I'm having a hell of a time finding the lens for a Grow Max jr 250 watt hps. I went to the Glass shops locally and there telling me 50-75 dollars for a lens that cost 15 with the unit. The specs are 13.5x14.5 I think(I cut out a cardboard facsimile and brought it around and that's what it measured). I can't find the manufacturer anywhere or I'd try and get a lens throught them.

any ideas?

Really? That seems like a really thick piece of pyrex and I think the quality of the light will be affected. Has anyone ever tried this. I'm getting desperate. If I have to spend 80 bucks I'll just go out and buy a 400 watt HPS with the lens included for a couple hunskies!

My light is in one of those big rectangular white sheet metal boxes with the ballast built in. I don't think I could pull the shit apart and put it back together in a tube. I'm just not that good.

I thought you meant like one of those pyrex baking dishes like for a casserole or something! LOL!

If all you need is a glass sheld then clear double strength window glass is fine. It's cheap and easy to find. Single strenghth will work but it breaks easy if you smack it while its hot.

HD sells and cuts galss as well. Some even have double strength glass too.

I have also found that you can buy tempered glass at most glass co's and tru-value hardware store's.

I have 1 self contained 250w light...I have removed the hood to relieve some of the ambient heat produced by the reflector...I no longer use reflector's but let the white panda plastic reflect my lighting all around the room. Much Cooler!

WOW!! Thanks people. I think I'm going to go with the 2xstrenghth glass, the cool tube thing looks frickin' awesome but I just can't do all that stuff. I'm a simp. With my space I don't think heat will be an issue. I am getting a 400 and something CFM squirrel cage blower and an oscillating fan(at the canopy). My space is like 50 cubic feet so it should be great in there( I should move in with them!).

I heard a good rule of thumb is to go with CFM=Watts of light. It's probably overkill, but if I want to upgrade to 400 or 600 watts it'll be perfect.

Thanks again for all the help. Although this is a smaller site than some of the others, it has been so much more helpful and friendly.
