England is a very expensive place to live perm., or for travel. 1lb ($) there is $2.50 here. So if I were to pick up 2 candy bars in England, it would cost me over $5.

But hey, if you got the funds, go for it, but it's not a cheap place to live.

uk is very expencive country
also english ppl are very freak! do not try to be a guest of someone there
they treat,... five tea, breakfast etc etc,.. for you...but after.....they want money for these gifts!

germans and english ppl ....are very shame!
nobody resent pls...this is the big reality of english ppl
in turkey our guests are like brother,sister....and our guests are like a part of our families, we treat them everything, and we don't (never!) want money for our gifts

Enjoy spending the money on a return ticket....They won't allow you into the country with a one way ticket and no work visa. I don't suggest trying the illegal aliean shit either...it won't take nearly as long as you think it will for them to realize your intentions and put you on the first plane back to the states.

then you've got a shit storm to navigate after that

STDzRus

Oh no I intend on going with a round trip ticket lol I was only joking about earlier. I only plan on staying for about two weeks really. Maybe longer if somehow I like it.

The more I read, the more I'm getting scared going over there with the clothes on my back and baggage. Maybe I should just save up some money. HMM.....

Stay up to six months if you'd like! But I wouldn't stay any longer than that..and i'm sure you'll realize by then just how bloody expensive the UK is.

Maybe if I had a place to stay when I first got there I wouldn't be as scared to travel there as I have gotten within the past minutes.

Yea.. i think everyone's gone through the stage where they'd like to just pickup and bugger off to the other side of the world. People do it all the time. People die all the time too.
Plan it, If you're serious about it.. plan it.. and do it right.

Don't know who you met in England - but this is not representative of the English at all!!

England is expensive, but then salaries are higher (generally) to compensate for this....

Health care is free (as long as you don't mind the wait!)

Unemployment level is one of the lowest in Europe, as is Inflation....

The English people are generally polite unless drunk...

Do not expect to get on the Property Ladder in the south of England... it is EXPENSIVE!!! But its starting to move northwards....

Weed (once you are connected), can be exceptionally high quality...

You get get to Amsterdam from the UK for less than £50....

England is one of the most cosmopolitan countries in the World - there are so many cultures represented here that actually identifying "the English Culture" is difficult - even for the English...

When the English are involved in a "World" event, it actually means competing with many countries around the world (unlike the "World Series")...

Not all Cockneys are criminals...

Not all Mancunians are thieves...

Not all Southerners are stockbrokers...

If you get into the UK, and eventually get citizenship, the British passport will allow you into many more countries without problems than a US passport...

Despite the European Union, England remains seperate and has an Island mentality, combined with the historic values of having been an empire...

English women (if you are not too fussy) are reputed to be the easiest in Europe... (apparantly)..

Howdy robert,

Well daggum..I was raised to look folks in the eye and say "Howdy",at the very least or at least tip my hat..as for cussing,I only do that when I mean it and I never use the 'C' word..lol.

Dang..it sounds like I wouldn't make it out of the airport, without pissing someone off..lol.

Howdy Syrus,

I still don't git it,I was raised to believe that only 'girlie-men',don't look another man in the eyes or a lady,in fact,we Texans consider it to be rude.

When I was stationed at Great Lakes navy base,up at Chicago,I found out real quick, that most yankee's think that saying Howdy and smiling,is just some kind of a suspicious thing..lol..they looked at me like I was fixin to rob em or something. Although, the waitresses in the cafes there, did seem to appreciate a friendly greetin..once they realized that I was sincere. I reckon that they were used to dealin with sour-faced yankees who only complain and make snide remarks.

Have a good one !

Howdy Y'all,

When I was in Saudi,we weren't allowed to stare at women and certainly never look em in the eyes unless we had some dang good reason to do so..how many other cultures are offended by lookin in their eyes and sayin "Howdy" ?

Are y'all Brits saying that if I pass someone on the street there, that they'd act like yankees and think that I'm up to no good - if I said Howdy and nodded my head at em ?

Have a good one !

Hi Torog, I think if you said "howdy" to a passer by they would just think it's a bit unusual, as if someone from over here were to say somthing like " aye aye fit liken the day" or "Awrite mate?" you would probable think "what?" but not in a bad way if you know what I mean. :rasta:

Its only really in places like London where people tend to keep themselves to themselves. If you tried to talk to someone on the tube you would be considered very weird. Don't know much about the south other than London but up North everyones pretty friendly you can just chat to strangers.

So long as you don't stare at someone you'd be fine.
