Can I use any florescent tubes for veg a specific kind.
Also, is it possible to spot female with a florescent tubes under a 12/12 light cycle So I can clone the females ?
I dont feel like buying a 400 W for 3 weeks of usage only to spot female since I will get 3 1000W HPS for the flowering in 1 to 2 month.
Thank

Sativagrowin, you just saved me alot of $. If you where here I'd kiss you:rasta:
Lots of people (even on this board) told me it could not be done (flowering under a regular fluorescent) so thanks you!

Another question: Does a fluorescent have an expiry date?
I already have enough fluorescent at home but I had them for 5 years now with little to no usage.
Thanks

They will work fine, and I'm sure no one told you that you can't flower under a flourescent. They probably just said that you won't get a good yield under it. Goodluck buddy <3

So do you use a 12/12 on veg for a little bit?

I will use 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower.
Once the females are spoted, I will put them back under 24/24 for 3 weeks before cloning them.
Some people say it's not good to flower a plants and put it back under veg after for clones but I dont see why it would afect the plant at all. The marjuana video I bought says it's OK so I'm going for that.
I dont want to waste my time with cloning to find out sex!
Any advice ?

Flowering then switching back to veg IS fine it just stunts the growth for a little while. MeanGreenEye420: Once you put your plants on 12/12 they will begin to flower so you can't really use it on "veg". Just my 2 pesos.

i believe the reason for not switching back and forth from veg to flower is because it somehow deteriorates the genetics over time. so if you only do it 1 time it shouldn't be a problem. definetely do some research on this if your interested because i don't remember where i read/heard it.

Thanks guys, it seems like everyone have their opinion on this but like you said justaseed I dont think doing it one time could possibly afect the plant.
They are going to be in 12/12 for3 weeks at the most !
Any advice are more than welcome.
Thanks

i always leave my seed plants under 24/0 lighting until they show sex naturally(preflowers)usually 4-6weeks. this also gives them time to mature(alternating nodes) before flowering. that's just me though. i'm in no hurry. if i was i would not grow mj. good luck with whatever method you use. 1 more thing every time i have ever grown a batch of seeds the best plant in the bunch is ALWAYS male. to top that i just grew out a 12 pack of Bogglegum seeds 2 months ago and got all males!! imagine that!!! i don't meen to make you nervous or anything...i'm just venting!

you could do anything with flourescents but even more productive for the new generation of growers are these cfls they kickass and are energy effecient heat effecient and cost pricely search this forum for past grows from such people as bobbong maxblast hardon and many others to see secussfull grows start to finish with cfls i belive bobbong managed average 2.5 ounces per plant with 3 foot plants more then a couple times best of luck.. an welcome to all the new visiters

I have reveged plants twice b4 but never more then that. Not because I would worry about genetic degredation, but just because I've never needed to. I don't believe that the plants DNA can be changed once it is growing. I have heard about genetic fading being noticed in clones from clones from clones...etc, but never from reveging a plant.
I could see them being stressed so much that they turn hermie on you but that is not a change in DNA.
I'm glad you got some good info here and I wish you the best of luck. Keep us all posted.
