Well, I'm just wondering.. How effecient is a blacklite for growing purposes, and, how many would I need for X number of plants? Anyone have any idea?

Blacklights are pointless for growing. There is no useable light for plants from them. In other words, you cannot grow with a black light. U can however use fluorescent lights. If you have tube black lights, you can replace them with tube fluoros. Or if you have socket black lights you can replace those with compact fluoroescents. Each plant will need at LEAST 2 fluoros to grow properly. You can grow a plant from start to finish on fluoros and get a very good yield, but if u use a different setup for flowering you can get a much heavier yield...

I have herd that black hids work good, they get the right spectrum without burning the plants.

Arent black lights pretty much the same thing as reg bulbs just the outer shell has a different coating. Everything I have ever read said they dont do shit for growing.

i've used black lights to grow house plants on a few occations. Somehow, the plants seem to absorb some of the light. They tend to mutate faster it seems and they get very bright green. It's this weird neon healthy green glow. It's pretty cool.
So Im going to try to use some black lights in combination of a HPS lighting system and see what happens :stoned:

I guess blacklights would be good for the plants if they wanted to go to a rave club and get drunk or something.

Maybe have some glowsticks on strings too. Dunno I think it would be cool to give your plants a vacation and a night of fun. I'm really stoned right now BTW.
