Dragonforce are a fantastic band.

We used to listen to them when I worked at the warehouse. Those are some of the craziest guitar solos you'll ever hear. I'd also suggest some Bob Dylan, CCR, Cake, and Tenacious D. Pretty random list there, but all of them are worthwhile.

If you want some good trance - DJ Tiesto
Look at anything on the GTA Vice City Soundtrack for some good 80s classics.
Some I've just added to my iPod:
I Come From A Land Down Under - Men At Work
When the Sun Goes Down - Arctic Monkeys
Black Betty - Ram Jam
Jealous Guy - John Lennon
Rocking All Over the World - Status Quo
You Know It - Republic of Loose

try looking for Pop Will Eat Itself. i found them on an old bevis and butthead show doing their "ich bin ein auschlander" video in the late 80's...heavy stuff with a techno/industrial twist. their "dos dedos mis amigo" album is probably their most well known album and easier to find than others.

pandora.com ... go there, type in a song or band you like, and make sure to use the "i like it" or "i don't like it" and it'll play more and more music you like... i've used it so much that it never plays a song i dont' like anymore... and there's maybe about a 1 to 6 ratio of songs i know to ones i don't know... i'd highly suggest using it to find music you like, then downloading the music...
