Cannabisworld.com and Overgrow.com Seized By Police
by Marc Emery (03 Feb, 2006) Overgrow.com, Cannabisworld.com, Heaven's Stairway Seed Company, and Eurohemp.com Shut Down and Servers Seized by Canadian Police

When the world's largest websites for cannabis growers and enthusiasts disappeared from the web on Monday, January 30, it was thought to be a server problem.

As the week dragged on, tens of thousands of members, seed company sponsors, growers and fans worried there might be more than mere 'server' problems as Richard Calrisian (a pseudonym) had not made any statements in any web based media about any 'technical' problems.

Now it appears Heaven's Stairway Seeds (hempqc.com), Cannabisworld.com, Overgrow.com, Eurohemp.com have been shut down and the owners arrested in Canada; all their web properties seized, including the physical servers that held massive databases on thousands of growers, and tens of thousands of photographs of cannabis plants. Seed companies by the dozens used both Overgrow.com and Cannabisworld.com as a main trading ground. Over 40 seed companies had customer service interactive forums on these sites.

All the information held on those servers is now in the hands of police. It is not known what charges have been laid nor against whom. That police have not boasted about this seizure means the investigation is continuing, before any affected parties can react.

Cannabis Culture began receiving emails on Wednesday saying Richard Calrisian and his wife had been arrested along with four employees, but this could not be corroborated.

On the website www.icmag.com, seed merchant Gypsy Nirvana, operating from England where cannabis seeds are legal, posted this news late Friday:

??It is with great sadness that I bring you the news that RC and HS, OG and CW have been taken down by the authorities in Canada.....

...I have it from a bonofide source that it happened on monday and RC's computers/servers have most probably been siezed, they spent 2 days going thru his house and removed alot of stuff ...

His wife and some members of his family were also taken into custody and it's possible that she may be released tommorrow on bail... There has not been a peep in the media about this so there could be a reason why it was not advertised by LEO......BE WARNED! not to try and log on to Overgrow or Cannaworld for now since most certainly the security of that site has been compromised and if it comes back up without me first hearing from RC then it is NOT being run by him.....think about it!

...This could bring up some real security issues with many Overgrow/Cannabisworld members.........be warned guys and do what you need to do to make it safer for all of you.......duck and cover if needs be....

....Yours Faithfully...

Gypsy Nirvana?

As soon as we find out more information about what??s happened, we will provide updates here or in the Cannabis Culture forums [see link added below]. Overgrow.com website members are welcome to converge here to find out more and reconnect.

For people who only visited, who at most casually posted, there is very little risk of anything "bad" happening.

However, people who were personally actively involved (talking via PM, email, etc) with others there should consider taking the necessary precautions to forestall any possible future problems; to protect their privacy.

All the more exposure the better!

Not meaning to step on toes but this could get real fucked up for some of us.....hopefully not!!!

Once again, any idea from anybody on how long Heavens Stairway kept records???

I don't have a clue but I do know I have read where alot of sites are going to be investigated now because of the ongoing case on a website called myspace.com. I don't want to post the whole thing but in a nutshell..a bunch (14) of underage girls met men off that site and it got so extensive across the country that it is now being investigated by the FBI. Just saying where there are kids there WILL be trouble eventually for whatever reason LEO can use. Just my opinion.

Actually the Myspace incidents all happened in the North, it wasnt widespread across the country.

I can't see this as being true. How would they be able to keep the press off of this? We're talking some of the largest weed growing furums in the world and a one of the largest and most networked seed distributers going. If I ripped down my room for nothing then I'm going to be REAL PISSED!

If you do a lil research youll see articles about it, apparantly they are in trouble for using the Mail system to ship their Product. Knowingly shipping items that are illegal in certain countries is illegal even in a country where it isnt illegal. Gota love those Canada/US Treaties.

It's been speculated that it is about shipping seeds and other things unrelated to the free exchange of information and ideas. Although, I too find something odd about this whole thing. I'm waiting for it to appear in the media.

I was referring to one artice I read that stated "one man actually drove over a thousand miles to meet a "14" year old girl" so I would say that makes it widespread..just happens CT got on this first. It would be nice though to have the belief that all perverts are in the North though..seeing as I am a Southerner.

First off the MYSPACE deal is a investigation brought on my NBC and FBI. Don'y you watch TV. Last friday they had a 2hour special on it. They got pedifiles(sp?) to come to this house in CALIFORNIA and busted them and put it on tv. It is the 3rd time for the show, to do this. Men wanting to meet young boys and girls. So I don't think this has anything to do with overgrow. The real puzzler is the no media announcement. That can only be bad, real bad! I feel and expect this is going to be the downfall of any kind of legalization for Canada. Hope Iam wrong!

well i think it is a weird coincidence that all of a sudden harper is elected and pot related web site are banned...but again an investigation takes more than a month before arresting people...happened to quicly...

i am pretty sure they will use this ban against marc emery, because now his arrest cannot be compared as a political arrest...

Oh well, have to get used to a new forum. This truly sucks!

As my revenge on my own government I went ahead and donated money to NORML and SAFER. They are taking the decision out of the polititions hands and putting it to direct vote of the people where we can actually get shit done. Fuck Bush and fuck John Walters lying ass.

if i wasnt so sick over this whole overgrow thing i would go personally beat the living shit out of all the damned canadian wankers that would shut overgrow down.

i have been living off that site for a few months seeing as im working on my first grow.

and i have to agree with whoever said that the investigation would take a while.

i think that the people running it were at risk of investigation and figured it better to stop drop and run than to try to keep the site up.

if the info of their databases was found in warranted searches it could possibly be used in court against them and to later seek out growers.

The sites administrators may have thought it better to just shut down and try to bring it back later.

on another thread, I read where RC is "cooperating with authorities"...

that ( IF TRUE ) makes this situation worse, much worse as the IP logs are fully legal to use against growers, sellers...

I wonder if there is a contingency plan for cannabis.com in case this happens?
If it was my server and I was stacked with money I'd move this server to amsterdam :)

Hey, this is Vic High from a few years back. Saw the bad news on TV a few nights ago. What a sad day, cannabis is now even more firmly controlled by the criminals.

Any word on Richard? Hope he has a soft landing.
