Whats up guys, Im Acoustic and I have a small indoor compact fluorescent grow system set up... Mind you all this is my very first grow, so feedback and advice would be GREATLY appreciated and helpful to me. Here are the facts on my setup...
2/3 Plant Indoor Grow:
Lights: Three 150w CFL's
Space: 2ft x 2 ft and about 3ft tall.
Medium: Scotts Continuous Feeding Potting Soil
Nutes/Ferts: Greenhouse All Purpose Plant Food (15-30-15)
Air Flow: 3 Speed Tower input to Grow Box
Seeds: I have absolutely no clue can anyone tell me in future weeks???
I am in day 3 of the Growth Cycle @ 18/6. The plants are doing wonderful and look very healthy... Hopefully i will have my cam pics on soon. Note: I just put in the 150 watt lights this evening, for the past 2 days they have been growing under 60 watt Compact Fluorescent lights.
EVERYONES help is GREATLY appreciated, and THANKS in advance...

My ladies are 1 week now, and from the looks of things they are strong and healthy. They seem to be growing faster and faster everyday. :D
A Couple ?'s for the near future of my grow...
1. When exactly should i transplant my plants? Is it looking that i am going to need to do it soon?
2. What about that little guy i have there #3... Should i move him to the same size cup the others are in? or wait till its time for the bigger pot?
Everybody's input has been excellent, so THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP :rasta:
How do my ladies look???

End of Day 8, and I decided to add a CO2 System (Courtesy of Da1KrayzieThug) Thx for the recipe!! I also decided to pick up a growth nutrient by Miracle Grow... Its the indoor liquid nutrient (8-7-6). Has anybody tried that??? I started the nutrients and CO2 @ 8:30p EST so i wont be able to see the effects for hours yet to come... Thx for all the help guys :pimp:
For my first grow i have added to the process i thought at the beginning for growing weed by 1000000000%. Im excited in seeing whats to come...
How am i doing????

I would move that little guy out ASAP, before the roots become entangled. Put him in a seperate container and see if you can save him.
Go very easy on the nutrients... young plants are very delicate. I didn't fert until 3 weeks cuz thats what people told me, but you should be fine as long as you do low doses.
And your plants are lookin good, keep it up

Dont use Mircale Grow on your plants...... Thats what I was told by a few pro growers

02-14-2006, 04:01 PM
Thx, for the input guys... Im thinking now that the Miracle Grow may be a little strong to use on my plants right now... i did add 12 drops of it to 16oz of water and applied it once... So if i stop i think that i should be ok. I will take pictures of the CO2 setup and throw those on this log here soon...
SmokeN'Joe~ What up man, ok i was sooo stoned beyond the point of repair when i wrote that, so lemme try this again... There is a lot more that goes into the growing of cannabis than i thought at the beginning of my project. My hat comes off to those who are able to do this on a large scale with such amazing results. Now that i fixed that i think i am gonna go blaze on a LARGE scale :rasta:
Buk~ Whats up man, thx for the input on my grow... I will hold off on the Miracle Grow for now... but the one that i have seems to be excepti :D onally safe for indoor plants... If i do plan to use it, i will apply it in small amounts once a week and later on in my grow. Thanks for all your help.
ADDING ON TO MY GROW: UPDATE!!!!!!!!!
~Hey Guys, thanks for all the support and help with my grow... My plants are doing wonderful and im hoping for a super strong 2nd week. Last night i decided to germinate 4 more seeds of some really nice bud and put those in on my grow too... which comes to a grand total of 7 plants for my first grow.
~I am going to transplant that third litte guy out of that pot in hopes it will recover nicely... Keep your fingers crossed for me...

