With all the problems the Bush administration is having in Iraq, with surging oil prices, and with the media hammering the president 24/7 on just about everything, you would think liberalism would be getting some traction in North America. But apparently it's not.
Polls show that Americans support conservative Judge Samuel Alito for the Supreme Court by a wide margin, Canada just elected a conservative Prime Minister after 13 years of liberal rule, and the President's terror warrior poll numbers dwarf those of any Democrat, despite all the controversies over eavesdropping and interrogation.

So what's going on?

The answer to that question can best be summed up by a new Gallup poll which says that 51% of Americans will not vote for Senator Hillary Clinton under any circumstances, should she secure the Democratic nomination for President.

So, apparently, it doesn't matter what Mr. Bush is doing, most Americans don't want the most well-known liberal Democrat in the country sitting in the White House.

That's a tough situation for the left. All the Bush-bashing in the world does not seem to be making liberal candidates more attractive. And the bashing might just be the problem.

For example, the four Bush-hating columnists at The New York Times, Maureen Dowd, Paul Krugman, Bob Herbert and Frank Rich, have written an astounding 148 anti-Bush op-ed pieces in the past 13 months. That represents 47% of their total work output. I mean, how much loathing do you need? Why doesn't the Times just put a "We Hate Bush!" banner on its op-ed page, and have everybody take a long lunch?

This kind of over-reaction to a sitting President actually creates some sympathy for him among fair-minded Americans. After a while, the cacophony of hatred from the left is just numbing.

And it's also mean. American women, particularly, do not respond well to nastiness. Do you think Ted Kennedy's attacks on Samuel Alito and the subsequent tears from this wife helped the Democrats? Do you?

To be fair, Republicans made the same mistake with all the Clinton bashing. After a while, it just became boring.

But that was then, and this is now. We are living in a much more dangerous time. All the polls show that Americans remain uneasy about terrorism and their own personal security. And in this area, the Democrats poll far below the Republicans.

That's because the Dems do not put forth concrete solutions to vexing problems. What's the liberal solution to the chaotic illegal immigration situation and the porous southern border? How would the left handle Iran if it continues to develop nukes? And on Iraq, the Democratic message is mixed. Hillary wants to win it; Howard Dean says we can't achieve victory. When it comes to cohesion, the Democrat Party rivals the Balkans.

Finally, the left-wing media unknowingly hurts the Democrats, the very party it wants to promote. By making celebrities of loons like Cindy Sheehan and Harry Belafonte, the press spotlights the radicalism on display on the fringes of the Democrat party.

Republicans and conservatives hoot down Ms. Sheehan and Mr. Belafonte all day long, but liberals are largely silent. Believe me, that silence does not go unnoticed by independent-minded Americans.

And the Democrats have little chance to regain power in America without a substantial number of independents shifting to their cause. But right now, that is not happening, and I see no liberal strategy on the horizon to change the situation.

At this point, the champions of the blue states are, indeed, singing the blues.

Yeah I was just thinking earlier how his site looked like a news agency in and of itself. I'm well aware of who he is. Consider that mob mentality does not a nation make.

If in doubt quote GW Bushler

There's an old saying in Tennessee â?? I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee â?? that says, fool me once, shame on â?? shame on you. Fool me â?? you can't get fooled again." â??President George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

See, in my line of work, you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." (Bush in Greece, N.Y., May 24

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and those are the ones you need to concentrate on-GWB

The argument O'Reilly makes is flawed.

He notes a poll stating that 51% of Americans wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton, under any circumstances, should she become the Democratic nominee. He concludes from this that "apparently, it doesn't matter what Mr. Bush is doing, most Americans don't want the most well-known liberal Democrat in the country sitting in the White House."

It's impossible to make that assumption, unless you're biased or trying to spin your readers (and surely Mr. No-Spin Zone wouldn't do that, now would he?).

The only thing you can surmise is that people don't like Hillary Clinton. Not that people don't want a liberal, progressive thinker in the White House.

This is the sort of twisted logic Bill O'Reilly is known for and why every respectable news organization in the world, not just America, takes everything he says with more than a single grain of salt.

Wake up, Torog. Your conservative beliefs may very well be valid, but when you quote devious sycophants like this, you do nothing to further your cause except to make yourself look extremely naive.

Torog, I understand that your views are conservative and as a rule you state them quite well and with good backup info, but quoting opportunistic twits like O'Reilly or gods forbid Hannity is truly a waste of time. They, like Limbaugh, Sam Cedar, that hag Janine Garafollo (THE angriest white bitch in the americas, stealing the title neatly from Alanis Morissette) and sadly, Al Franken (who used to be funny, I liked Al once) doesn't carry much weight. (at least not with me) All of these clowns are nothing more than capitilasts. Not that that's a bad thing but I am certain they would turn on their viewers/listeners in a heart beat if they thought the money was better on the other side. As for Hillary...she's a perfect example of this mentality. Once a flaming leftie she has since "softened" some of her views and moved more toward the middle. I suspect that if Howard Stern thought he could make more money doing the Pat Robertson thing, he's slap on a collar and be "born again" so fast it would make your head spin.
BTW...ever listen to Michael Savage? Now there's a right winger for ya. And even he makes a few good points now and again.

Ain't that the truth. The only thing that gets me with this thread is that people will point that out about a dude with a conservative view point and nothing like this is stated about Pissys hero from prisonplanet.
They all fall in the same boat, get the right format to fit the personallity and sell, sell, sell.

When the Godfather book (Mario Puzo) and movie (Brando, Pacino, Caan) came out, it was considered by many "intellectuals" to be a way of comparing corporations to criminal organizations (the "Mob").

I had one problem with that, being from Brooklyn. If you owed a few grand to American Express, and didn't pay, you'd get your paycheck garnished - at worst. If you owed the "boys" that much, and refused to pay, you'd get a baseball bat across the head. In their defense, though, the mob guys didn't pick on innocent civilians - most people that have problems with them are asking for it.

Comparing corporations to murderous terrorist savages is not realistic. The only way to beat them (terrorists) is to turn the tables and put fear where it belongs - in their back yard.
