So, a question for the board. I read a lot of trip reports on here that seem to think a bad trip involves losing your concept of self for a period of time. I have had trips where I forgot everything (literally) and simply existed for an unknown length of time. However, perhaps because of my particular outlook this is one of the most satisfying parts of the trip for me. I've had it to some extent everytime I trip.
I consider some overcomings to simply be part of the trip. You know: buy the ticket, take the ride.
Other perspectives? Some of you seem to take egoloss rather personally... what are your thoughts?
Help me see your side of things.

it's like your ego seperates during the high, and you become more subconsciously awayre of it, and as such, personal habits that you dont like, and are pointed out, you feel them more personally, and are able to let go easier, because you dont really care about it anymore, it is no longer important...
they say you're losing ambition, i say you're overcoming ego.

I have had Salvia trips where I found myself in someone elses body and started to forget about this life here. I wanted to stay there too :-). Everything just seemed so normal on the other side. Like I was supposed to be there and this place here was fake.

I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't find the experience of egoloss to be enlightening. I thought that's what getting high was all about?
Although, I guess I'm talking about psychedelic highs - as opposed to pleasure highs.
BA-DAH-BING! That must be it. The line must fall somewhere close to that divide between people who use drugs for the enjoyment and those that use if for the mind-expansion (the line of people who find egoloss experiences to be beneficial versus those that consider ego-loss experiences to be bad trips.)
Eh?

The only bad experience I've ever had, while tripping, wasn't a sub-conscious loss of self. It was more like, "Okay, Joey, if I get lost and start yelling, open the door." And I got lost and started yelling before he closed the door.

This one time I lost myself on mushrooms, totally lost myself. So I go into the mall with some friends, already starting to come up...by the time we were leaving in my mind something had happened that made all the secrets of the world revealed. Everybody knew everything and we were all the same person. This was somewhat frightening, especially when I came to a point where I had forgot that I was on drugs and couldn't feel myself breathing, time was completely frozen. It must have been some time after that they told me life was nothing but fate, I had died and was awaiting rebirth as the world spun before my eyes.
That was the gist of it, though some other events took place which I cannot place chronologically. According to my friends though I did nothing but repeat things people said, scream and run around. I woke up at 6 am the next morning with the ideas of this crazy experience fresh as a dream in my mind, it took me a while to realize it was no dream at all.

i never truly realized how much ego i dont actually have, while managing to retain a huge egotistical attitude... not having an ego is part og my having a huge ego, but this is in the eyes of others, which i find humurously ironic.
i have found that people will become angrier when you show no emotion... that when you display no ego, people become infuriorated with you, and even call you egotistical.
untill i really thought about it, i thought they were right, i thought that i did, in fact, have some bloated ego, and i was just dismissing it, but after a deeper look into myself, i realize that my ego is very small actually, and on the verge of nonexistance.

the path of learning to lose or control your ego is the path to enlightonment. If you think you dont have an ego your most likely wrong..take shadow stoner wolf for example he said he would like to kill people in the "do you compromise thread" but in the post above this one he says he has almost no ego..wanting to kill sombody means you have hardcore ego..you'll know when you dont have ego..it will seem like everybody's minds are moving slowly as if stuck in mud and you will easily recognize others without ego.

heres what the ego is....
you are attatched to things here in this physical reality
it could be loved ones or objects or places
it also can be your physical body
when you have an ego loss here is what happens.....
you could have done say Salvia for example and you pop out of your body or everything starts to melt around yourself including your body
you suddenly feel afraid that you wont be able to come back and everything is so real like you lose yourself
you will think about your loved ones and say oh no I will never see these people again or something
or the famous question.... am I dead?????? where am I?????
the trick is to let go of everything you hold dear and you will be ok when you get back :-)

also .......
someone with a big ego is a different sort of thing than ego loss
but then again they are the most likely to not let go when it comes time and have a panic attack and go to the mental ward