Ok everyone heres the newest pics w/ the CO2, and i transplanted the third lil guy that was stuck with #2 into his own spot (Back-left in the picture of all 3) I hoping the transplanting wont hurt either of the plants...
I have a question for the upcoming week... What is my humidity supposed to be at???
I also plan to plant the seeds i started germinating yesterday, today... i took a peek at them, and all 4 successfully sprouted with the papertowel method in about 12 hours (The trick is a warm dark environment for sure)

nice too see you got some CO2 in there, but ya id have to agree with buk, dont use that mircale grow crap, it'll only make your pH rise, and its a little early to feed anyways.. im on my first grow as well and i didnt feed until the 4th week. on that 4th week i gave it a pinch of blood meal, lots of nitrogen, a good 12-0-0 mix which is what vegging plants need
if you have the time or enegry, id give it a try

Day 9: Starting today i noticed that my 3rd plant (The one that got transplanted yesterday) seemed to doing well, but this morning i noticed the biggest leaves have just gone straight up in the air towards the light. IS THIS GOOD???? SHOULD I DO SOMETHING??? Please reference the picture below to understand what i mean... Help! :(
I also decided to plant the last 4 seeds that i germinated and added them into the grow box as well... Now i have a total of 7 plants. Three above, and Four below...
My First two plants seems to be doing WONDERFUL!!! :D Tell me what u think!!!
THE CO2 RECIPE!!!~ (Courtesy Da1KrayzieThug) 1 tsp yeast, 2 cups sugar, WARM water... Dissolve 1 tsp of yeast in a seperate bowl with about 1 cup of WARM water, NOT COLD. Add 2 cups of sugar to a 2-liter bottle, fill WARM water up to the Label add the dissolved yeast and close it up... Reference the plastic tubing setup from my previous pics. GOOD LUCK!!!

generally leaves stretching upwards means they are thirsty, and wiltering droopy leaves like you 3rd and 4th pic suggests over-watering.
Hope this helps.

Whats up guys... A couple days have passed since my last entry, but my plants are doing wonderfully (except for one) Unfortunately the third lil guy that i transplanted from the first small pot slipped out of my fingers and out of the pot, i put her back in but im not sure if she will recover... a rookie mistake for sure. :( The other two are strong and healthy as can be. Their third tier of leaves are almost done and setting up for the fourth (on both plants). WILL HAVE A PIC UPDATE TOMORROW! :rasta:
A big question coming into the end of this week...
SHOULD I TRANSPLANT NOW??? NEXT WEEK??? WHEN???
-Any help on this question would be kick ass right now, i need to know soon, before i end up damaging and killing my plants. HELP!
For now they are strong and healthy and look GREAT. Please help me in my quest for some of my very own, homegrown.

Transplant when you seem fit... I would think ;)

02-17-2006, 01:15 PM
If there are roots coming out of the bottom then you need to transplant pretty fast.
Also if you notice the growth has stopped - this usually is because there is no more root space to grow. A Transplant will also help with this problem.

Day 11 UPDATE: My first two beautiful plants are doing wonderfully. Now i have to transplant them both to bigger pots... Im concerned they will grow out of these pots either today, or tomorrow, and i want to make sure they will not be hurt in this process. Im nervous as shit when it comes to transplanting, i love my ladies.
Plant #1: Lookin good to me, Nice lush green leaves, and its five pointers are starting to come in! :D
Plant#2: This one is a little further ahead of the first it is starting to make room for its second set of five pointer leaves. The strongest and healthiest to me.
Plant #3: Well its still there... still growin, slowly...
TRANSPLANTING :smokin: :
I am going to go ahead and transplant my two ladies into much bigger pots so they can get the room they need and the new nutrients in the soil. They need room for their roots to be able to stretch and gain strength. I mean, honestly, its either now or in 24 hours...

