It has nothing to do with Above the Influence or drugs, just kids that drop out of school.
It has a girl outside of her friends house with a megaphone telling her to get up because she's not missing another day of school! And she stands there and doesn't stop yelling until she comes out!
Kids, remind all your friends, don't drop out of school! If you really hate school that bad, or can't stand it and want to get out...just do what I did and graduate early! Don't leave yourself less options in the future.
thats debatable, the whole idea of school could be considered feeding kids bullshit, cos it does.

I haven't seen that one. I think the only anit-pot advertisment I've seen that didn't piss me off is the one witht he 30 year old guy living in his mom and dads basement watching tv all day. The little brothers like "he doesn't do much of anything".....it's sad because I actually know several people like that.

Um...so...it doesn't matter what they feed you, it's that paper document you get at the end that helps you go on to REAL SCHOOL with teachers with real educations a.k.a. colleges and universities.

nope I haven't seen that one, but I went to school with a guy who dropped out 6 weeks before graduation. I tried to talk him out of it, but he quit school to start installing dish systems. It was all because of some girl.

yeah that is true, but in the world we live in you need that diploma, to get a good job or further you're education ie. college, trade school, university to get an even better job. It really is a must " since the year 1900 children in the US have been taught to read using the " Look-Say" technique... this technique was developed for deaf mutes as a way to learn language, but was then changed into the way we all learn how to read. There is no logical reason for this because we can all hear (excluding the deaf and the deaf mutes it was intended for) the only explanation is that the government is intentionally dumbing us down. look it up the shit is nuts or read the book " introduction to the skull and bones"... it will change you're life if you live in the US or UK:rasta:

i believe that cannabis is great, but it shouldnt get in the way of school. i rarely skip class, except for study halls and gym, and i think that if i end up graduating and getting to college i wil lbe able to smoke as much as i want at college and afterwards be able to buy a few lbs of weed when i get a good job
i saw one the other day, the first one i've personally seen on canadian television. IT MADE ME SO MAD. it wuz 2 girls sitting on couches across from eachother, and ones deflated and not talking, then the non-smoker is like " every since (i forgot her name) started smoking pot, we've been like this, we dont do anything anymore".
it was such a buzz kill.

I've seen that commercial but it doesn't make me want to do any backflips. The plot is just bad although the message is honorable. Kids should stay in school. But, schools should be giving kids a reason to. Aside from the petty cliques, gossip, socializing, sex, and drugs that you learn about in high school there really isn't that much there. It's time the public school sector started hiring teachers with talent and not just those looking for summer vacations and tenure.

my thoughts exactly, but then the responsibility of getting a child to school rests upon many peoples shoulders. it's obvious that the main influence should be the school itself, but there are times when a students decision to drop-out is determined by their life in the house. you can't blame the parents though. personally, i think any television that tells you how you should live your life is bullshit in itself.

i wish i would of stayed in school instead of dropping out in the beginning of the 11th grade. i wanted to hurry up and work and make my money, grant it i got my GED that year so i graduated when i was 17 pretty much but still i missed so much in school. my friends, prom, getting to college, etc. if i could turn back time i would of stayed in school and it just sux! cause i was on the verge of my prime and maaaaaan i could of been a somebody by now if i would of just listened to my friends and family.

Please do as i am also very interested. btw is it all american schools or just public schools? I ask bcuz i got to private catholic school and it kinda sucks, but i know im getting a good education so i try to learn and study but my friend absolutely hates it. He hates it so much. He thinks he can leave and still learn the same stuff. The only reason he wants to go to public school is cuz of the drugs and stuff, even though we get plenty of weed here.

it's never too late to get your priorities straight? i also dropped out of highschool, beginning of my junior year...just like you. try not to be so hard on yourself. you got to keep your shoulders up. given that we've already set the odds against us by dropping out doesn't mean that we're not destined for greater things.

Wrong grashopper....the main inflluence is the parents and the example they set for their kids. the school is not nearly as important and is merely a means to an end...ie a HS diploma. In America especially, you are more than hosed without one. Although it (school/teachers) helps a lot, it's still the parents who set the tone for the kids level of achievement from day one. But parents who make a big deal about what kids wear or what music they listen to or games they play are fighting a losing battle and one of the most important things about being a parent is to choose your battles carefully. That being said, you can still make a good life without the diploma but it's an uphill battle to say the least. Getting even the most meager job is tough without that diploma, right or wrong, it's the way things work.

I think we can all agree that no matter the value of the school, the value of the HS Diploma has a very great role in the modern day society.

STDzRus your point actually made it clear how sad advertisment is. It does seem like commericials feed teens bullshit about drugs and other stuff. It's about time something actually positive comes out like this.

I think school is bullshit and i know im not going to need to know most of the shit we are taught. But I do try and get OK grades. I also do not skip classes or smoke before school. I only smoke before school if it is an easy day like before a long break.
