my friends are faring better but I doubt it.

i knew a guy who went to prison for armed robbery at a dairy queen, he locked the clerks in the freezer.

i didnt learn this, however, untill my mom and i went to portland to get his records for his ex wife, who was divorcing him at the time.

he had told me that he only KNEW that his friends were going to rob a GUN STORE. he told my sister that it was a mc donnalds.

Yeah I have 2 friends I send money to every month and christmas boxes. You can believe this..when their release date gets here I will do anything I can to help them because they were always there for me..always! The true racists in the prison I was in was the blacks...I did my time in Julia Tutwiler for Women in Alabama...the food we had brought in was actually stamped "Not fit for human consumption" everyone thinks you got it made in there...sheesh what a myth. I saw things I will never be able to get out of my mind. Finding people dead in their beds..And you know Alabama still does not have a self defense law?? You could hardly breath in the summer months....froze in the winter so the weaker ones really did die....no medical care...I was on visitation with my Mom one weekend and out of all us visiting that day..they made my Mom leave to make room for more visitors..all black of course. Yeah I know what life is like in a prison. I had a violent crime so i wasn't eligible for any community programs and when I did go up for Parole one time I was protested...so I just EOS'd after my appeal and sentence reduction. There were gangs but I mainly stayed to myself except for a few tried and true friends...I had alot of time to pull and that was how I got through it...can you imagine getting a timesheet with nothing but zeros for your release date? I was so young and ignorant so I do try and tell people what it is really like in a STATE prison. The messed up thing was at my trial my husband actually testified about what he did to me..had the police and hospital reports on all my broken bones but guess what? I hurt one of their own and Alabama played hardball with me. I'm not proud of going to prison but it did make me who I am...It got so bad that my dad finally got with the prison commisioner and actually told him I better look the same when I come out as I looked when I went in. I always heard the mens prisons are worse...and I also that Texas is the toughest. True? Oh and yeah we were called peckerwoods,crackers,and nazis lol. Did you know that the majority of them could not even read? I never knew people were illiterate until they started asking me to read them their mail and write letters home for them...I even saw one young black girl get cut up literally because she went to visit her father and her bulldagger walked right into visitation and started cutting her...Did you see evil like that?

Prison is wild thats for sure. The guys a still talk to have alot of time still to go. One is serving a 65 year bid and the other has natural life.

The craziest thing I saw was a guy get hot-potted. Slashings were pretty common place as were stabbings. After a month of that they really aren't a big deal and I just chuckled at the poor bastard getting popped because you know they had to have done something really stupid. The nastiest thing I saw was some T.S. member get a hot-pot full of boiling snickers bar thrown all over his face. The chocolate cools really fast so when the paramedics peel off the chocolate, they pretty much peel off your face. The mexicans are also big fans of growing their fingernails really long and dipping them in the floor wax you can find occasionally.When they would scrath a guys face it gets really infected and scars for life. Not pretty.

My best friend is doing 30 years for MJ..and she is 55 now. We had to keep our nails trimmed to a 1/4 inch and had our hair cut up above our collars. Man that snickers thing sounds really evil! Women tended to do more disgusting things like putting used sanitary pads in the big cook pots in the kitchen when they had to cook..or pouring urine in the coffee...nasty. The first thing I ate when I walked out those front doors was chocolate doughnuts and chocolate milk lol. Our prison didn't have milk and no fruit. We were called longtimers...special dorm for us...15 yrs and above and you were put in that dorm. One woman actually strangled her children,dressed them in their sunday suits and then called her ex to come pick them up for church...said it was cocaine made her do it..thats who I had to sleep next to...never even talked with her. Thanks for letting me know your experience and I'm not alone on here. Now I need a smoke lol.:smokin:

Just hearing these stories makes me want to never touch weed again.

I heard that if you threaten to kill yourself they will send you to K-1, which is supposed to be like a jail for the suicidal. Thats the case in Wisconsin, anyways. I guess its supposed to be like solitary confinment or something, which would be much better than the alternative.

I ended up in the county jail for a month on a DWI/DUI... I had no Ciggs and was buying 2 for 1 from a couple cell mates... I was waiting on a money order to my jail bank account to clear so I could buy ciggs and pay off the dudes... Well I had 3 days left and when commissary came around they told me I had no money in the bank because it was election day and the bank was closed... I turned around and 6 dudes were pissing in cups... I asked the guard to please help me and he did an immediate lock down and grabbed me... As we were walking to holding I asked why they were pissing in the cups,he said they were going to microwave it and throw it on you,,,Whew that was a close one... I spent my last 3 days in holding praying that the word did not get around of where I was...

When I left the jail the fuckers took my bank money cause I did not have my issued sheets and blanket... I told them What happen and as I started to argue I thought to myself,what if they put me back in for being disorderly,so I shut up and let them rip me off...

jail is the same as the streets just more bars and less pussy.
as long as i see light at the end of the tunnel i can do time.
one thing that kind of got me is when i seen some fool who i thought was a bad man who could handle his shit just lost it and cried like a bitch.that made me HUMBLE.
even the tough can be broken.mentally is the first form of torture the body will follow.
if you cant do the time dont do the crime

do they give you books while in prison? like can you request certain books to read?

If they let me read any book I asked for, I'd be happy as hell as long as people left me alone, I read a short story a couple of years ago that changed my life, made me really appreciate reading not that I didnt before but yea. As long as they gave me a non stop supply of books I'd be happy,

The CO's (we got in trouble if we called them guards) were outnumbered in our prison like 1 co for every 100 inmates...they could care less...most think we all are nothing in there anyway...consider the type of person that applies for a job such as a correctional officer...most are mentally deranged from the get go...there is no safety from a co in the prison I was at. Google Julia Tutwiler in Wetumpka,Alabama and read for yourself about all the deaths....thats when the feds stepped in. Right now I believe there are like 1,400 women in a prison that was built in 1940 for 350...not a nice enviroment. Google about Julia and you will see Alabamas form of justice. Thats why I try and tell my experience because some of these young people think it's cool and they are tough...it's not and honestly it could even kill you.

