Ahh yes, but the Conservative leader insists on jail time for smoking a joint.
Based on the nature of this forum, is that a good thing?
I don't know from what perspective you are looking, but in the world's eye, Canada is a "real country".
This is not to say the Liberals are any good. All Canadians did was elect the lesser of 2 evils. I can just see pisshead's post about how the American admin. helped Harper get elected (helped him cheat to win).

I voted NDP, but honeslty I'm not all that disappointwed that the Conservatives one, if only for the sake of change. The Liberals have been in power since 1993, and there isn't a political party on Earth that can stay in power that long without becoming extremely corrupt.
Besides, the Conservatives have a very slim majority, so they won't be able to force any crazy legislation without the support of at least one or two orther parties, who are all more to the left. I think Canada will be better off in the long run, even though Harper is Bush North.

In actuality, the Conservatives have only a minority govt. not a majority, not even a "slim majority". That means the govt. can be defeated at anytime and we can have another election in just a few months. The longest a minority govt. has held power is always less than 2 years.
Don't be so sure that the Conservatives aren't as corrupt as the Liberals. They're all corrupt and if they aren't (the less popular parties), they soon will be as the corporate giants get their fingers in the pie. In my mind, it the corporate sector that runs the country and the politicians are just puppets.
Harper as Bush north - it will be interesting to see how CDN/Am. relations change over the next few months.
