in 1 of my pictures you will notice a big green thing thats a parathin heater that lets off lovely cabondioxide that the plants love.
i am leaveing them under the 2 strip lights for 4 weeks.
then im putting in a 600w hydrophonice lamp. (any think i should put 2 600 watts in?) any advice of any1 is very mutch welcome :)
peace out 1 love....

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what exactly is a parathin heater? Are they a good method for producing co2?

a parathin heater runs on fuel (parathin)
witch releases carbondioxide.
and whot do plans do? turn carbondioxide in to fresh air.
wouldnt say there the safest of metheds of heating a grow area but my little plants seem to like it.
good thing is cost effective.im growing in a garden shed and the temps out side been below zero so its alot cheaper than having a eleteric heater blasting all day.

the shed im growing in was completly clapped out i fixed the roof nearly every pannel on the dam thing i then gave is 2 thick layers of pond lino then painstakingly stapeled 5 rolls of cooking tin foil to the wall for reflection.
i am currantly working on a heat proof sheet with a zippa down the middle that you have to undo after opening the door just for that bit of extra warmth

Nice grow room. What i didnt see in it that you should have handy? A fire distinguishrer(sp). Grow big, but grow as safe as possible.

Just in case you didn't know, aluminum foil is bad (creates a laser beam effect). If anything just paint the walls flat white. Also, the light is a little far from the plants. Because of how it is such a low wattage they are stretching like crazy for it. I've seen many grows get completed with floros just not as few as you have. Sorry to ruin things, but you're gonna need to invest a little more if you truely do want to grow. Goodluck buddy and I hope thigns work out for you <3

yeah those plants are super stretched. you should repot and bury stem under the soil. oncw you do that move the flouros about 2inches away from the plants. if they strech much more they will not be able to support themselves and fall over. so whatever you do do it soon!

If you must use aluminum foil use the dull side facing plants. This will reduce risk of burning them quite a bit.

Where can mylar be purchased? I have looked at Lowes, but was unable to find any. Also, where can you get a parathin heater from a common store?

Mylar is best off ordered from internet if you don't have a hydro store near you. I've heard nothing about parathin heaters before this thread.
I completely agree with justaseed with the replanting and burying the stem.
Although, I have to disagree with the using of the dull side of aluminum in your case because it would be way more work to take everything off and put it back on than to take it off and just paint. White paint would give you much better reflectivity than aluminum foil anyway.

i new somthing was wrong with them because they are so tall
should i put them in bigger deeper pots so theres only like an inch of plant showing?

Leave about a half inch to an inch of stem below the lowest set of leaves. Goodluck <3

it'll probably be fine as long as it's not damaged too bad.

what kind of medium is that? you need perlite!! mix 2/3 soil to 1/3 perlite at least. i like to use more than that. mj roots need to breathe. sorry i should have caught this from your 1st pics before you repotted. there isn't much you can do now until you repot. and remember always add perlite! watering might become an issue without perlite. it will take a long time to dry out between waterings and also the medium can become packed to tight so be really careful until you repot again. good luck sorry about the miss!

its papaya, az for the perlite i tottally forgot was in abit of a mad rush had to catch the shop b4 it closed.i just got the babys settled back in place with the lights nice and tight between them and gave them a little water.
starting to feel like a bit of a failier but i no ill learn from my mistakes.i have my eye on HYDROPONICS GROW LIGHT AND VENTING SYSTEM, on ebay.and the guy only lives 10minutes away but he wont sell it till the end of the auction and thats end of xt week :(
400watt lamp blue and red spectrum looks pretty cool hope i win it.
could you reccomend 1? think im gonna scarp these strips reading alot of poor comments about them.
i can spend around £100 ie around$170 on a light and ballest

Just to clarify, do you mean "paraffin"? This look like a pretty neat way to give both heat and CO2; however, it doesn't look like the most complex thing to make... Do you think you could take some closer pictures of exactly how it works or show diagrams to aid me in building one? It just runs off of something like sterno type wax, right? I could start a build thread too and include everything...:D
Do you have any newer shots of the girls?

you can clearly see the wick and and the burners.i will take more tomorow and ill try and find a bottle of the fuel and more imformation on it.really over here in the uk alot of people use them to heat green houses in the winter to prevent frost.any advice about anything is most welcome.thanks for all the advice guysill keep you all posted on the goings on, in my project.

what exactly to you meen by hydroponics light? from what you said about blue spectrum i am assuming metal halide. i would go with hps instead it is much better for flowering. or check out this place for multispectrum systems. they are the best deal around. hemp kat over at og uses them with excellent results

i use 4 ft flouros in my vegg room and love them you just have to have enough and use them right. check out what i can grow under them. you should use the flouros for veg and hps for flower. mh is also good for veg, although much more powerful it is hotter and costs more to run. you don't need to scrap the flouros just get a few more and use the right tubes. my favorite flouro tubes for veg are these. they kick ass as you can tell from my plants.