What's up AC420, determining the strain right now is impossible mate, unless it has very significant characteristics, you can't even determine the strain when you flower.
But, on the other hand, you can know which family the plant is from. I'm guessing Indica plants here, since the leaves are wide and the propagation of the second set of branches comes quite low. This means you'll probably have a small, bushy plant. But again, telling the strains gonna be hard.
Upcoming weeks take steady feeding and root development. This is why an 18/6 light schedule is better for seedlings than clones. The seeds need darkness to root.
Also, I've noticed you wanted to repot? This is a good idea, and now is about the time to do it, maybe wait another day.
Now if you're afraid of repotting, which I was too in the beginning, there's a good alternative for root propagation. Look at the pic, when you cut out the bottom of your current pot, and place it into a bigger pot, filled with the same soil, the roots will grow through the earlier pot into the bigger pot, since they always search for space, wether it's downwards or sideways, heck even upward.
The roots growing through into the bigger pot, will certainly make the seedlings bigger, since a longer rooting system equals a longer stem. Don't take a pot that is too big, or too small, stay within the shown proportion. ;) good luck!

What up Harvesthetic, thx for the help and advice with my grow... I do continue a controlled 18/6 light schedule. :) Although on the repotting... i may have forgotten to mention that i repotted yesterday, so when i do need to repot i will do that method you proposed, but i really dont think tomorrow will have to be that day... do you???
Thx for the help on the strain too, i guess that will be a never-ending mission to find out what the fuck im really smoking, but as long as it is the best i can do i will be satisfied... thx again... :rasta:

thx AC420 (:p) I regret to inform you that scrogging wouldn't be the way to go in your case.
You're growing from seeds. For a decent scrog/sog, clones (branches from motherplants that you put into the soil, and root) are actually a bit necessary, or at least seeds from the exact same strain. Because each strain grows at its own pace, and have their specific hallmarks. You need steady, simultaneous growth on each plant, certainly for a scrog. Otherwise one of the plants will be overpowered by the other, and steal its light.
Now I've seen LST on seedlings, but this takes a long time. So I suggest you wait for a bit ;). But, you can always bend regular plants, man, Powder Puff bent his main stem on one of his plants. Here's a pic.
Increasing yield can be done in many ways. Look it up ;) I'm a bit tired :p

Hey whatsup, Whats growin on:thumbsup:
I saw your other post so I'll try to help as much as I can;)
Their lookin good from the pix u posted as far as for the repotting umm I mean how tall do u want them to get? Cause if you want them to get about 3ft tall(end of harvest) just get 3gal pots if you want 4ft plants get 4gal pots, you get the picture.:) I hope you already knew that you should determine the height of your plants at the end of the VEG stage. They usually double their height from the ending of Veg to about harvest time, so you have total control of that. If you plan to use tho CFLs thru the whole Flower I suggest you dont let them get so tall cause then the light wont be able to penetrate the buds at the bottom..
Since Harv said SCROG isnt best for you I suggest you TOP your plants.(look thru Mands pgs 4 that). Now I did my topping around 1 week before i started 12/12 and it worked great:thumbsup: You should at least try it on 1 plant if your scared if not all... I tried on 4 out of my 9 and 1 of my topped plants was a male, so I have about half topped and half not topped... I want to see which will harvest more in my conditions to see which I like best:thumbsup:
If you didnt use this method for transplanting your plants then start to use its the best method I seen and done, I'm pretty sure everyone will agree I know Me, Puff and BKskillz all used it and had great results.http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=29705
Oh U should start looking into some Nutes for veg they will start to need it around the next week or so... I used Mexican bat guano (use ferts high N), my plants loved it but everyone has their own stuff they use I guess but I'm sticking with that stuff I did wonders for my plants:thumbsup:
How close are your light to ur plants? and are u using a fan to cool the lights?

looking good...Hey on the trasnsplant to bigger pot...excellent advice...very low stress. I have a friend who uses the Sunshine mix and instead of repotting, She cuts open the side of a bag of MIX and set's the plant, roots and all into the opening. BBaammm replanted...no stress...best of all, using a fresh bag of the sunshine mix allows her to pretty much just water, and monitor for deficiencies...hope this helps.lw
Hello AcousticStoner :) They look fine for 2 weeks, I can't see any problems at all ;)

