Yeah and like they just showed that should have been a TD for Seattle. That was not a push off at all. This kind of stuff really pisses me off. I have no problem with pitts winning but when you do it by two bad calls that is really BS! The score should be 10 - 3 Seattle right now!!!

I agree. And yet one more. Seattle got called for holding and there wasnā??t any!! This game is a joke! Pitts better win by at least 14 if they do win other wise this game was a failure and not a fair contest. I hope Pitts enjoys their very hollow victory!! How can they lose with these kinds of calls!?!

Worst Super Bowl ever!

My god! Seattle should have had the ball on the 4 yard line, 1st and goal, but a BS holding call and a BS personal foul call and Pitts gets a TD.

Man the sports analysts are going to have a field day with this game. Pitts is being given the game by the officials!!

Now Pitts needs to win by 21 for it to be a real win.

I will say it again, WORST SUPER BOWL EVER!

Just because this was not a running game for Seattle tonight does not mean anything. If you look at all the plays Seattle out played Pitts. It just every big play they made was over turned by false, unfair calls. Even you have to acknowledge this was anything but a clean football game and that the Steelers got ALL the calls.

This was a joke and not a fair contest. Like I said itā??s an insult to the integrity of the sport.

it was played in detroit at ''ford'' stadium there trying to bolster the auto industry, now that it is nearly bankrupt, do you really think professional football players play for 10 years without getting seriously injured? even in high school there is usually 1 guy carried off the field in every game, these guys are coached.

Come on man. They didnā??t "just loose"! That is the whole point. If the calls would have been correct most likely Seattle would have won this game even without Shawn Alexander being effective tonight. Even you admitted that Ben did not get in for a TD in the fist half and you know that push off call and the holding call were BS too.

ok ok whatever... but not sit here and say we didnt deserve it and didnt earn it, thats just nonsense... seattle had there chances.. they missed 2 field goals, and gave up 2 huge plays... the gadget play with el and willie for 80 both resulting in touchdowns... you can't take it away from the Steelers just because of they officals they had nothing to do with that

football coaches have the authority to challenge a call, and no calls were challenged, also in football referee's routinely watch the playback video monitor to make sure they were correct. I view this game as a warning, that something is very very wrong.

first of all the touchdown run by ben was challenged... not by a coach though becuase of the 2 minutes rule which states that there can be no challenges within 2 min of the half or end of game by a coach... it has to come from upstairs... they did and confirmed it, and no refferees are forbidden from viewing moinitors of repalys... you don't know much about football and didn't pay attention to the game.

Both "huge" plays and both field goals they missed were directly after they were the victim of a bad call. In other words they would have not been in those situations in the first place had the calls been correct. And how can you bash a team for missing a 59 yarder?!?! That they only had to try because of a bad call?!?!? Its amazing how short sided a fan of one team can be just because the want them to win so badly. Very interesting actually.

Iā??m not a Seattle fan. And like I keep saying I would be going off about the calls if they had gone for Seattle too. This game was a joke and this was the worst super bowl ever!

ok first off the 80yd run was the first play of the second half, and it wouldnt have mattered where we started from, he would ahve went to the house, and second trying to kick a 59yd field goal is dumb as hell, i know football and anybody else that does will agree, in that situation you punt and give the steelers bad field position,, but they tried and missed and that gave us amazing field position... you just dont know that much about football

The score should have been 10-3 Seattle when that 80yard run happened so that would have just tied the game. And a 59 year field goal is not that crazy, especially in a dome. The chiefs kicker, Lawrence Tynes, made back to back 60 and 62 yarders outside this year!!!

So I donā??t think you know as much about football as you think!!!

Again you seem to only be looking at things for a very Steelers perspective! The only mistakes Seattle made was managing the clock at the end of both halves, which again would not have been an issue had then not been the victims of bad calls.

i'm done arguing with you if you are dumb enough to think trying a 59yd feild goal is a good idea when down by less than 3 scores... thats a just a bad play call... you should def punt... if you can't see that you know nothing about football and how the game is played... field position is key in a low scoring game

You are very selective about your arguments. I point out that Ben didnā??t get in and that the push off call and holding calla were BS and Seattle should have had a TD on both of those drives. Rather than addressing those you come back with a lame argument about field goals. When you know Seattle would have been ahead. You also didnā??t argue that the 80 yard return should have just tied the game. If you know so much about football then you know the momentum of the game is everything and Seattle had the advantage of that over and over and over and it was taken away every time, not by Pitts making a good play but by a bad call made by the officials!!!!

