Yeah I cried after Armageddon too, but it was for two different reasons-
1 that I wasted 2 hours on what I consider to be one of the top ten worst movies of all time!!! And 2 because my eyes burned from watching the worst actor in the whole world "Been-Ass-Licked"!!

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this before, but I really liked Jude laws character in GATTACA, that was before the world tried to make him into something, w/e.
I just enjoyed the concept. SILVER FUCKING MEDAL YOU SON OF A BITCH.
Yeah, all I'm saying is, I got a bit teary on that, but I saw it coming, it was still quality. That whole movie made me teary, like at the end, when he was going into the program to go into space, he peed his real pee into the cup, and said "remember, remember that I could have gone, that I was good enough, that I could do it" and the doctor mentioned something in muttering absentia parlance; passing about "right handers dont hold it with thier left anyways...my son wants to go into space one day...He has a hard time understanding some things"
Even now that movie is not on my movie library shelf. It is far far more ahead of its time then people realise, and the interpretations drawn are only at surface level. It wwould just hurt too much to really go into the whole thing of it. In fact I am adding that to my signature after this.

I always liked Gattaca too. GREAT photography, writing, and directing. And amazingly enough it was still a good movie even though it had one of the worldâ??s worst actors, Ethan Hawke!
But crying from Gattaca?? I donâ??t know about that. Yeah Jude kills himself in the end but still on a scale of 1 to 10 on the cry-O-meter I would say maybe a 3 at most.
Andrew Niccol also was involved in two other movies I really liked - He wrote "The Truman Show" and "The Terminal" both of whice were directed by Spielburg.
Niccol's resume is very short, he has only been involved in 5 movies!! But I think 3 of the 5 he has done were very good! - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0629272/

I like the part where you kill the world when you fuck it up ^^

Well jude law dying was aprt of it, and the tearing was a combination of the futile beauty of absurdity, it was a combination really. the doctor scene at the end makes the movie I think. Without that piece none of the other pieces could be viewed as the true fragile humanity it is meant to portray.
But then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I like to like things. ^^

I saw The Great Raid last weekend, and that one was capable of evoking intense feelings. It's based on the true story of the biggest prisoner rescue in American Military Hisory: 500 American WWII POW's in a Jap camp.
Plot Outline: Taking place during World War II, 500 POW's have been entrapped in a camp for 3 years. Beginning to give up hope they will ever be rescued, a group of Rangers goes on a dangerous mission to try and save them. Plot Synopsis: Set in the Philippines in 1945, THE GREAT RAID tells the true story of the 6th Ranger Battalion, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Mucci (Benjamin Bratt) who undertake a daring rescue mission against all odds. Traveling thirty miles behind enemy lines, the 6th Ranger Battalion aims to liberate over 500 American prisoners-of-war from the notorious Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp in the most audacious rescue ever.
Worth seeing.

wow 30 miles, thats astounding, thats almost like a small unit of troops infiltrating and evading while completeing a successful small time operation...Back in teh day they would have called that doing your job, now its a movie cause all the cool parts of the war have academy awards already :p
But yeah its not against all odds, its a calculated risk that paid off, that is part of war. Imagine the quality of the beautiful german movies if the ardenne offensive had resulted in germans having the troops and tanks fueld and fed and ready to hold to a peace. Id rather speak german then piglish neways :p

Ha, it's the people that DON'T know how to cry that end up raping 11 year old boys when they're 40 and "happily married". There are so many "real men" on this forum I almost get sick to my stomach.
Not many films make me cry but the last couple of times I remember getting teary eyed was during Garden State and The Notebook.

Garden State was good, dunno about crying material though. I really dont actually cry, but the last movie that at least got me teary eye'd was BLOW. That scene at the end when George makes that tape for his dying dad was really moving, and made me think about my relationship with my dad.
Oh, and also Alexander got me thinkin bout my momma some. Good movie.

I don't think that crying, or not crying, from a movie means anything, When I was a kid, I loved horror movies, but some of my friends would have nightmares, so they couldn't watch them. They had saturday matinees for kids - and often showed a few pictures for like 50 cents.
Some people, especially film experts, can sort-of deconstruct the movie and leave their emotions behind while they are watching. But, if they love film, they appreciate the feelings that the director, writer(s) and actors can evoke
I cried big-time after Mystic River - only because I wasted my money at the box office for this phony piece of gargage that most people raved about.
I used to enjoy "Mr. Cranky's" movie review web site - but haven't seen it lately.

There was nothing wrong with Tim Robbin's acting in this movie, or the photography, etc. The story was contrived, total bullshit. I'm a fan of Clint Eastwood's acting (wooden as is it), and SOME of his directing, but this story was nonsense and had more holes than a lb. of Swiss Cheese, IMHO.
P.S. Sean Penn is a usually a very good actor, but his "tough-guy" act is wearing thin at this point.
