How much/what to look for?

Hi all,

How much is the going rate for cannabis, say 3g?

Also, as someone new to this wonderful world, what should you look out for when buying or have you any tips?

Well, cannabis is usually weighed out using the measuring system.

3.5grams is called an eighth. That means the 1/8, is 1/8ths of a full ounce of cannabis (ounce=28grams)

3.5g's varies in costs though. Some people can get shitty pot for $5 for 3.5g's, then there is quality cannabis that can be about $35-$40 for an 1/8.

Then, 3.5g's x 2=7g's. 7g's is called a quarter (1/4) which means a 1/4 of an ounce, or 25% of an ounce.

Then there is the next step, 7g's x 2=14g's, which a half ounce (14g's:1/2)

Then a full ounce (14g's x 2=28g's)

Costs however, vary from state to state, country to country, even cities apart there is big diff's, but here's a good idea of quality cannabis, not cheap, low quality junk, here in AB, Canada:

1/8=$35
1/4=$60
1/2=$100
Full ounce=$200
QP=$700
Full P=$1500

Now, there are dealers out there who sell by the gram, which usually costs anywhere from $10-$15, but there more cannabis you buy at once, the more money you save.

Now, as for looking for quality, avoid brown pot, with lots of seeds, and stems. That is what we call "shwag"=shitty fucking pot :)

For a good smoke, look for green, red hairs, a lot or not, and if you look really close, you can see a somewhat sugar coating on the buds :thumbsup: That's, what you want. That should be a nice smoke if trichs (the sugar) are visable.

Smell, good cannabis should have a nice smell. It can smell like a fresh fruit bowl, skunk, pine, earthy ground smell, lemon, on and on. If you smell a nice floral smell, good.

If it smells like a rotton punani, don't buy.

Well you see, that's just silly in my opinion. Having to pay that much when those seeds are available at pretty much every seed bank, I've never understood it. No matter how much a seed cost, charging that much for 14g's of pot? You know how much it costs a grower to produce that much? Sure is hell ain't $300.

I was in L.A once, but I was younger and din't smoke weed.

I know MJ is really expensive in major cities in the U.S of A. NYC has ounces going $700 (according to HT mag). I even read last month, that an ounce of bubble hash, was going for $1700 in NYC :eek: Now that's a hrd broomstick shoved in your ass there! Damn!

I forgot that seeds are a harder thing to get from companies in the US. Bummer man!

I get pretty good cheebs for a good price, at least I think I do, for $200 an ounce. 2-3 bong rips and I'm good to go, then again, getting seeds in Canada is as easy as buying a pack of gum, so.

I went and found a few pictures for you on Google of what is good, and isn't. These are not my pictures, as all of mine were seized from overgrow.com (:mad:)

First picture is of some mid-quality buds. An okay smoke for the price.

Second is what I consider shwag. Loose, airy buds. Notice the lack of bud, it looks like a few loose leafs holding onto a stem. Avoid!

Third picture is what quality cannabis should look like. Notice the "sugar" (trichs) on the buds. Always good

These are pictures I consider high-mid-and low. Lows do get worse looking than that just so you know. :)

I get mids all the time. It will get you blazed after a joint or 2. Have had chronic before that look like the 3rd picture. If you can get it go for it everytime.
