Sheehan, who had been invited to attend the speech by Rep. Lynn Woolsey (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., was charged with demonstrating in the Capitol building, a misdemeanor, said Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. Sheehan was taken in handcuffs to police headquarters a few blocks away and her case was processed as Bush spoke.

Schneider said Sheehan had worn a T-shirt with an anti-war slogan to the speech and covered it up until she took her seat. Police warned her that such displays were not allowed, but she did not respond, the spokeswoman said.

think of how safe we are that that terrorist was arrested. how, in america, can we dare protest the president? i'm glad it's a misdemeanor to protest in those buildings. that's what the terrorists hate so much.

it's insane.

it's insane.

I agree, it's insane to think that their going to let some headline grabbin' fruitcake sit in on a State of the Union address wearing a protest shirt.

AWWWW...the poor lil' bitch got arrested again. This should be good for at least a headline article and a video from your friends at Pissplanet.

and all the crap about our 'democracy' being one that supports intervening in the entire worlds' affairs...i guess dubya doesn't know we're a republic founded on exactly the opposite...

and we actually USE weapons of mass destruction...

I have no great love for Cindy but why not let her in? As long as she behaves herself. They let the fucking saudi delegates in for shits sake. (and we all know which asshole, who is still free by the way, is a saudi) Bush and his cronies never talk to the people, only the people that are willing to sign a statement that they agree with him. He preaches to the choir quite well. Ok not well but always. (after all this time you would think he could learn to pronounce nuclear, it's only three fucking syllables) After seeing the address, which was another 45minutes of nothing, all I can say is this, vote for a republicrat or a democan and you can expect more of the same. More taxes (oh, I mean fees), more spending on ridiculous shit, more subsidies (oh, I mean tax credits) for the cronies who contribute, etc etc etc. And I believe that at this time, there are less than 3 members of congress who have their own kids in the military, let's get those Bush bitched on the front line if it's so damned important to be there. Let the two parties continue to run the country and it will die as sure as shit.
I also found it interesting that early in the speech, when he was carping about countries with human rights abuses, he failed to mention China, who is probably the number one offender.

I looked for her when I was watching the 'union. I guess this explains why I never saw a blip of her, huh?

I respected her at the very start of what has only turned out to be a giant charade. It is a real shame that she wasted the opportunity she was HANDED tonight. I think she let down her original cause and by proxy, her son. At the LEAST she would have gotten her face on the screen and snippits from various commentators AROUND THE WORLD.

All for a fucking t-shirt.

keeping in mind that they only started preventing protesters and those with different opinions AFTER GW's approval slipped and criticism was rising about the war.

I dont think he'd even make it until '06 if the MSM was allowed to do some actual reporting.

Thumbs up to WOlf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs:thumbsup:

I don't believe for a minute that cindy didnt expect a little controversy. it was probably all timed out, just like bush's speech at that college where a woman stood up and said he was doing the best thing for the country.

oh how gallant and humble of him to sheepishly give an "aw shucks, twerent nuthin ma'am"

anyway i digress.

I still think regardless, people who passively and QUIETLY protest by wearing shirts shouldnt be arrested or banned.

free country am i right?
