Ok, where to begin. we're in iraq, losing soldiers, wasting money, and wasting time. Granted they could be a threat to the u.s., as long as we keep security tight over here, it would be pretty hard for them to make way into the u.s. and even if they did, there's no way they could defeat us on our own land, at most they might make a small dent. they're over seas, seperated from usthey can't just run over some magical border and start attacking. ok, now onto my real question/point. i was watching america's most wanted today (as i do every saturday, i kind of expect to see my father on it someday, and would be the first to call in a tip) and i learned of something that could very easily become a major problem for us. i'm sure you've all heard of the drug cartels in mexico, but i'm pretty sure none of you even realize the extent to what is really going on over there. if anyone watched it, yes this is pretty much just repeated, this is for those who didn't see it. these drug gangs over there, are causing pure mayhem, havok and terror. these guys aren't afraid to have a full fledged shoot out in broad daylight, they have just about every weapon you can imagine from rocket launchers, grenades, to automatic rifles and .50 caliber MG's mounted on top of suburbans. they are kidnapping just about ANYONE they think is linked to money, and the majority of them are american tourists. some of the severe problems are right in our back yard, just across the border of larado tx. if you go there in suit and tie, you run a high risk of being kidnapped for ransom, and they aren't afraid to kill you if they don't get what they want. if you own a fancy car, if you have on expensive looking jewlery, if you own a buisness, anything, absolutely anything that makes them think you're worth more than 5-600 dollars you are a target. the worst part about it all, is the police. the police aren't even doing anything about it, they won't even help people that want answers for themselves. this guy's daughter was kidnapped and was never found again, he's an ex-fbi agent trying to get to the bottom of it. he spent months looking for clues, and the police told him they knew nothing. he found her car, in a pollice impound lot, he was told he could get it without a title over the phone, when he went there, they changed their story. and as said on the program, the average officer over there makes less than 700 dollars a month, so they are very easily bribed. so why are we even in iraq, when we have a more serious, threatening probelm just on other other side of our border? keep in mind two things, because i can just feel someone on bush's side would say something along these lines. it's not our war so we shouldn't fight is not a valid excuse becasue neither was the terrorist attacks over in iraq, we're no more safer now, then we were pre 9-11, especially since there are terroist linked people already living in this country. second, americans are the majority (by far, not like 55% american, 45% other, i'ts more along the lines of 85% american) target of these gangs.

Yeah I know what you are saying why are we in Iraq it is like you said a waste of money, lives, time and all for what It's been unbelievable the amount of lies that were told just to get there when none of this is true and I just don't get it except that it's bush ego I don't know, like you said there is noway anyone could invade america no way so there isn't that possibility 9/11 all there in front of your eyes no way is any of this a valid excuse.Except for bushs own personal benefit. Its shameful and like you said you are having troubles with your neighbours next door and all bush is worried about is invading another country that has nothing to do with him and they certainly weren't a threat to the americans and bush know's it the smart arse prick he should be shamed and anyone that believes in him.

Howdy slipknot,
We're in Iraq, because all 15 members of the security council at the UN,voted to use force to git saddam to comply with UN resolutions.
I watched America's Most-Wanted last night too and I agree, something needs to be done now-rather than later. However,we cannot afford to ignore one problem, while going after another.
I hope that Bush continues to be embarrassed by the border situation and that he's forced to deal with it..it serves him right:mad: Otherwise,I hope us border States, tell the feds to git lost,we'll take care of our own border security. In fact,I'd support an invasion by a Texas militia into Nuevo Laredo and other border towns and wipe out the dang drug-lords and cops and federales working for em. We need to capture some of the police and military units crossing over the border and find out if they really are a part of Mexican goverment.
Have a good one ....

Here's a riddle for you-Why did the oilman invade the oilfield? TO GET TO THE OIL. GW said it himself, we're addicted to oil. So we decided to rob a dopehouse.

We're in Iraq to drain them of their oil (Iraq is one of the richest countries in oil) Kind of a coincidence, eh? That the president has been in the oil buisness for a long time? No? Still not making that connection?
He's a pawn of his own greed and seems to have almost no control over it.
Wow, yeah lets squish the drug cartels so it's harder to get drugs! Who's side are you on anyway?

