I was talking with this guy who doesn't toke himself but is very repectful towards tokers and he told me that he believes based on observations of his friends that pot causes permanent or long lasting (weeks) "slowing of the mind" and decreased mental capacity. He really got me thinking, could he be right? I was wondering if you guys feel that way, cuz sometimes i could almost swear that i thought clearer in the past.

Wouldn't change a thing even if i forgot who I was Lmao!

I have a pact with my true friend that no matter how bad things get or if I can't talk just find some way of getin me high and I'l know I'm home lol.

There's a recent study (check out PubMed) that says that marijuana protects the brain. Most plant chemicals are protective. Alcohol, however, kills brain cells.

alcohol isnt growable, it doesnt grow, it is the result of decomposition, it is not a chemical or compound that you can find naturally growing, it has no life.

Yeah alcohol is a waste product from yeast, a toxin that the yeast wants to get rid of.

Smoking cannabis led to brain damage to me once. I was smoking a joint and this cop hit me in the head with his belly-club. I was dizzy for days, but it wasnt nothing that a good "hit" of medicinal cannabis couldnt take care of.

I then proceeded to my box of alphabet cereal where i spelled out the word "cops", and ate them. Thanks to my quick actions i saved others from the same fate and got rid of the local police force.

Weed doesn't damage your brain as much as television does ;) ditch the tube, get with the herb.

Blow up your tv
Throw away your paper
Move to the country
Build you a home
Plant a lil cannabis
eat a lot of peaches
and try to find your truths
on your own.

dai*ma  Thats how
It can grow in a window box
It can grow in your yard
It's only a plant
It cant be that hard :stoned:

Yo guyz! Weed hasb't been causing me any problems, but I'm not a heavy smoker. I toke once or twice a week to be on the safe side. I know people who have started to mess their head up quite a bit from smokin wed. My mate knows this one dude who paranoia so bad he gets really anxious and worried if someone he doesn't know knocks on his door. And one of my dealers is real paranoid from smokin' too much and always worried about being caught by policevand I once texted him on my mate's phone to sort us something out and he got really paranoid 'coz he didn't remember the person who owned the phone, so sent me a text to be on the safe side. He aksed my mate who he was, what he looked like and shit like that, incase he was like some kinda undercover cop or somethin'. But I would be just as worried in his shoes anyway. But I reassured him. Sometimes paranoia can be a mixture of shit on your mind and smokin' too much weed. But the amount of damage caused by weed has all got to do with how much you smoke and how often. But convincing yourself that your coming to harm from weed too much can mess your head up too. I know that from experience whe I had depression. Once I realised I wasn't smoking enough to cause any serious harm, I was calm about it and I feel fine about it all now. But if you're worried, you could always cut down or take a break. Peace out

People who do illegal stuff often tend to be paranoid. It's not the weed, it's being afraid of the law. The fact that people are highly aware of the possiblity of getting arrested WHILE they are high shows that marijuana doesn't cause you to lose your senses. A crack head is not concerned about the law when they are high.

My grand daughter(one of two) said something that made me want to hug her to death. She said, "Gramps, if the government feels that they need to put our sickest citizens in jail for using medical marijuana in order to protect us kids, i would rather have someone else protect us"unquote. I am probably one of the proudest people on earth right now. She will be 15 next month.
She keeps this up and she'll get that Guitar i boughtfor her for her birthday a few weeks early.

cannabis doesn' kill braincells...grow your own and you wont even be forgetting stuf...it's the chemical they put in that is not good...plus if you fell your numb or something its only normal...your cells are numb but not dead cause from the time you stop smoking the numbness stops also!

as to alchohol... i dont think its a good idea to ingest something thats used to sanitize and clean shit.

ill bet ya that if you take a shot of Clorox bleach you'll get a pretty good buzz going. but you know not to do that. so why dont you understand that alchohol is poison too???

