They keep bringing out studies on how cannabis effects teenagers. Saying that being a heavy cannabis smoker leads to psychosis and other mental illnesses.
The question I have is what is classed a heavy user?
An ounce a day? An ounce a week? What are they baseing there "facts" on?

I think the term chronic use is smoking at least once every day. Probably more then once a day actually. I smoke everyday, so i guess i'm a heavy user. Oh yea, what was i saying? *smokes bowl*

But are they judging on the amount smoked or the regularity of smoking? I am just wondering because I vape about 4 times a week but use hardly any maybe an 1/8 a month if that.

That's a good question. I'd say it's how much you consume over a certain time period. Then again what do i know i'm just a stoner.

Heavy use I think would be a spliff a day, going into how much weed you put in your spliffs is going too far for the government... so a jay a day will turn your brain to mush :D
Also, glad to see you posting finally Mr. Rus! :D

I've seen heavy use described as more than once a week especially in these latest "studies" about pot and schizophrenia. Keep in mind that a lot of these studies are theoretical. It wouldn't be ethical to force teenagers to smoke to conduct research so a lot of these so-called findings are calculated, not actually observed. It's also worth mentioning that in the US there is no clean, controlled source of research MJ outside of that grown under the watchful eye of the DEA at the University of Mississippi.

In various pamphets and information about alcoholism I've seen they usually ask the question "Do you drink more than 3 alcoholic drinks per week?" This seems low to me but the line between user and abuser seems to be pretty fine when they compare us to "clean" people. Of course pot and alcohol are nothing alike but it's highly possible that is where they are drawing inspiration from.

I have heard doctors say that if you smoke 3 or more joints a week, you are stoned all the time...as in, there is always MJ in your system if you smoke that much, but who knows for sure.
They say if a cocaine user uses 1gram of cocaine a day, there are considered an addict, but it could be different for marijuana

Sometimes I'll smoke up to a quarter in one day but that's about it, I guess... but if I do that, I don't smoke for another couple days after. And IF I do smoke for longer periods then I take a week off.
And then there are special occasions... Ok, heavy user... maybe.

Usually I'd kill 1 or 2 grams on the weekdays and then my friends and I would go in together for a 1/4 or so to take with us to parties. I'd imagine that's considered heavy use.
But are they judging on the amount smoked or the regularity of smoking? I am just wondering because I vape about 4 times a week but use hardly any maybe an 1/8 a month if that.
thats nothing at all, dont even think about it.. wish i was like that.. wish i had a vape aswell

People actually smoke ounces a day?!
Yes...Let me paint MY picture for you.
A 16 year old graduates from HS and obtains a waiting job that has amazing tips. (100 dollars + on average per day)
He has nothing else to do but play XBOX and hang out, and of course work.
He has a lot of freetime because he has no school.
He likes weed.
He's been smoking for 8 years already and he can afford oz's of MIDS like it's nothing in AZ. (60USD)
That's why I was doing it so much, because I had the money, the time, and I enjoyed it. And I could even go to work stoned so waking, baking, and smoking ALL DAY was nothing really for me, I mean, I wouldn't go back into that habit especially with prices around here, and because it did have some toll on the way I am today, not that it was a negative effect it just changed me a little bit, emotionally I would say, which isn't important to me.
Anyways, yes, people do smoke ounces a day. I've never smoked an ounce BY MYSELF but I have gone through large quantities with just one other person, I can't tell you much about those days, I remembered them at one time.
