I have managed to kill 4 plants, I think it was because I over fertilized them and don't want to make the same mistake twice, so I need some input Please! In fact I believe we (my husband & I, it wasn't all me)did something really stupid. We bought soil, with fert allready in it, THEN added bloodmeal and to top it off liquid fert. I just didn't realize it, being my first time and all. The poor babies just shrivelled right up. I had one of those clay worms that help you tell if it's moist enough and it grew this furry white substance on it. Will the fert do that? Or could I have possibly just overwatered, I have a tendency to do that. Please someone help or give me any hints !!! Thanx

WOW! thats bad. OK so you need to not have as much fertalizer. More fertalizer encourages male plant production. water every other day. it helps to have a good knowledge about plants in general:thumbsup:

Thanks, I actually have a house full of plants that are thriving, I guess I just over thought this...how embarassing. My brother in law is supposed to give me some seeds, hopefully I'll do better next time. Wish me luck!:o

sounds like too much nitrogen from your fertilizer. flush them w fresh water to save but sounds like too far gone

Do you think I can still use the soil if I flush them? How much water & for how long,? I guess it was the bloodmeal, Oh It makes me mad. Well you live and you learn.

When you start the new seeds, start them off in small pots with seedling starter soil only, no fertilizer at all.

throw out that soil!! it's like $23 for a whole bale of promix! if the soil killed the plants 1 time, you would be just asking for trouble by using it again.

my guess 1) the white fur is MOLD...

how old were the plants?? u should NOT give them nutrients until their 3rd week of life... meaning, when they germinate, u put them in raw plain soil... give'm distilled water n some good light, and u should be well off

Ok listen what you need to do is just leave them alone. The plants grow by themselves. This is the number one mistake made my first time growers. They obess tooo much about trying to do what they think in common sense to be perfect for it. They don't realize that the plant uses soo little every day as a sprout. In fact they can grow in any soil laying around as long as they get light and water. So just relax don't add any fertilizer and watch them grow. When growth slows from the normal natural growth them help them along very gradual. The best gardeners are ones that are patient.

Its also important to let the soil dry out a little between waterings. Roots need AIR too!

AS for the possible mold. When watering add about a capful of bleach every gallon or two, less is better than more. This kill any kind of mold, mildew or fungus that may try to hurt you plant.

Poohcat, Any dutch or canadian seedbank with a good reputation will be legit. My Personal favorite serious seeds is a great example. Ak-47, Bubblegum, chronic, kalimist, and white russian are their strains and are all award winning i believe. Dutch passion is also a legit seedbank. A good canadian seed bank is british colombia seed co., They have Stinky pinky, Famous humboldt strain, and northern lights and all that also reliable.