Anyone can go...and it can happen faster than you would ever think possible. I lied for my husband for a long time..I was beaten down at least every other day for years and still did nothing...the last time he locked me in our bedroom..I went to sleep and was woke up being choked...he was going to kill me that night..I knew it..because he knew I was going to leave him finally and he would tell you now what he did to me was inhumane and he should have went to prison. I shot him twice is why I did so much time..and telling the judge I would do it again didn't help me so...but all in all I have a good life now so it's all good. He would even make me go to work with him sometimes so he could "monitor" me..and I promise I never gave him any reason to mistrust me..he was an alcoholic with a badge and insanely jealous. Thats why I get very emotional about men that degrade women and think its so cool and funny..no woman should ever be raped or beaten...its just evil and I really have to pray sometimes when I think about somethings..but anyway..yep I am a woman that went,done it and still kept my sanity..part of it anyway lol.

ive been to juve for a week...not old enough to go to jail yet(but not planning on it either)....wasnt to bad....it was actually easy....we sat in a activity room and played games most of the day....sometimes like b4 lunch and showers and shit we would have to stay in our room but only for about an hour....the most parts that sucked was there was no windows so u never saw daylight....and sleeping, that sucked...it was to quiet and it was hard to fall asleep...that and the bedtime...9 pm...to early for me..that and when the gaurd flashed the light in the room every 15 mins that sucked...the day i got out i layed on my bed and thanked god i was home...i know it doesnt seem long...but a week in there feels like months....it woulda been nice to have a roomate though...but nope all by urself in a small ass room....i usually just read in there since thats the only thing to do in there....really boring

I'd have to say I don't agree with either of you. It is a terrible idea to wait and hope things get better but eventually use a gun, but it isn't the woman's fault. As humans, we all learn tolerance. Many people have parents who raised them to be passive no matter what when it comes to violence. As women, growing up makes them even more passive. Men are enouraged to be assertive and independent and women are taught to be neat and passive. The next time you go to school, look at the girls in class. Count how many of them you know you could punch in the face and say not to tell or you'd do it again, and they'd actually not tell. It would be a majority. Until women and men are raised the correct (but not necessarily same) way, this violence will continue.

A little off subject here buy anyway, I met some of the best tattoo artists I have ever seen in Prison. Amazing work considering the supplies they had to work with. Y ou would be really suprised what a sharpened guitar string, pen ink,and shaved blue M&M coloring can make.

Yes it did feel good...no one really knows what was done to me but the system...but yeah it made me feel good enough I didn't want to call 911...but I did. Some people are just evil and he was that way. Wow...this is like making me feel good to tell the truth about my early years...all I remember thinking after I did it was...he can't hurt me anymore. The only shame I have over this is how it affected my family...I was selfish and hurt my loved ones...that was my one regret....they were good parents and I hurt them so much..I hate myself sometimes for the pain I caused my parents.

I admit in syntax it isn't prejudice, but in order for someone to remind you of an abuser you must make judgement against them. Hah I think you'll piss yourself when you read about it.Bout this family in Alabama during the civil rights movement...so this boy and his father our experiencing corrupt police beatings on black people the boys fathers sister (so the boys aunt) killed her husband because he kept beating her and she cut off his head put it in a hat box and ran from the law to become famous in hollywood.Though she succeeds and becomes famous shes going crazy and her husbands head is talking to her the whole time.But the other aspect of the movie, civil rights is really really good to.One of my favorite fucking movies ever.

A friend (well you could call him that) of my mother's was in state prison for 11 years. He told me a lot of stories. It's rough shit. The first couple of days he was in there this big black guy came up to him and said he was going to meet him in his cell later that night. Another guy came up to him, and said you know, he's going to come to your cell tonight, and he's going to fuck you in the ass. Do you want that? Hell no! Well, you gotta shank him then. The guy gave him a shank later that day, a 6" piece of metal. When they were in the yard, the black guy was lifting weights. He went up and stabbed him while he was lifting weights. The guards grabbed him and sent him to solitary. He never found out if the guy died or not, but he never saw him anymore. Sounds like shit out of a movie I know.. I don't even know if I believe it all. But he's definitely got the scars to match.

One guy I knew, while doing time in Florida years ago, had another inmate come up to him that said something to the effect that he was going to have his way with him. After that, he was considered "crazy", and nobody ever bothered him again.

I have not had, fortunatly, the experience of spending time in any prison or correctional facility. I've just known, and worked with, several people that have.

The guy that I was talking about was an aquaintance at a that job I had in a shop that hired a lot of ex-cons - many of them had experiece (re: license plate making) in the type of work that the place did, which had to do with metal. The time-clock area of the shop, in the morning, looked like Murderers' Row, and I'm not talking about the old New York Yankees lineup.:dance:

no offence but i find that hard to believe, i mean not all jails are the same but most are in a way, I habe NEVER heard of any kind of rape EVER happening in a jail, only because most jails are 364 days and under no long terms. Maybe in the state pen where im going they get raped but not no little vacation spot like county jail

My nephew is in CA (Soledad). He can't receive gift packages, only letters, money, and stamps. He's a big guy(muscular), so he's only had to fight a couple of times. This is his first strike. He's been in before, twice, had a lot of chances and still screwed up his parole.
