Hey, I was at Target and noticed a carbon air filter by Hamilton Beach for $20. Has anyone tried these? Are they worth bothering with? There's three versions, one multi purpose, one for tobacco smoke, and one for pet odors. They all specifically state that they use activated carbon filters.

I bought one but haven't used it yet because my plants aren't smelly yet. I'd presume that it should be relatively effective in a very confined space. I wonder which type of filter is the best for marijuana smell though? They should just make a marijuana filter.

I'd guess that the tobacco one would be closest, or maybe the all-purpose. I was looking on the HB website and found that they also make extra strength filters:

This could be a great way for small growers to take care of odors inexpensively. Crispyfried, could you post on this thread how well it works once you get a chance to try it out?

Yeah I'll test it out, but my seedling is only about a week old so it'll be awhile.

I also got some volcanic rock odor eliminators, they're cheap but alas I haven't had a chance to try them out either. I got them at Home Depot, see the product site here:

I'll have to check those out. What section are those in at Home Depot? I'm in the same boat as you, mine are only a week old too.

Probably depends on your local home depot, but it was near a bunch of odor control stuff, like the scented stuff and whatnot.

For anyone who's interested, those carbon filters DO work great in a small bedroom. It should clear the scent of three plants in no time, and if you look around, some Targets sell them for only $15. Get the all purpose one, as it's the cheaper one and works fine.