Crispyfried
01-27-2006, 10:09 PM
Yeah alcohol makes you drunk because it is a poison. Marijuana merely binds to receptors in your brain that you already have, and you actually make your own cannabinoids, that's why people have those receptors. Opiates are similar, but of course too much heroin will kill you. But anyhow, alcohol is a toxin, plain and simple. And nicotine is officially classified as a poison by the way. Sure it's also a plant chemical, but it's a poison as well. Cannabinoids make a great drug because of their non-toxicity. And if you don't believe that alchohol is a poison, go slam a fifth of whisky and see how you feel.

Crispyfried

Here's how alcohol works. Yeast ferment sugar (they eat it to live), and excrete alcohol as a waste product. When the alcohol content in their environment becomes too great, the yeast die in their own excrement. That's why you don't see naturally fermented alcoholic beverages with over about 13 percent alcohol, the yeast can't live when the alcohol content ecxeeds this amount. Thus distilling alcohol is necessary to achieve higher concentrations of alcohol.

Tell him to check this site for references.

This is #6 on the list.
6. Cannabinoids do kill brain cells, but the brain cells they kill are called "Glioma" or Cancer of the brain(Tumor). All other brain cells are protected and healed by cannabinoids. (Glioma cells cannot tolerate the action of cannabinoids)

Actually, he call e-mail this guy, or call him, or whatever.

It's called "dope" for a reason. Use weed too much...and it'll make you, like, um, dopey, bro. I don't think it causes chronic damage, unless you smoke it while you're too young and still developing. It's possible to get "burnt out" on the drug after a while, but if you quit you'll bounce back to good as new.

It's different for everyone. Look at how many brain cells George Carlin has barbequed over the years...he smoked weed starting when he was 13, and smoked every single day of his life, even when he was in the air force, until he was 42. He was a stonehead for THIRTY YEARS. Then he had a consuming cocaine addiction from 1972-1975. He did acid, I know, and recenlty just got out of rehab for addiction to alcohol (bottle and a half of wine a day, he went to rehab so it wouldn't get worse), and Vicodin. Now he is SIXTY-NINE years old, and look at what a genius he is...smarter, and more creative, than 99.99% of the people on this planet.

Then again, some people who do 1/10th as many drugs as he did are affected much worse. Especially with a very potent drug like LSD...I have a friend who has not really been the same since he got a hold of some bad stuff, or strong stuff or something.

Just use the drug judiciously, so that it DOES something for you, and not just to distance yourself from reality, and you'll be fine. Use it wisely and it won't make you dumber, it will enhance your life.

It's fucked up my memory, all the enjoyable times I used to have no problem remembering, just instantly dissappear, and it's a damn shame.

Now it's hard to remember what I did yesterday, yet sometimes I can remember things from years ago, like I can be in the state of mind I was when I was 10.

But overall it really does affect me negatively, cause anything I do during the day, I can't remember, or enjoy a good moment like I used to... so time just zips by like nothing.

i call bullshit, GWB was previously stupid before he started toking it up.

marijuana does not cause stupidity, or "dopyness", that is individual specific, and a previous condition, that is agitated by marijuana at most.

I'm saying Carlin was smart, before and after drugs. Or maybe you were making a stoner joke and acting dumb and *pretending* to misinterpret my post?

I always thought that the original dope was those who outlawed cannabis.
To say too much weed makes you dopey is an ignorant statemment that dude might want to limit to himself. The word , dope, when used in the sense that its presented to us in describing cannabis is prohibition propaganda. It's demeaning to us pot smokers. thats what it was meant to do. influence the public into thinking that those of us who use "dope" cant be trusted and their is something wrong with us and that we need to be removed from society.
The fact is that people from all walks of life use pot. smart people, dumb people, and people who havent figured out just what they are or arent yet.
I need to go harm my brain some more. I'm off to watch the news and listen to bush the lesser speak.

yeah well it never did any harm to me anyway, i smoke about an 1/8 a week these days , in the final year of a double bA
it can make u a bit antisocial sometimes if u smoke alone u couldnt be bothered talking to people
but it enhances creative thinking no end, in moderation (1 or 2 joints a day)i believe no real harm is done