Whats up everyone, heres a little update on the grow...
First Off!!! THANKS BUK, LATEWOOD, MAND, & POWDER PUFF... for the excellent advice, and on the quick-style too. :pimp::thumbsup:
There is a reason why i called out for all your expertise, because it is THE BEST... and i GREATLY APPRECIATE IT... right on!
BUk~ Whats up Buk, Thx for the help... I now plan on getting 3gal potts to transplant in future weeks. I plan for 3 footer ladies with BIG BUDS, i hope :D
With my plan to use the CFL's thru to harvest i will try to keep them on the shorter side, also because that accomodates my growing area, ect... Little low on room to grow in my place... :( I glad to have that plan figured out for the future. I also will be topping my two in the back when that time comes, and the transplant thread was a crucial help...Right on thx BUk! :rasta:
LATEWOOd~ Thanks for the tranplanting help! :D My medium is Scotts Planting Soil plus Osmocote (continuous feeding soil) Is that good in comparison to Sunshine Mix??? Lemme know man, thx... :smokin:
MANd~ The Famous Mand, how finally nice to meet you! Thanks for your compliment on my plants... :D Sorry about your sense of smell... bummer :( I know my plants smell will come soon, im a little impatient at times is all... :) You have beautiful plants, and im excited to see the near future for you... very impressive! Thx for your input, i hope for your help in the future.
POWDERpuff~ Thx for help, im just craving the smell of my own home grown... Hopefully soon. You have a beautiful 2nd attempt kickin ass... that is going to be CRUCIAL! You've got a green thumb Puff... Thx again... Stay UP :rasta:
UPDATE!!!
> My ladies continue to flourish their 7 fingers are starting to fan out and the little 3rd one has its 5 finger leaves out... Its funny how my little 3rd one has only one less tier than the other two has the same finger leaves growing and is about 1/4 the size... A little runt perhaps... Who knows, could turn out awesome.
Will have PICS tomm. :)

Hello AS :) Hmmmm "wonderfully supportive", well if I see a grow looking good I do like to say so ;)
The fact is I do like to see grow journals and inparticularly sucsessfull ones and by the looks of it you're on course for one of those ;)
To be honest in the short time on these boards I have seen quite a few grows and most have been very sucsessfull. Many of those have been from first time growers who have produced crops that a lot of experienced growers would be proud off :)
By the way AS, Happy Birthday love :) .................... I won't ask how old because I bet the answer will just make me feel even more ancient :o

My ladies are 3 Weeks old today... And they are all thriving, strong, healthy plants... :D I will have a PIC UPDATE tomorrow... :)
They seemed to have slowed down a little in growing the past couple days... is this normal??? I also noticed the very tips of my Plant #1 are bent downward... But honestly i dont think it is because of overwatering, i know i did days ago, but they recovered fully from that and now are bent down... does anyone know what thats about???
Anyway... i will take a few PICS tomorrow and press on...

Ok, DAY 24 of "Veg" and i am now gettin my first of problems for these ladies of mine... If anyone can help me out with some advice, check out the PICS and lemme know what you think... Im hoping the bending in the leaves at the tips is normal... It cant be from overwatering because i am exceptionally careful in doing so. Its kinda frustrating... they just seem to have stopped growing!!! I dont know whats up with them...
Anyways, i decided to feed them and see if that works... I have used no nutes or ferts at this point so maybe they need that little boost... I used a 15-30-15 on them this morning and im already starting to see a little improvement... As i press on i get more and more anxious, but i think i am going to start flowering them next week. :D
Pressing on...

dont really know bout the curling.
I mean for Veg they need a higher N than P&K so try to stick to the rules I mean its ur 1st grow. If you still plan on using those nutes dont use to much, untill flowering comes. With nutes you should always start off really light then gradually up the dosage to what the instructions say. You'll do fine dont worry so much

