yeah yeah yeah, I know it's cannabis.com, but consider this a refreshing change of scenery...

Tell us about one of your profound "spiritual" experiences that does not (did not?) involve the use of a drug.
No smoking stories. No tales of mushrooms, acid or ecstacy.
Pure unadulterated experiences only please.

I was singing in church and it was a hymn that everyone knew and it just had a certain reverberation to it that really struck a chord with me.

Also, I stubbed my toe and did some meditating and the pain just sort've mediatated away, it was wierd.

I suppose that would be my first successfull long-term meditation. For those who haven't tried it, it's actually a lot harder than it looks, clearing the mind and maintaining mental focus and clarity. I spent a couple months trying on and off and couldn't make it past 3-5 minutes. then one day I just felt this calm spontaneously decided to sit down and go for it.

I was just about to watch seinfeld when I realized it had just ended, which was at 4:00. so I sat down right then and decided to give it another shot. remarkably I ended up comfortably holding the state for a long time, and when I came out I looked at the clock and saw it was 4:40.

not a remarkable story full of conversations with jesus I know, but it was a huge milestone for me to finally overcome the meditation barrier, one which all buddhists will tell you is extremely difficult to get past.

so my advice to you meditators, don't give up! it takes a long time before that brain muscle gets strong enough, years for some, weeks for others.

I think I would have to bring up a particular meditation session.... I had lost track of time, I was holding on to this feeling of inner peace although it was like my mind was seperated from my body, I was unaware of any sound or any physical sensation. For a moment I though I had projected myself into the spirit realms... but I think I just came very close to turning my brain "off" because it seemed there was no thought at all, just pure, ecstatic peace. My mom had to yell my name 4 times before I realized it was time for dinner. Not an ecstatic vision, but enlightening nonetheless

I was extreamly depressed for about 6 or 7 months slowly getting worse and worse then all of a sudden i felt pure love wash through me and i was completely changed..i wrote things that sounded like they were from the bible then directly after that i had an uncontrollable feeling to read the bible..for some reason i looked at the last page it said somthing like if u attempt to add or change the bible you will get the plauges. the first plauge is locusts, later that day a bee flew into my mouth and bugged the shit out of me..then i sat in my car and one stung me on the neck i got rid of it then started driving and the bigest fuckin bee ive ever seen landed right infront of me on my windshield...bees flying around me constantly continued until i burned the paper that i wrote on..i never really believed the bible but that shit was crazy

Yeah, I went on a journey somewhere, sometime between Oct. 18 and the first week of Nov., 1994.

My memory skipped from a late-night, one-sentence conversation with my roommate about a cockroach to my Brother's dog jumping on me in a wheelchair, out in front of Virginia Beach General Hospital.

My Grandpa died in April of 2005. I was very close to him, but we were a couple states away from eachother. They had a motorhome and would come out to see us, pick me up and take me with them on the way wherever. We went a few places. But anyways, a while after he died, not sure how long. I was really depressed, not sleeping well. I would get up like every few hours, smoke and go back to sleep. One night I got up and was sitting on the couch next to the phone at 2 am, just put the pipe to my mouth and my phone sounded like someone picked it up and shook it. It rang, but not like it is supposed to. There is a bell in my phone, it sounded like a muffled ring. It didn't move or do anything weird. And just once.

So I thought, Okay grandpa, I get the point. I went to bed, and right away I felt him tickle my foot, and then I heard "something" scratching" the blanket by my ear. The first night my mom came to where I live after he died we were talking about him and stuff. My mom slept on the couch that night and said she felt him tap her on top of the head.

One other time I saw a floating fuzzy dim ball of light in my room. That was probablt the first thing I ever saw and It scared the crap out of me. My Grandpa would be #2. That's it though :)

I can't think of anything except some weird sleep experiences. Waking up completely spazzing out, realizing I don't know why, but not being able to stop. We decided it was night terrors (it was when I was little) but I never remembered any nightmares or anything.

I also woke up once to a woman's face right in front of mine with no body, just like her face and I screamed and as soon as I screamed she went away. Some sort of half awake half dreaming thing I guess.

And once I woke up in a dream laying next to my girlfriend, and then woke up again laying next to my girlfriend and it was really disorienting. I tried to explain it to her but she told me to go back to sleep since it was like the middle of the night.

This is kind of odd. All of you seem to have had a pro experience.

I was home one night a few years (I think it was 3 years if that) back. (Before I started smoking weed) I was sitting in my living room watching Tv and the lights were low. I feel asleep and woke up around 2 in the morning. The T.v was off and it was raing. I checked the lights and there was no power. I light some candles and sat back down listening to the rain fall and watching the lightning flash. I was in such peace. About ten mins have passed and another flash of lightning lit the sky. During the flash I saw someone outside in my yard. I thought "How odd...I must be seeing things." I got up and looked out the window and sure enough no one was there. I just thought I was over tired. I took a candle and went to get a drink of juice and then head to bed. As I was walking to the kitchen another flash of lightning and out on the hill in my yard I saw someone. I just stoped. I knew then for sure I saw a person just standing there. I went to the window and I could see the person just standing there. I thought it was odd but I went to get my coat and check it out. I went out side to the hill and the person was gone. I got a little freaked out. I looked around the yard and never say anything. I went towards my house and sitting on the step was a man. I was scared. I wnt up to him and he looked at me. He said he was sorry and he loved me. A flash of light from the sky and I saw his face. I was even more scared when I noticed it was my grandfather. I rubbed my eyes and when I opend them again he was gone. I looked around some more but I didn't see him. I went inside and I could get to sleep. The next day around 8 in the morning I got a call. My pop passed away at 12 the night before. I droped the phone and just stood there. I can't even explain how I felt. I convinced myself I was going crazy...

I was sitting on my couch listening to Tool's Parabola, and near the end I decided to try opening my third eye again, so during that last bit of Parabola where everything seems to be chaotic yet fitting together, I felt that rush again...

For the next 2 hours, everything in the universe made sense. Nothing was beyond my reasoning abilities.

And now, I can only remember a couple things out of those 2 hours of revelation after revelation.

That's just sad :(

Whenever i listen to certain Johnny Cash or Bob Dylan songs i immediately tear up.

Also I experience spirituality whenever i visit Nicaragua & Guatemala(mission trips).

I witnessed birds fluttering and then dissipating into ash and falling from the sky, right in front of my face. Some freaky, paranormal shit... this really happened last fall. Definitely the most relegious sense I have ever felt, not to mention this overall sense of intense apprehension, yet serenity I can't explain.

what is the connotation (from God) here? does it resemble anyone's Acid or shroom hallucinations? crazy, beautiful/

Here's one that involves Electricity.

Last period of classes, in 9th grade, as we were waiting for the bell, I stuck my finger in a four-way lightswitch, that had one of the switches missing, in an attempt to shut the other light off from the inside.

I had my back turned to the class, but, after sticking my finger in, I floated backwards and saw my whole class, with my teacher sitting in front, but the angle was like I was hanging from the ceiling (on the opposite end of the room from where I was standing).

The next thing I knew, I was in front of the wall, again.
