Hey everyone. I have recently stumbled upon a local grower who is going to pitch up with me and start a decent size crop. Our budget is 1600$ and I need most things, GOOD deals on any if possible of the following items:
-Fan
-Potting( preferably sized to manage about 2 1/2 ft tall plants )
-Soil
-Fart fan
-PH Pen
-Nutes

If you have any suggestions and I can possibly come up with all of this for under 1600$ as I do have more lights to purchase but I am doing that locally.

If I have more money left over from all of this spending, what would you like to see go into this grow room?

EDIT : We are prepared to go an extra grand if have too.

Hey J,
What up? ! :) Good to see things moving along faster!
I've only done business with BGHydro (Better Grow Hydro), and they're excellent. So I don't know as to lower prices/bargains. But I will recommend BGHydro dude, very very good.
As to the $1600, I think that's enough money. How big is the room? How many plants?

Interesting J. Hey, I was thinking: If I could change a couple of thing of my setup, it would definitely be the fans. I would buy good, high quality fans. Daytons or Fantechs or something.

Good to see you man,

Yeh, I'd like to help out, but I'd need to know more about your setup. I can get
fans at cost from a certain wholesaler, but to be honest, they're still mighty expensive [Fantech, but Dayton & some others are up there too; Fantech is made in Germany, and is a quality fan, so I didn't mind paying a little more].
Soil, I don't know what you have in mind; I'm using Fox Farm Ocean Blend, and it ain't cheap either. I know $1600 sounds like a lot & sure ain't trying to put a damper on your plans, but in building my grow room, it seemed that costs just kept mounting at every turn. L, I probably spent $600 on nutes & other speciality items [pH adjuster, etc....].
Good luck, but please state more about your room, like what's the cubic feet, etc...

Hey everyone, thanks for your replies.

So a little bit more on my grow. I plan on growing around 10-15 plants under 1-2 600w HPS. The 10-15 plants will be clones so that they're ready to flower at a moments notice. Im going to have a seperate closet for 2 mothers uner a 400w MH.

Garden, I will take into consideration all of those items and will write em down on my shopping list.

Hey turtle and vapor glade to see your up and ready to help me out :)

I was talking to my friend last night and he said that we're going to purchase a 400 CFM fan, dont know the brand though just 400 CFM any one know a reasonable price on one of em?

This is also going to be soil grow as my partner is not fully educated on hydro and neither am I. We plan on making money from all of this and alot of it giving that a pound up here now sells for over 3000$.

We might be coating the room with led drywall as harddon informed me to keep the thermal away.

Oh you think 2 600w HPS will be enough to cover 10-15 plants for 2 months?

This is 1 thing I do NOT want to fuck up on.

Yeah, I suppose.

I'm not trying to make you look bad or ruin your rep... Did we go through with the deal? Was anyone dis-satisfied with a transaction? No, because there was none. You we're irresponsible in your failure to contact me... but that was just a inconvenience for myself. I said it was ok, I honestly don't care that much anymore... I simply expected a member as respected as yourself to suffice his neglegence with an apology. I guess I was wrong.

Alright rasta obviously your insulting me, just a hidin insult in wich I can understand.

Rastas we did go through the deal and yes I do apologize but if you want to get into specifics you told me in an Email from [email protected] that you would send the money request directly to my paypal account and I gave you the account. I did not receive the money request for the item so nor will I pay for it I didnt even have your paypal account to even send the money, so dont blame this on me as it was your fault.

Now please stop trashing my thread and let it go on if you have anything else to say make it positive or dont say it all.

EDIT : How can you go through the deal if its dead?

Seeing as on how this offtopic shit went on, back to the post.

I have found the fan thanks to your turtle from BGHydro that I am going to purchase
Its a 465 CFM Dayton exhaust fan that will draw air from my room and recirculate air from the outside inside my room.
http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=AEF465C&eq=&Tp=

I think I might have solved my temp problem with this fan because the air outside is cold and if the fan draws the outside air, it means that my grow room is going to be cool too, hurray.

I will also be purchasing 3 gallon containers.
http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=COGC03&eq=&Tp=
10 of these will be 15-20$ at most.

