fluorescent lights??

Hi guys.... A friend of mine wants to grow some using floros. I couldnt talk him into using better lights...(costs too much ). Somebody out there has likely used fluorescents to grow, but i have always heard that you cant get enough light lumens out of them,and that getting very good flowering is almost impossible. Has anyone done this? What kind of results? :confused:

4 on each side,and 4 on top(6 cool,6 warm),will give you a decent yield....bonbon

Compact flourecents arranged properly can give you good yields and great bud. But of course anything half-assed will yeild half-assed results. Get some full-specturm compact flouros. :)

I have a question about flouros? Can you just buy sockets for them to plug into at stores and stuff? I am planning on using a 250 watt HPS but it is going to be really hard for me to afford it so I am thinking maybe going flouro the first time if I cant raise the money.

people are always saying oh fluoros are bollox, i cant afford good lights but check out the pic and this crop was grown under 36watts!! of fluoros so any one who says ohh u need at least 1million watss per sq cm(over exageration i know, but u get what i mean) screw convention and just do what u want to do, but fluoros are the the lowest quality grow lights u can get hold of, but they still work pretty good. yeh i mean if u can afford it go for hid lights but if ur a little stoner teeneager(like myself) looking to grow a bit of weed for personal use then fluoros are the best bet. my opinions, maybe differnet to your but just expressing my building up concern on the pressure not to use fluoros,

Yeh flouros got a bad name on these boards and from a lot of ppl that haven,t even given them a go.
I have grown under flouros and had some of the stockiest plants i,ve ever grown and yealding a decent amount of compact bud.
No point spending £150 on a sodium if you realise after a few months that growing isn,t for you.

I believe the newest high times (October 2008) has an article about using fluoros for your entire grow. Pick it up if you have a chance. It also has the plug for StinkyAttic so it should be in your scrapbook anyways.

i might have to experiment in the near future with this...that pic is really nice.

Haha, thread is FOUR YEARS old... haven't seen the posters around in a while...

Your best bet is to veg under flouros to save the $$$, and buy a HPS to flower, although you can get buds under flouros ('daylight' are excellent bulbs)- just not as much weight or density.
