View Full Version : Reincarnation as a natural process

I am an atheist, but recently i have been thinking about reincarnation. After a lot of thinking on teh subject i am starting to believe that reincarnation does occur, but not in the way that most people would believe it to. I believe that reincarnation can and does exist totally independent of any dieties. My reasoning behind these beliefs is this (i am high right now so i apologize for any spelling or gramatical errors in advance):
Many atheists, including myself, believe that when you die your body will return to the state that it was in before you born, which is basically non-existence. Well if i have gone through that state of non-existence before, and was somehow able to go from non-existence to being a living, breathing, animal before, then what stops me from doing it again when i return to that exact same state of non-existence. If i was able to do it before i was born, then what stops me from doing it again after i die. If i return to the exact same state that i was in before i was born, then there is no reason why i wouldnt be able to go through the same process again, i.e. being conceved, born, and then dying again.
Now the next "you" would not have the same personality or any other traits of the current "you" as you would have a totally different brain chemistry and would probably be an entirely different animal.
There are no gods involved in the process. It is a completly random process, and it doesnt matter how good or bad you were in your last life. Everyone has the same chance of becoming a toad or a butterfly as you or I, and it is very unlikly that someone would become a human for two concecutive lives as this is a totally random process, and the odds of becoming a human again, out of all the other species of animals is next to none.
This theory of mine basically states that reincarnation is a totally natural process and would happen whether there is a god or not. I am only 16 years old and i'll admit i dont have much knowledge on the subject of reincarnation and i dont know if this has ever been brought up before, but please feel free to post any comments or criticism, as there is probably some fatal flaw in this theory that i am currently unaware of.

And please dont reply if you intend to challenge my atheism, as I created this thread to discuss the subject of reincarnation not my religious beliefs. (I only say this because i get alot of crap about being atheist and am getting sick of it.)

I'm a fellow atheist and a recent 40 yr study on death by amsterdam and other eu nations is rather interesting. They've proven that consciouness exists after physical death if you'de like more detail I can help out. I just thought id add that little tidbit. It seems even science agrees that we have a "soul" although according to them its energy which fits in with my personal theory (which id be happy to discuss as well) of life and death.

I'd like to see some stuff about their study... do you have a website or some information you can post?

Take this fater of fact type of thought.

If who i am is a law. think liek im an equasion . planet + sosciety * genetics = who i am and where i am today. Then i am just because i am. In i was i am what is. My law can be used to interprate the universe to someone living in another dimension liek the 5th dimension. I'm a law thats needed to exist for a larger dimension to take place. Reminds me of something i once had hear in the catholic chuch i was raised in about a phrohet who uesed to "speak with god" and walk in his (forest or garden) and oneday he was no longer alive. Carried on ascention into heaven by the wings of angels.

A local priest told us that angels don't have free will, which is what makes us special and above them.. Fuck this is insane. The angels took him away? The laws in a smaller dimension combined with the law of this dimension for a new dimension to be born (because it would have to be).

Try hypothisizeing that angels represent dimensions of thought (because the bible was written using sybolism) a past dimension and were the result of it!

What if our Re-incarnation is just being. The ablility to just be the law makes us attached to other laws, the equsion that is our universe, our reality, and our dimension.

i am 2 + 4.
You are 3 + 8.
(as an example were obviously more complicated then that.)

Were all just laws the small end result would be the end of our lives. The equasion to figure out what will be the end of humanity may already have been predestined, or even already forseen... for the most part. If you can see ahead of people then you might as well be time travelling. I don't think our minds are capable of knowing so much without killing us or driving us mad! But building a computer thats smarter then us can. Or a species.

Were so basic.... but so beutiful! We are the law, thats it. The way it is. Mabe not.
Mabe i'm just saying this because I lack seconday education in the matter, mabe I say this because of the places i've been and a combination of things.

Check what a crazy possibility that is!

Hi Kurupt- It's true that the basic molecules of our bodies have probably been part of other living organisms before we were formed in the womb. When you talk of being reborn as a butterfly, do you mean we are conscious of being a butterfly, or just that some of the molecules in our body could be incorporated into another living thing? I once read that every lungful of air we breathe in contains 7 atoms of Julius Caesar.
