smelly problem

ive just got a quick question as i ave never heard of this before....my question is this.........why does my rock wool smell funny

ive germinated my seeds in it and they ave just come through and the cubes ave just started to smell funny........does any 1 no why this is so or heard of this before..........

its sort of like a moldy damp smell it hard to explain really. the rockwool is new cos i only started last week.......................