That is the main pinot why this game was BS and the Steelers do no deserve to win. The momentum of this game was controlled by the officials and not by the Steelers making good plays!

your right the stones dont suck but there performane tonight did! as for the call there were some of the closest, hardest calls to make not even the replay made it easier but the guy with the best seat in the house the ref saw the run buy ben and he said it was in and so do i all it has to do is break the goal line and at the peak of the lunge it did. as for the pass interferance once the ball is in the air you cant touch each other. the offensive play initiate the contact with out making a play on the ball, its a close but justified call. as for the game being rehearsed, did you not see antwaan randel el take that vicious hit on the put return, rehearsed my ass. i think it was a good defensive game played buy to good teams, yeah there were to many penilties but thats the playes fault for commiting them. im sure that the PITSBERGH STEELERS dont think the game was givin to the! i heard the seahawks playes talk after the game and they didnt say that its was taking from them. Never really paid attention to American Football, but been watching recently and it aint that bad, a bit hard to understand!, what that '1st down' and all that about?

STDzRus
02-06-2006, 09:24 PM
Every 1st down, you must then run 10 yards. For each time the ball is called out of play, you mark how many yards are gained or lost, and it moves to the next down.

So as follows.

1st and 10 <--You always start on 1st down with 10 yards. Say the ball is run for 3 yards.

2nd and 7 <--you are now on your second down with 7 yards to the next first down.

If you get to a 4th Down you have one more chance to meet your goal of X yards. You can punt it, try for a field goal, or try to run it as a regular play.

If you punt it, the ball will go further, if you make a field goal, you recieve three points.

BUT if you try for a 1st down, you you must make the first down of X yards or the ball will be turned over to the opposing team.

I love american football for 2 reason... every play starts with 11 guys lined on both side of the ball and in less than a second it transforms from peace to war... and this happens over and over... its beautiful and it's the only team sport that has such a wide variety of players... size...speed...agility... other sports have some but what other sport has a guy that can run a 4.28 40yd a guy who can throw a 60yd spiral, and a guy who can bench press 500lbs all on the field at the same time playing the same game... it's honestly the chess of sports with different players (pieces) that can all make different plays (moves) to help there side win the game (checkmate)

all i have to say is the refs were bought off, the steelers' first touchdown was illegitmate, and seattle did not get a pass interferance on themselves, and earned that touchdown.

the game was rigged, and all you who payed your bets to steelers fans were robbed.

Well if you knew the rules of football any touching after 5 yards is a penalty. PERIOD....he put his hands on the defender...automatic interference.
Did Ben score? Not sure....I didnt see the ball cross the line...but there was a ref right there and made the call....play reviewed and let stand.
Clipping call on Seattles QB was wrong....WRONG. The fact is the STEELERS WON....and I live in the BURGH.....we have been screwed by calls often enough....so a few went our way....THATS LIFE....Steelers would have WON this game no matter what...Bettis was going out a CHAMPION...nothing less.
Its a game....one team wins...one loses. Dont cry about the refs handing them the game. 1 bad call 1 iffy call and 1 call to the letter of the rule.
While I agree that I think the game should be a little more physical....like it was 10 years ago.....THE RULES CHANGED....cant complain about it now.

You know what's sad and makes Seattle look like shit... Mike Holmgren didn't even find Cowher to shake his hand, that's just out right disrespect... what a sore loser

Well I must say I don't remember all that much of the bowl but from what I do remember the right calls where made, I'm far from a Steelers fan but from what I saw they throughly deserved the win.

The Rothelisberger run it looked to me as if the nose of the ball did break the plane, it was close but was in. As for th pass interference call he did push off, however big of a push is irrelevent. I've similar instances in other games go the other way but so far as the rules go the correct calls where made.
