will a 105cfm effectively cool a 400w bake a round cool tube setup?
It looks the part but im not sure, What cfm would i need to do it very efficiently?

if you have it...put it together and find out.

Best answer, is latewood's... but my answer might add a little.:::

I have a Bake A Round cool tube setup... It's running a 400W MH inside, and it's getting the air pulled through by a 90CFM 6" fart fan.

It works. The cool tube isn't "cool" to the touch, but it works fine.

Hope this helps,

thanks turtle...so you like your's huh? Sounds like you need more fan though...at least now we have a benchmark...now, if someone builds CT with bigger fan, such as above, we can eventually come to a cfm, that makes BAKE-A-ROUND cooltube 'COOL' to the touch.lw

I have a 500 CMF squirrel cage on 6 lights, it makes BAKE-A-ROUND cooltube 'COOL' to the touch.oh watts 400-1000

Damn I cant wait to get my 465CFm for the next grow then that thing would work for sure then..? Cause now I have a 80Cfm boster fan and it doesnt do the job to the T its oK but I cant leave my closet door closed:( I'm sure when I get the 465Cfm it would to the job and There would be no more light in my room:) I wanted to know about those strong CFM fans, do they make a lot of noise... I mean how loud compared to a regular standard 12inch home fan? I was lookin at the Dayton465Cfm or an ActiveAir465Cfm

Hey LateWood,

As you so kindly suggest, now we've got a "benchmark" to the lowest possible CFM rating for a cool tube. So, anybody that's a cheap MoFo (like me), can use 90CFM. lol !!! :D

I want to upgrade my fan... maybe something around the 200's CFM. Less than 300CFM. It would use that fan to cool the cool tube, and the ballast. Something I'm thinking: If I get that bigger fan, I can get a dimmer switch... then, "dim" the fan until I find out what speed (aprox CFM) will the cool tube be, um, "Cool".

Buk,
A 465CFM fan? Dude, you'll be set with that thing. No doubt. I don't know about the noise, but it'll definitely exhaust your room. For NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), you could install the fan inside a box, and hold it down with bungee cords or something similar. ???

Best everybody,

I was worried about noise too cos stealth is of the essence. When you live with yer mam and dad.

I wanted to add some more input to my low CFM cool tube setup...

About 2 months ago (I think), I had a malfunction with the cool tube fan's (6" 90CFM) timer... and it ran (I'm guessing) around 14-16 hours without any kind of ventilation... the bulb didn't pop (again, it's a 400W MH).

The cool tube, PVC setup thing was SUPER hot... I turned ON the fart fan, and around 1 hour later, it was down to more acceptable levels.

I just found that noteworthy...

Best,

I've got a big ass squirrel cage...but, I got lazy and put in a window unit...for 80 bucks, because the fans I want are going to run about a grand...

Somebody on these boards recently posted a formula that, I think gives a pretty good ballpark figure... I can't take credit (forgot where I read it...) but...

4 CFM/10 W
40CFM/100W
40CFM for every 100watts

What do you guys think?

I don't know...I will check and see if the formula is in the indoor bible...or 5 easy gardens...You guys should really look into getting these books, too!; I find they contain a wealth of info...I'll check.lw

Damn it I never knew those things took so much wattage... There goes the electric bill again

CLARIFICATION:::
Buk,

Those 40 CFM / 100 watts...

Those aren't 100watts to generate those 40 CFMs... no no no...

It reads::: 40 CFM needed, for every 100 watts of cooled lights.

So, if you have 200 watts of lights, you need 40*2=80 CFM to cool those lights...

In my setup, I'll have 1000W... so I'll need around 400CFM to cool the cool tubel... yikes!

LateWood::: Yes, I need to get books ASAP... it's just that,... my lazy ass... ;)

O K:dance: thats cool to know... Hey turtle do you think that light dimmer thing will work, thats a good ass Idea, if it does I would get the 465CFM;)

Damn but if I did the math right all I need is 160CFM for a 400w :) thats good. Damn Good Info Turtle:thumbsup:

Ill get back to you lot on the 105 cfm/400w cool tube situation tell you all how it goes. is it possible to mount 2 fans in the same line or does this cause problems?
cheers

im running a 1000hps with the bake a round cool tube set up with a dayton 465cfm and it is still very warm.....smaller room about 5x9 but i know i dont think the 465 cfm is even enough yet....thinking on adding others to it...just so u know my side