I know that there will be some "bigwigs" reading this post, so I'm gonna propose that we raise enough money to shower the globe in weed-smoke.

Saddam had it coming. Iraq was a gamble, but if it pays off it's a timeline moment in the Middle East. It's driven the moolahs to madness, so much so that even Europe is hitching up their plums. Assad has assumed a thumb-sucking fetal position in the corner now that he's under the UN microscope. Arafat died of loneliness and fear.
Of course Middle Eastern politics are about oil. America is addicted to oil. So is the People's Republic of China. So is India. PRC is perennially voted the worst human rights abuser on Earth. No one questions their motives when dealing with oil and mineral rich governments. They sell arms to and block sanctions on Khartoum, abetting a genocide in the Sudan. They prop up Kim Jung il. They trade with anyone, no questions asked, and even run cover from their permanent seat on the UN Security Council...and seat on the Human Rights Commission.
But Bush worked in the oil business. He understands the strategic importance of the Middle East to the US economy. He understands that murderous tyrants and crazed islamists are a threat to the stability of the region. He understands that democratic countries rarely invade one another. He understands that the people of Iraq and the Middle East deserve better than tin-horn dictators, autocrats, and theocrats.
Big risk, big reward. Where was US policy in the Middle East headed before 9/11?

There's only one reason we have ever been involved in middle eastern issues and it ain't oil and it ain't civil rights and it ain't even some "vast right wing" conspiracy cooked up by the falwells and robertsons of the world to hasten armageddon or convert the heathens and it ain't even some idealistic attempt to bring democracy to the downtrodden...we have been screwing with the middle east and all the other cultures we have screwed with for one reason...Money!!
Just my opinion but it works for me.

I'll stick to the above reasons. We're not getting any "free oil" and their new oil contracts include such countries as Canada and Norway so it's not all about the U.S. sucking out all the oil.
As for the money...I really don't understand that one. Here's a cost counter for ya.

What do they want to do with the oil? I'm guessing sell it for (drumroll, please) money!

It's not so much the oil as the infrastructure, no bid contracts for food, security, roads, schools, transportation etc etc etc. (can you say Haliburton? They've got their fingers in all of it) Not to mention all of the munitions, planes, hummers, uniforms, ammo, etc etc. We get the vast majority of our oil from canada, mexico and south america. (last I heard the entire middle wast was only supplying about 25% of our oil) We SHOULD be taking their damned oil for what this war is costing us and at one time there was some mention of doing just that but then it would have rallied the cries of "oil war" from idiots around the world.

True enough, but that was only stage one. Stage two was to buy the oil for a nickel on the dollar. But that's never gonna happen, the place is such a mess they now import oil. Hey, I never said it was a good plan. They now have to settle for 10's of billions of profits, rather than 100's of billions. Still not a bad payoff for the money they invested in bush's campaighn.

i'm on the side you think i am... but i'm not for easier to obtain drugs if many innocents are dying/being kidnapped and so on... i want weed yes, but not if it's obtained by the blood of innocents... if i was to advocate death/kidnapping and so on just for drugs, well i wouldnt' be much diffrent from bush... he's all for getting oil and crap, but he WILL look past pointless deaths and this stupid war to get it, i won't. also, if weed were to be legalized completely in the U.S. (assuming there wasnt' a ban on growing it..) we wouldn't need these drug cartels smuggling it in, we may not even need dealers (except for those of who would rather just buy it then take the time to grow it themselves) these people have machine guns, mounted on top of armored SUV's and aren't afraid to use them, there was this one scene... everything had holes in it, cars, windows, furniture, buildings and so on.. do you think there was no one there when it happened? just think, if they go through some populated place where hundreds are just shopping, eating and all that... and something stands in their way, they don't negotiate, they just open fire, they have no regaurds for anything... all the innocent people killed, just so they can get drugs across the boarder, i'd rather not have weed then have it that way.

I wouldn't even bother trying to explain it to these children. Most of it is way above their heads. Not to many critical thinkers around here. Whatever, they are always good for a laugh. Pisshead is the best, she has gotten way sloppy.