Whats up Everyone, OK so i've decided i think that i am going to put my ladies into flower at the start of their 6th VEG week... Im excited to see what the change does and also to see the sex of my plants... Judging from the info i have gathered from these forums, along with some extra, i believe of my three plants two of them have shown female now!!! I sure do like that ratio!:D :D
Hey Mand, Thx for the compliment on my New Grow Box, it is EXCELLENT for small indoor grows, but it wouldnt be to useful for a seasoned british smoker like yourself. :) Plus if i had neighbors like yours Mand, i would be grow on a much LARGER scale myself... seeing as i know i would need it. :rasta: By the way, the setup that u put a new thread up for, that was INSANE, hydrolic doors and such...
Grim, What up man...??? Ok well lets see here.. my biggest is 16" or so, and the third little guys is hangin in there around 8-9". Im thinkin that it would be a good idea to start my flowering cycle next week. Im also debating on whether i should transplant to bigger pots and add some bloodmeal to kick off the flowering phase with a bang, but it may just set them back more than help me out... i dont know yet, and obviously im not 100% on my decision, what are u plannin on doin??? Because i have 16" less to work with than u do. I have about 42" in height to work with... Lemme know man, later on...
The plants are kicking a$$ these past couple days, it was a smart decision to give them a little more room and a much nicer one at that! :) Im thinkin that bloodmeal is the nutrient to use for the start of my flower phase... Any ideas on this matter?
Pressin on...

Whats up Everyone, So... Im setting up for flowering and i plan on inducing @ the beginning of next week... I am also going to transplant within the next couple days in order to prepare them for flower, and im thinking that i should give them a good day to settle into their new pots.
ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON A SOIL??? SHOULD I GRAB SOME PERLITE TOO???
BUk, Mand, Grim --- What do guys use???
GIn- Whats up man, thanks for the compliment on my grow. This being my first im never really sure of whats next, but im hoping for the best. :D
BUk - Thanks for the advice man, I have two seperate containers of the same nutrients just a difference in dosage... Each container lasts about a week im seein so far, so a extra 1/4 tsp every week or so... thats pretty safe and im seeing no nute burn and nice lush leaves so im gonna stick with it, you plan is a safe one... thanks for the help
Grim - Haha, man ur crazy... Thanks for the compliments on my grow man... Ill be checkin on whats up with u too. Umm lets see im using a 15-30-15 nutrients in a LOW LOW DOSE right now, but the results are nice i think... im transplanting to new pots im thinkin like 3gal or so because these 13" are getting small... what do u think? big enough? or should i keep it smaller?

I would definitely trasplant probably before flowering and maybe a few days so they can get over the stress before you switch them to flowering.
As far as the nutes - I was doing some research and talking to some other members and I found out that switching nute numbers can cause additional unwanted stress so I plan on using the same formula when I jump right into flowering. I'm using 14" pots and I'll probably transplant when they get up to the 2 foot range :D
My plants got a little rootbound in their 8" pots and it's definitely not something you want to deal with lol. I was amazed because they didn't look big enough to be rootbound, but when I pulled them out I could definitely see a MASS of roots collecting at the bottom and trailing all the way up every side of the soil basically making the pot one big rootball. They're still recovering a bit and should be good as new by Monday at the latest.
Get 5 gallons if you have the space for it, you won't regret it and your plants won't thank you enough. :D
the 15-30-15 is ok, the 30 is kinda high but as long as you're giving them low doses like you said, you'll be fine. Remember, they use up Nitrogen first and foremost.
How often are you watering/how much do you water? (out of curiousity)
AcousticStoner420
03-10-2006, 02:54 AM
Whats up Grim, Im still pretty sure on gettin the 3gal, im thinkin that it will be enough, because i only have 3ft. in height to work with... But if ur strong in the 5 gallons i do i have the room for it, but only the 40" in height. Lemme know on that... I water a good amount about every other day, and about half that inbetween days... they really need it. Thats also why im thinkin the transplant will be a smart move...
What do u think about the perlite, and what soil do u recommend man???
Thx for all the input and help :D