My nutrients will be as followed.
Earth juice Catalyst - to improove heavy growth and a bigger yield.
http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=NOEJCG&eq=&Tp=
Age Old Liquid grow - Gallon
http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=NOAOGG&eq=&Tp=
Age Old Liquid Bloom - Gallon
http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=NOAOBG&eq=&Tp=

What do you guys think

You're totally taking this the wrong way. I'm not trashing your thread, I made my statement assuming you'd apologize, and now I can see that your not. I'm not trying to insult you. I tried multiple times to send the paypal request to your "girlfriends" email account and paypal deemed the account invalid every time I tried. Why did you have to go and get hostile? I'm simply trying to get something straight... no hard feelings.

Well rasta I could care less now but you see we have 4-5 posts here of bullshit, wich trash's my thread of the 2 of us going on and on.

Rastas we did go through the deal and yes I do apologize but if you want to get into specifics you told me in an Email from [email protected] that you would send the money request directly to my paypal account and I gave you the account.

So you can make 1 of the 2 decisions, make another post here trashing my thread or help me with this one. I did not purchase your light because like I said I did not recieve the money request to my 'sisters' account. I am moving on to bigger things and have found a buddy to do it with so we have a larger shopping list.

I hope you can view this as a simple misunderstaning... Obviously there was some misinformation on both yours and my parts-- I just wish you'd stop saying im trashing your thread... understand that this was not my objective.

Now, as to your post...

" I think I might have solved my temp problem with this fan because the air outside is cold and if the fan draws the outside air, it means that my grow room is going to be cool too, hurray."

Just out of curiosity, what part of the country do you live in? Hopefully you're getting good clean country air... what are the average day temps for your area? Remember, temps can plumit at night so be sure to have your light cycle set up so they get their dark period during the day.

Again, I hope we can put that misunderstanding behind us :)

Yes rasta it is behind us, and the both of us trashed it not just you.

I live in canada, I do get clean air.

Its usually -15 , -20 outside, but with 2 600w HPS it should stay just stable with that ammount of intake.

I assume you'll have the outside air exausted above/near the lights?

If I can cut a hole in my roof and exhaust out the top of my home, then I will do that, if not I will do the side of my home.

Anyways talked to buddy tonight and we might be making some more local purchase's and Ill try to give you guys update as we purchase them and hopefully get a god damn camera.

Looks like a very good fan you're getting, 'can't go wrong with Dayton.
You have it a lot easier than I do, because it's 100+ here in the summer [L, it's up to 60 & 70 right now :)!], and I have to take air in from one room in the house & exhaust to another room where the central air intake is located. If it's that cold up there, you have one huge problem solved already. Various accesories shouldn't cost that much, and I don't guess you have to worry that much with instrumentation as I do, since you're going all soil; Fox Farm is great, but I know I used to mix up my own and never had any problems. Good price on the plastic containers; I'm using 8 5 gallon containers along with a hydro setup.
Anyway, keep us posted, sounds good !

Use grow bags.

Joel
01-16-2006, 11:49 PM
Hey vapor, did you mean cant go wrong or 'can'?

JDog , could you explain into fuller detail on what grow bags are? Is it potting soil?

Do you think that with 3 gallon tubs will hold a clone to go into flowering as soon as rooting? I hopefully want to have a succesful goal to harvest monthly instead of 3-4 months. I could harvest every 2 months if thats the case I wouldnt mind waiting another month.

Think its possible?

You can not go wrong with Dayton fans, IMHExperience. As for the containers, I'm sure opinion will be divided, and 3 gallon is probably fine, but I'd go with 5 gallon, but that's just my preference, hardly any golden rule of growing. I'm sure
people have grown great plants in 1 gallons containers, but probably not the "norm".
Good luck !

Bigger roots = bigger buds. I agree that you should think about 5 gallon buckets.

Grow bags are just what they say. Bags to grow in instead of solid sided pots. I had a grow in a shower stall once and I would take the bags that the potting soil came in and cut the top off and plant the seed in it. I put holes in the bottom for run off ( it was in a shower stall ). Worked good.

I use these fans and they move a LOT of air and are pretty quiet. You would need the bigger model but I like mine a lot.
