Ok everyone, I know this should be in the recipes forum but I'm making cannabudder for the first time and need some quick feedback. I have 3.5 grams of shake from some nice dro and 3.5 of the same buds. I'm gonna grind it all up in a coffee grinder and then melt 1 cup (1 stick) of butter. Then I'm gonna add the powder and simmer on low for 15 minutes. Then I'm gonna strain it with cheesecloth. Does this sound about right to everyone? Is the ratio good? I want some pretty banging budder so I hope so. And most importantly, how much should I eat? I hear it takes about 3 hours for full affect. Any feedback or past experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds good. Just keep the heat as low as you can and stir regularly to keep the bottom from burning. It's really easy to kill off the good stuff so just take your time. Whether it is enough or not is hard to say. I always use way more than I think I may need and am always satisfied. Consider it takes 3-10X the amount of cannabis when eaten to get high, especially if you are a regular consumer.

7 grams to 1 stick, I should use more? I smoke regularly so I'm looking for something different you know? How do you know when it is done? Looking to just eat the butter on something not cook with it. Is it worth doing? Is the high any better?

It sounds like a reasonable amount. If after an hour you aren't feeling the way you want to feel you can always eat more. Eating some on bread sounds like a quick way to get high. I'd go for it. There's always more bud to buy :) The high is different. More all-over. Slightly fuzzier yet still up. It lasts a lot longer than smoking.

Some people cook their butter really long (i.e 3 hours in a crock pot) but I'm not sure if it is really necessary. Check out Better Bud Butter (http://www.letfreedomgrow.com/recipes/better_bud_butter.htm) for just good info on making butter. And check out the Blackout Butter on that same site. Those two articles will probably answer a lot of your questions.