Acoustic - <3
I did the math and apparantly what I'm using is a little over 3 gallons. If you're not having too many problems with the roots yet I think you should be fine with a 3 gallon, but if you can make room for a 5 I think you should do it.
Expect double the growth when you switch it into flower, you have more room than that I'd say go for it!
As far as soil goes, I actually buy anything WITHOUT bark (the first soil I ever bought had chunks of wood and bark in it, as small as they were they still caused problems with the roots not being able to go through) and without any added fertilizer as well as a few bags of pearlite.
I'll take both of them home, take a seperate pot I use for mixing (just a standard planting pot. bigger the better.) and I'll pour about 30-40% pearlite in and the rest soil and then start mixing like crazy with a scoop and a few garden tools.
I like it this way because I know exactly how much of what is in there. :D
Your plants look great so I don't think there's any problem with the way you're watering, I was just curious. As Karma told me, just make sure to let the soil towards the bottom dry so not only the roots get oxygen, but so the PH towards the very bottom of the pot doesn't go off the charts.
My grow is going pretty nicely :D
I stunted 2 in the very beginning and knew why (not enough lighting) but I decided to let them live for the hell of it.. they're actually thriving now! It's funny because they have the same maturity as my foot tall plants but they're about half the size :stoned:
Not much yield on them I'm sure, but I'm keeping them around just to see what happens.
We're going to be smoking joints of our own ventures very soon, bro. Very soon.
In fact, let me know before you put one into flowering!
I'll put one of mine into flowering at the same time so I can keep tabs and compare
I'll post some more pics later tonight

Alright Grim, im going to go ahead and do 4gal buckets and compromise :D Also im DEFINATELY going to get the perlite and some shultz premium potting soil.
Man, we are so close... and some say the best high comes only from your very own homegrown. I cant wait for the first smoke... Its gonna be crucial!
Ok we are definately doing the comparison test with our plants going into flower... I will let u know of my exact date later on and we can start that going too. I just gotta get that transplant out of the way, and make sure the roots are set and we will be ready to go... i figure 36 hours for root recovery... i transplant with super stressless skill so this should be cake...:pimp:
Glad to hear the grow is going well... you have to post some pics for me, so i can check it out... dont embarrass me. haha. :)
Anyway... im gonna go hit this zong i got here...

Ok, I actually stayed up the entire night for fear of me not waking up in time to take my girl out of the dark.
Is that dedication or what?
Acoustic- I'm already excited She shot up 2 inches in 12 hours! This is going to be fantastic if she's female. :D *crosses fingers*
It's 7am and I haven't slept! Time to crash

Damn Grim are u serious!?!?!? Ok heres the deal, go to home depot and get the digital light timer for 3$. After that you wont have to worry about getting up and moving, or perhaps an alarm? Haha Grim man, thats some serious dedication... but i got to be honest man... i woke up to switch my lights for the first 4 weeks! Haha, our dedication will pay off my friend... I am only an hour away from lights switching back on... I will let you know my first night results later on...
Although theres one thing that keeps popping up in my mind are light leaks, i have a couple, but im sure whether they will affect anything, i have done everything i possibly can, so i guess that will have to do...
Pressin on...

How big are the light leaks? I was worried about it too.
So worried in fact, I was able to kind of put the plant in between all of these huge plastic storage bins, and drape a towel where the main light leak would be.
I was wondering though, the blinds in there don't completely keep the night out, as at 6am it was getting sort of light outside lol.
I'll probably have to go cover that bitch! :/
Tell me how progress is going!

Switching my Ladies to 12-12 has shown a significant difference, i got 1in and half on my biggest and a inch on the second. :)
Grim--The light leaks are not all that big... But i am planning on throwing some cocking on there to seal the main-frame, and velcro for the door. Man thats awesome results for you man! :) Mine are doing well also... im going to take some pics either tonight or tomorrow... And definately cover that bitch up, we dont want our ladies going hermie on us...
Pressing on...
Stay UP :rasta:
